Now that Cyberpunk 2077 is delayed from April to September, what are you to do? You’ve grown a lurid blue mohawk, your leather jacket is almost worn in, and your prescription mirrorshades are ready for collection at Specsavers – but for what? You might as well use this time to explore all games cyberpunky, from edgy and nihilistic griping about how the future sucks to wacky cyberjapes that make you wanna jump up and shout HACK THE PLANET. I have some recommendations.

With the open beta for Legends of Runeterra now live, it’s best to have an idea of which cards you need to construct the the best decks. There are some decks that rely on having expensive cards, but we’ve had a look around for some budget decks that are nowhere near as expensive to create. So while you work on refining how to play the game and when to time your spell casting, here are the best decks in Legends of Runeterra.

There is a man in Riot’s new card combat game whose job is to throw mushrooms into my opponent’s deck. He is really, really into it. “Have a mushroom!”, he shouts. “Have three!” Whenever my opponents draw a card with a mushroom attached, their nexus takes direct damage. This is a sneaky and deplorable way to win matches, as evinced by the smug expression on the Puffcap Peddler’s face.
He is also lonely. His cheery quips about being ‘a fun guy’ mask a life of agaric isolation. “Oh, if mushrooms could talk,” he opines. We can dream, Puffcap man. We can dream.
Legends Of Runeterra is OK. It’s growing on me.
Last night’s new Destiny 2 patch had the unintended consequence of deleting many players’ hard-ground cash and upgrade materials, causing Bungie to take the MMOFPS offline for nine hours while they fixed it. Their solution was to roll characters back to their state before the patch, which has the unfortunate side-effect of wiping out everything players did between the patch launching and the emergency maintenance started. A big mess right there. Some players report they still have things missing after the rollback.

The next chapter in Battlefield V‘s Tides of War campaign takes players into the tropical wilderness of a brand new map, Solomon Island. Appropriately named, Chapter 6: Into the Jungle, the update landing on February 6th is bringing a bunch of new weapons and gadgets, as well as three new Elite soldiers.

“They’re like monkey business men”, says Team Liquid member Kuroky, “they will GO”. Liquid are gathered around for a quick smoke before the Dota 2 International 2019 finale, about to face Team OG. They’re visibly nervous, despite Kuroky’s repeated insistence that they should “feel free”, and treat this like a scrim. Another team member insists that it IS a scrim, and Kuroky immediately reneges on his own words. “In a way”, he says. “It’s a costly scrim though.”
The first five minutes of Valve’s True Sight documentary have sucked me right in. It’s a feature length film showing drama from inside the player booths, between match pep talks, and the matches themselves. They’re all so sweet.

Rejoice, gaming keyboard hunters, as both versions of our best gaming keyboard champion, the Fnatic Streak, are almost half price right now. Normally around 120, you can now pick up a Cherry MX Silent Red or Cherry MX Brown model for just 65. What a steal!

The Cook, Serve, Delicious series of restaurant simulators are designed to dissuade anyone from ever considering becoming a professional chef. They are hardcore time-attack food prep games in which the vast breadth of the culinary arts are reduced to a combination of deft keystrokes, recipes become quickfire memory puzzles, your kitchen is a foodie mind palace and orders stack up like tetrominoes.

Hardwar is one of the most under-appreciated games I’ve ever played.
In recent years we’ve had a revival of free roaming spaceflight games with… sigh. Okay, fine, Elite-likes. I still wish we got a modern version of Hardwar. A remake that captured its novel feel, and expanded on its ideas. And not another bloody MMO.
