PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Lauren Morton)

Back in November, PUBG introduced PUBG Labs. It’s a sort of middle ground between the cordoned off test server and the final, public version of the battle royale ’em up where players can opt in to try new features while they’re still on the cooling rack. The latest addition to PUBG Labs is this daft plane that you can try flying for the next two days.

As tradition dictates, it is time to play Dracula Cha Cha. You’ve doubtless already played Skeal this month and been reminded of the power, the pleasure, and the pain we remember at this time of year. Now you’re ready for Dracula to collect presents, dance the twist against Zombie Santa, use his Dracula Karate on snowmen, shoot nutcracker soldiers, and ride through Venice on the back of Rudolph’s Vespa. You know Christmas is near when you hear Dracula Cha Cha blasting Jim Lowe’s Green Door out my speakers.

Wars Across The World - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Tim Stone)

Unwilling to stray far, thematically speaking, from my current plaything of choice, Strategic Command: World War I, my time away from hexagons this week has been spent sampling potentially complementary Great War fare. In search of the cranberry sauce for SCWWI’s Ottoman Empire, the mustard for its BEF, I’ve consumed a new flight sim with major deficiencies, two dirt cheap wargame DLCs that ultimately disappointed, and a mechanical puzzle game that could, had it taken a different path, have proved quite the time machine. Noita - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Matt Cox)

Noita‘s having a cold spell. Fifteen, in fact, all wrapped up in last night’s update to the pixel-physics-powered roguelike. You can summon boxes of death now. Or cast a chain zap. Or chuck eggs with spells in them. Mucking about with new spells is one of the main draws of Noita so it’s nice to have even more of them. Even if those eggs are a bit crap.

We’ve also got a coupla new monsters, new weather effects, new magic materials, and a new game plus mode. How any of you have reached the end of the normal game is beyond me.

Grand Theft Auto V Legacy - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Alice O'Connor)

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the Online modes of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2. Rockstar started the Christmas events yesterday, dressing the sandbox worlds in Christmas finery, placing presents under our trees, and firing up the snow machines. I have already won a GTA Online snowball fight to the death while dressed in my Christmas warms so my season is looking very merry indeed.

There are only five days left to furtively flick through your cousin s Facebook page in a desperate attempt to understand them as a person. But you do know one thing: they love to play those videogames. That s enough to go on, surely. You can just type gamer gifts into the cybervoid and see what comes out!

No. Do not do that.

Here are the 8 worst gifts for PC gamers, and if any other list goblin tells you otherwise they are a scurrilous crook and they want your money.

Blackwake - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Dave Irwin)

I’ve spoken in depth before about Sonic mods, and yet I’ve not uttered a word about Freedom Planet. Originally conceived as a mod, it soon became its own game in much the same spirit as the classic Sonic games. In a time when the blue hedgehog was struggling, this was a ray of speedy sunshine.
