Hickory Resource Manager 2019, more popularly known as This Land Is My Land, is an open world stealth game set in the 19th century (cowboy times) in which you play a Native American chief re-establishing his lost tribe by settling new camps, picking flowers and murdering (or just frightening) the invading colonisers. It is Red Dead Redemption turned on its stetson, ass up and spurs pointed skywards, a refreshing inversion of the traditional narrative of the oppressors in which the pox-ridden frontiersmen are the baddies and the indigenous peoples of North America are the heroes.

For nine hours on Monday, our vidbuds and assorted drop-in staffers hosted a festive fundraiser supporting The British Red Cross Society. They snuck around Hitman 2, competed in a Nidhogg tournament, built a home in The Sims 4, teed off in What The Golf, and it was already off the rails when Nate started a nature tour of Red Dead Redemption 2. The gang raised over 1000 while the stream was live but just because that’s over, doesn’t mean the fundraising is. You can still donate, and you can still watch the archived livestream.

Today in News I Thought I Might Never Write And Am Wholly Delighted To, we can now easily buy Westwood’s 1997 Blade Runner adventure game. GOG, the virtuous vendor of vintage video games, have somehow untangled the rights and are selling it. Right now. For 7. I have already bought it and started the download. Blade Runner is one of the very rare decent movie tie-in games and I remember it fondly. I hope so much that I am not crushed.

Razer opened a brand-new hardware store in London over the weekend, making it the first dedicated Razer shop in the whole of Europe. Over 2000 snakey PC peripheral enthusiasts gathered for the grand opening on Charing Cross Road on Saturday, but I managed to sneak in on Friday to get an early tour of the place before all the hordes arrived. Spoiler alert: there’s quite a lot of RGB lighting involved, but not nearly as much as you might think. Intrigued? Come inside and see what it’s all about.

The most fun reviews to write are the ones where you either have loads of good things to say about a game, or loads of bad things. Anywhere in between, and you have to start introducing nuance> – and who has the time or inclination for nuance in this workaday world? Not me. So let’s review Detroit: Become Human!

Part adventure game, part sweeping morality play, Detroit is the latest David Cage/Quantic Dream masterpiece, and arrived on the Epic Games Store last week. It’s about doing the washing up with movement controls, and/or whether robots can have feelings. I played it through on PS4 when it came to Sony boxes last year, but now, after several hours road testing the PC version, I’m ready to say wot I think.

While we are a PC gaming site, sooner or later we’ll need to refer to Microsoft’s next console and that means you’ll need to know its name. Microsoft announced the name ‘Xbox Series X’ alongside Hellblade 2 at The Game Awards last week but it turns out that’s the name of a model, not the whole line. No, continuing the fine tradition of product names which create problems that future products must later solve, Microsoft are calling this simply ‘Xbox’. Not Xbox Two, Xbox 4, or Xbox 1080, just Xbox. Maybe no one told them they’ve used that before.

Like a scampish nephew in a Christmas romantic comedy who keeps popping up pulling pranks on his career-obsessed spinster aunt to remind her that maybe she does want a family and children of her own after all, Destiny 2 gun Telesto has once again developed a bug making it ha-ha-hilariously overpowered. Telesto fires a spray of sticky proximity mines instead of energy zaps, see, and those have caused all sorts of problems over the years by something deep in the gameguts treating mines as enemies. The latest prank lets players use Telesto mines to generate infinite Special ammo.

There s always a gamble with Julian Gollop. Whenever I ve been lucky enough to meet the designer behind the original X-Com, I ve felt like the student to a mild-mannered teacher – the kind who makes you lean in to hear, rather than bellows for you to listen.

Boot up one of his games, though, and he becomes a crafty casino manager, rubbing his hands in glee as he watches you offer up your watch and wedding ring through the grainy CCTV cameras.

The pre-release Star Wars marketing push has already infiltrated unrelated games like Fortnite with special in-game events this week. Naturally, actual Star Wars games will be getting a bump of relevant content as well. Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is adding some new Rise of Skywalker content tomorrow as part of the new Celebration Edition of the game.
