Battlerite - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Matt Cox)

Have You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. One a day, every day, perhaps for all time.>

I am partial to top-down wizards. It’s a perspective that makes plans as important as reaction speeds, where every spell and step is clearly visible to everyone. Battling in Battlerite isn’t about who gets the jump on who, it’s about who can bait out a jump and counter it with their own wizard nonsense.

Monster Hunter: World - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Lauren Morton)

I absolutely love the practical, physical space parts of game development. Foley recording sessions are fascinating, as is watching motion capture actors. It’s cooler yet when actors aren’t playing humans, which is why this video of Monster Hunter: World‘s motion capture is wonderful and hilarious. An actor is suited up star in a fight scene as the giant, horned gorilla monster Rajang.

Stardew Valley - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Lauren Morton)

I’ve got over 200 hours in just regular, fresh out of the box Stardew Valley. I could probably keep on for another 200 without ever modding the game, but I’ve had my eye out lately for mods that would spruce up my I-don’t-remember-how-manyth farm. Be My Valentine by Taskmaster on Nexus Mods is a small one, but just in time for actual Valentine’s Day which is pretty sweet.

Dying Light 2 Stay Human: Reloaded Edition - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Lauren Morton)

Techland have been at work for a few years on the sequel to their 2015 zombie parkour game. Dying Light 2 was originally planned for a spring 2020 release but the developers have announced today that the sequel will be delayed so that it can meet the “high standards” of Techland and its fans.

Hunt: Showdown 1896 - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Lauren Morton)

Last week, Hunt: Showdown developers Crytek outlined their plans for the future of the PvP creature hunting game. Most of the post is spent introducing Koch Media, who will be serving as the game’s publisher for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Buried at the bottom are some longer term plans including a future Solo PvE mode.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Dominic Tarason)

Almost five years and a surprisingly good TV series later, and The Witcher 3 is still going strong; a surprising turn of events given how static the game has remained these past few years. Beyond a round of free DLC and two excellent expansions, Geralt Of Rivia’s grand quest to become a cool step-dad and maybe settle down at a vineyard in the south of fantasy France remains largely timeless. Still, there’s always room to tweak, tune and expand. This week on Modder Superior, we’ve got quality of life tweaks, re-textures, re-balancing and a Cavill-cade of faces fresh from TV. (more…)

Temtem - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Dave Irwin)

Temtem is a rather simple game to grasp the basics of, but there will be some hurdles to overcome if you’re used to that other monster-catching game – Pok mon. While some Temtem types can have their strengths and weaknesses worked out rather quickly, there are some others that may seem rather alien, most notably Digital and Crystal. I’ve created a Temtem type chart to help you with knowing which moves to use in battles at all times.

Temtem - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Dave Irwin)

With the Early Access release of Temtem, the impossible has finally happened. There is now a Pok mon like game available on PC, that is also a MMO, filling a niche that frankly I’m surprised hasn’t already been filled. As the game will be available to the public for the first time, you may wish to get up to speed with the basics. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with a useful chart and some advice to get you started.

Children of Morta - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Lauren Morton)

Xbox Game Pass for PC continues to be a pretty excellent deal for those not averse to subscription services. Microsoft have been adding new games to the catalog on the regular and you can still grab your first three months for 1/$1. Microsoft announced three more games coming over the next few weeks, making the deal better as usual.

Destiny 2 - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Alice O'Connor)

After five-and-a-half days, Destiny 2 players have solved the new mystery in the Corridors of Time and found new loot. This was a huge communal effort, with innumerable hundreds of players sharing thousands of map fragments to build a route through an alien time machine. The map is ludicrously huge. The effort is remarkable. I followed the newly-revealed route this morning and can tell you the reward is, ah, well, I’ll not say just yet for people who wish to go in blind.
