The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Lauren Morton)

Geralt’s been having quite the romp since his new TV show popped up on Netflix. With the help of modders, he’s gone and invaded just about every RPG in the last couple months. Alright then, while he’s out slaying monsters in everyone else’s games, this modder has ousted him from The Witcher 3, replacing the White Wolf with a different game man face. Mads Mikkelsen is the new witcher in town. Why? I don’t know, but it does look a lot like him, dunnit?

Temtem - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Dave Irwin)

The Early Access release of Temtem is now in full swing and it’s definitely an exciting little game to play. After all, there is now a Pok mon like game available on PC that is also a MMO. It’s filling a niche that, if I’m perfectly honest with you, I’m surprised hadn’t already been filled by the Pok mon games. As the game is available to the public for the first time, you may wish to get up to speed with the basics. Don’t worry Tamer, I’ve got you covered with a useful chart and some advice to get you started.

Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Alex Wiltshire)

When Yacht Club Games decided to style Shovel Knight after the NES games that inspired it, they took that project seriously. Shovel Knight can t fill the screen with 1000 bullets or radically switch up how it plays. It has to stay true to its inheritance, else, as programmer and co-designer David D Angelo tells me, It d stand out as bizarre.

So its bosses naturally follow classic rules, too, including its final one, the Enchantress. Here, Yacht Club faced the challenge of producing a fight with the same restriction of four attacks and 20 hit points as all the other bosses, while also acting as a striking culmination of the adventure. But the real> challenge began when they went back to redesign her another three times, once for each of the game s expansions. And now the project is finally done, these four riffs on the same battle are a chance to witness a studio jamming on and exploring the nooks and crannies of its design. (more…)

Drafting modes have been a very popular way to play collectible card games, and Legends of Runeterra has its own spin on the mode. It’s called “Expeditions” and it works slightly differently from your conventional draft. For one, it takes about twice as long to finish as you get two tries before the game ends. We’ll be going over how to play expeditions, and which cards you should be picking for the best choices.

Temtem - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Dave Irwin)

Temtem is a rather simple game to grasp the basics, but there will be some hurdles to overcome if you’re used to that other monster-catching game. Some Temtem types can have their strengths and weaknesses worked out rather quickly, but there are some others that may seem rather alien, most notably Digital and Crystal. I’ve created a Temtem type chart to help you with knowing which moves to use in battles at all times.

When Star Trek Online launched into 2010, Star Trek was dead as a TV show, living on only in rebooted movies which seemed not wholly fond of the shows. Ten years later, two Treks are boldly on the go – and the MMORPG taps both of them for its latest contentblast, named Legacy. A new quests call back to Trek old and new, revisiting some aliens from The Original Series with the help of Seven of Nine (with her new jacket and ‘tude off Picard) and Michael Burnham – both voiced by their television actors. Ten years is a long time in Trek.

For a time it looked as though strategy games had sunk into a kind of deathly malaise, unsure which territory to claim next and which ones it should leave well and truly alone. From today until February 6th, Ghost Recon Breakpoint is having an edgy-looking Terminator event, with two brand new free missions and a bunch of exclusive items to earn for taking out those pesky T-800s. Because it wasn’t weird enough that Predator already exists in the Ghost Recon universe.

In a scenario that sounds suspiciously familiar, a woman has appeared claiming to be from the future, and it’s up to you to help her find and destroy the Terminator threats that have started appearing in a new location on Auroa.

Dwarf Fortress - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Lauren Morton)

The at times inscrutable and oft eye-straining simulation game Dwarf Fortress has a new update today. It has the beginnings of a villainy system where evil acts like assassinations, coups, and embezzlement can happen during world generation. There are also pets for your dwarves which I’d like to suggest is the most important bit.
