Synth Riders - kotmaale
Happy New Year!
As we enter into 2020 with a whole new set of exciting Synth Riders features, and with so many huge things planned, we thought it would be fun to look back at the past year’s accomplishments and get a little nostalgic.

You guys have been the most amazing community we could ever ask for and we couldn’t have gotten here without you! Let’s start this 2019 rewind by looking at some of the top Synth Riders songs that you most enjoyed playing this past year.

The most played song was "Lazer Pink" by Sunset Neon. This is a great EDM song with “synthwave” influences that also broke the mold beyond this very genre. We want to give a huge shout out to Omotea for their fantastic video featuring this Sunset Neon classic, and getting a quarter of a million views while at it!

Your second favorite map this year was another Sunset Neon classic, “Tonight” which has become Synth Riders’ very own 80’s rock n’ roll anthem. ). Nobody captures the essence of this song on the game better than Touge, who nails the appropriate costume for this song on his underrated video masterpiece.

Your third favorite song was "Enemy" by Blue Stahli, one of the harder electro-rock songs in the original Synthwave essentials pack. Xoxobluff really shows off getting her leg and core workout for the day playing below.

As far as difficulties in the game, “Expert” was the most commonly played difficulty in 2019, followed closely by “Hard,” which we feel is just about when the game starts to get interesting.

It’s really important to us that Synth Riders is fun for everyone, regardless of their skill level, but we know that it is in the higher level of difficulty, such as Expert or Master,
that really cause you to move your body, experience some of the finer game mechanics and truly feel the music when you play. We’re glad so many people have been experiencing it at these levels

If you’re not there yet, make a resolution that 2020 is the year that you get there! You got this, we’re all behind you! (join one of the Synth Riders Discord groups to meet players, get support and tips)

Lastly, we just wanted to highlight a few of the major features we added in 2019. We’ve been working around the clock to make Synth Riders the best game possible and we think you’ll be very impressed with our 2020 roadmap. Coming up in the pipeline are new song packs, a complete overhaul to the UI, a more robust music discovery system, new features, game modes, and our much awaited multiplayer version, which is already being tested Get ready because in 2020, Synth Riders is about to become a whole new game!

Thanks again for making this year so special for us! We can’t wait for 2020, where we’ll actually get to meet some of you in the new multiplayer mode when that releases very soon!

Here’s to 2020 and another amazing year with you guys!!

The Uncertain: Light At The End - ItAllCanWait
This is the traditional review of the past year. May the New Year's Eve bring many miracles into your lives. In the meantime, we're going to review ComonGames studio's year 2019. Coming up with a review is always challenging and intensive. We browse through our developmental archives and journals, recalling what we were up to, and planning for the future. This is the usual pace of the game development industry: as we're finishing this article, you must be setting the New Year's festive dinner! However, this is the only way to get the most honest review of the year.

It was the fifth year of working on The Uncertain universe. The year's been challenging, full of ups and downs. We redesigned many things. The more we throw ourselves into work, the closer we get to the release, the more things to improve and redesign we find! Something that's been there from the start might feel uncomfortable now. Sometimes we find better solutions and change the game, trying to make it as high-quality as we can. As is often the case in game development, deadlines were miscalculated, and the team has changed again. At the end of the day, we're good, but deep changes like these never go easy. The studio has grown bigger. Now that there are more of us, and we reorganized the process of development, we're looking to the future with confidence.

We developed a range of different skills and practices what we were good at. There were a lot of new fields that we tried out for. You can read more in the series of articles about the team, which will be continued in 2020.

The game is way more advanced and developed than part one. It's only natural: we gain experience, and The Uncertain universe grows up with us. Perfectionism might be a slippery slope, but still, we hope you'll appreciate our effort. We transformed and improved Emily's appearance almost a dozen times. Not to mention her hair... but you must have heard this epic story :)

We found a publisher, who also brought out some issues in the development process. It's always good for a project to acquire not only investments and marketing opportunities, but also "smart money": the past experience on different projects, the ability to identify gaps and deficiencies, and the knowledge of how to fix them.

While completing part two, we've already started part three! We're really looking forward to showing you a little something in the upcoming year. So far, this is as much as we can tell you. All in good time. We wouldn't want to spoil it for you!

We did a great job together with our new narrative designer Sergey Chekmaev. We finalized the story and narrative in 2019. Sergey worked outside his standard duties: together, we visited several showcases and events—our script even received the prestigious German award "The Greatsword of Northern Lands". We also went to the 108 Minutes space festival and fantasy and sci-fi festival Starcon in Kaluga and Saint Petersburg in Russia.

The game world is coming to life. Characters get animations and voices. We recorded Tatiana Sheetova for some of the VOs: she's the official Yandex Alisa's voice and Tissaia de Vries in the Witcher series. She's also the official Russian Emily's voice in our game.

We came to like writing long reads, and created over ten articles about the development process, the studio team, and the game universe. We hope that you like them too! Here's a question to our most dedicated readers: tell us what you'd like to read about in the upcoming year. Leave your comments in the comment section.
Our news readers, our players who play part one and is waiting for the release of part two—all of you are our community, who supports us and guides us through our work. We have a pretty big treasure by the end of the second decade of the XXI century: 1100 subscribers on Steam, 4600 followers on VK and 12 000 on Facebook. Thank you for your support!

We couldn't ignore the fan art we've been receiving from you! Just like other large-scale projects: we have drawings, paper models, and 3D-printed models. Seeing the game world growing beyond the virtuality is very important for a game developer. We deeply appreciate your creativity.

A thorough development is only one side of a project. Apart from that, it also needs testing. Otherwise it might become obsolete even before the release date and accumulate tons of glitches and bugs. We completed a Beta, which revealed some weak spots. There's a lot to do, but we aren't discouraged: we know exactly what we need to do.

Last but not least, here's some real-life news: we rented and equipped an office space in Moscow. It's a big step for us. Until now, the whole ComonGames team worked remotely. The project will surely benefit from our offline meetings. We won't lie to you, it's very nice to see our colleagues in person! :)

This is the end of the year 2019. 2020 is coming. The release date is planned. In 2020, we'll work on part three and complete the story of the universe. There's so much to do. We're very grateful to all of you who's been following the development of the game universe with us. It doesn't matter whether you can recall the very first demo versions of the game or have followed us just recently. Every player matters. May the New Year bring happiness to each and every one of you. Let the scary stories about the future remain a fantasy. May the real life keep your families together, and each day brings you hope. Happy New Year!

Lots of love,
ComonGames Team

Greetings Captains

I just put out a small emergency fix because of a crash for new people playing the first level online.

The bug was when overwriting the AI pattern for levels that have non-default behaviour. Sorry for those people that spotted the crash, it's fixed now.

There were a small number of other features I had been working on that I have deployed with this. The two main ones:
  • Enemies off the screen are more likely to pathfind back onto the screen faster
  • Enemy bullets can change speed in the air, this is more for aesthetics than balancing enemies.

Lots of love

Greetings fellow officers!

Today I'm going to introduce you on the different ways to acquire skills in Yomi Alliance, which is hopefully a fun, non-grinding way to achieve your objectives and increase your character's stats.

Like some of you already played in the demo, each week you are going to schedule your activities, choosing to pursue your social interests, your training and/or attending classes.

Attending classes will raise your stats from the starting point up to 13 points. While some classes are automatic (you increase your points without any other interaction), many others will feature an in-game event as well.
Let's take three skills for example: Psychology training for Counselor career and Inquire training for Security Officers and finally Diplomacy for the Command School candidate.

As for Psychology your teacher, Counselor Lapp, will ask you questions about simulated patients. You will need to listen to her question carefully, and also deal with patients who are going to tell you about their problems and try the best way to solve them.

You will increase your Stats while also playing the role you chose when starting the game.

Inquire is a little different. While it plays the same dialogue-choice-consequence pattern, you will be tasked with a real interview of an alien volounteer with his own mini-storyline taking place. Your choices won't just grant you skill points but will develop a shady sub-plot which will finally unveil in the last class session.

Even Diplomacy aims to bring you a different point of view. This time you will take the role of a famous Fuminoid Captain of the past in a Virtual Reality environment and you will be tasked to negotiate peace within two warring factions. Your choices could bring more chaos into their society or end up with a long-lasting peace treaty and Alliance application.

Your character will learn the best way to handle first contact with an alien species directly on the field.

You can expect varied stories and gameplay for many different skills as each update is released. The first Early Access update features dozens of events, social time with Serena, a couple sex scenes, an academy storyline with many events and so on.

The whole point of different career paths is to get you something different each time you play Yomi Alliance. Psychology classes, for example, are just for the "Counseling" career and related professions, so you might not play any of them on your first playthrough.

As you will start a new game and choose new paths, species and background you will unlock more and more events, many of which you never saw before!

Of course the game will get more content update after update, but there's enough stuff to keep you entertained for many hours right away.

Yomi Alliance will hit Steam's Early Access on February 10th, 2020! Wishlist it today and keep following us!

Thank you for your support!

Be safe and healthy,
