For Heroes' Hall number 9 we decided to take a step back from combat and look at how heroes will have to use their brain, instead of their brawn, to overcome some situations!
Whether you're exploring on your own, or in a party of up to four players the puzzles you face will be built around how many of you there are - this means accessible and fun puzzles no matter the size of your hero party.
Now, onto a look at some of the puzzles you'll be tackling...
Skittering Blocks
The blocks that go bump in the night!
These blocks are inhabited by friendly little monsters that want nothing more that to return to their home. This shy, skittery critter can only run in straight lines, so it's up to you to figure out which way it needs to run. A gentle push is all that's needed to encourage it on its way.
Yargh! A cunning Pirate hero will earn the booty!
Heroes that return this monster to its rightful place are sure to be rewarded!
Orb Pedestals
These Orb Pedestals always meet the hero in pairs. Upon one you'll find a heavy glass orb, the other an empty space that you'll have to move the heavy glass orb to.
To me, to you!
This can only be achieved by having one player carry it across by hand, but you didn't think it'd be that easy did you? Hostile monsters will seek to attack and knock the orb from your hands, magical barriers will shatter the orb on contact and more...
Has a bone to pick with your orb...
You'll need to rely on your companions and their catching skills in order to safely get the orb to its goal!
Pressure Plates
The classic hero obstacle, whether its in puzzle or trap form these are a staple classic!
Luckily for you the Dungeons of Tasos are full of these stone pressure plates. You'll need to press them down with something heavy, like a stone block or conveniently placed fellow hero!
Many of these pressure plate puzzles will change with the number of heroes in your group, so co-ordinate and work together to find the solution!
Beast Statues
During the ancient days of Tasos, many different statues were build by the skilled sculpters. Most of these are still simply statues, but others hide a darker secret...
Push the right statues and you might open a locked door or reveal a treasure chest full of gems and loot! But stay alert good heroes, other statues might actually be monsters in disguise who will strike at you when you least expect it!
That wraps up our introduction to some of the puzzles you'll face on your grand quest through Tasos.
Keep your sword sharp and your wit sharper, you'll need it!

Raygun Gadabout was at MEGA+MIGS 2019 in Montreal in mid November. It was a full four days of expo goodness, suffice to say by the end of it I had no voice left.
The feedback was very positive and I'm really excited to be back working on the game. I've even incorporated a bunch of that feedback goodness into the game. I'm very excited about what's coming up.
For now here are some photos I snapped from the show.
The demo running is was around 15 minutes long. Run through a couple areas doing some fighting, some platforming, culminating with a boss fight.
That's all for now. Thanks again for checking out this month's update!
The Colony Survival Steam Workshop has been available for one full week now! It has already proven highly useful. The most popular mod is Pandaros’ Settlers Mod, which has received over two thousand subscribers. In total, there are now more than two dozen different mods available.
Apart from the mods, it’s also possible to share worlds via the Workshop. Only 7 have been uploaded yet, but they’re very impressive. This blog uses screenshots from JoeMan’s Weltenbäume savegame, which contains three huge custom trees that contain all the requirements for starting a colony, like ores and water. But the Workshop also contains Pathros by PatateNouille, the castle visible in the background of the main menu. Last but not least, there is an insane world uploaded by Bog, which contains a colony with 50,000 colonists. Zun has regularly used that world to test performance optimizations :)
Technically, the release of 0.7.1 was the release of 0.7.1.7. We’re now at 0.7.1.10. In the weekend, we were on standby and continuously monitoring reactions to see if there were any significant problems that required a hotfix. There were, so Zun released 0.7.1.8 on Sunday.
To compensate for the busy weekend, we mostly took Monday off. Wednesday we released a bigger patch with a bunch of small changes. Co-op worlds started from a workshop were marked wrong, and that’s fixed now. Translations were updated, a problem that caused freezing was solved, just like another problem that caused some glitching terrain.
Yesterday, 0.7.1.10 was released, which should fix a problem with mods on Ubuntu, and which refactors torch lighting a bit. It shouldn’t make a visible difference, but if it does, please notify us!
0.7.1 did exactly what the plan published a couple of months ago promised. We've discussed our future plans some more, but our 'mental roadmap' hasn't changed significantly, so the linked blog is still accurate and relevant. The plans can still change though, so if you really like/dislike a certain feature in the list, let us know your opinion! And if you want your world to be featured in a future Friday Blog, upload it to the Steam Workshop :)
A long time ago, the Grankers helped the Shugos bring gifts to people who were lonely every year at Solorius. Piles of packages were tied to the Grankers' tackle. The Grankers never complained though, they carried this heavy load for the Shugos.
But then one winter's day, just as a snowstorm was gathering, a Granker broke free of its tackle. He kicked about, fled and took the presents with it that were destined for Daevas in need. From that day, he called himself the 'Red Nose Granker King'.
This year, the Grankers are wandering through Daeva and Lakrum – this is the Daevas' chance to get back their valuable gifts.
Set off on a treasure hunt to chase down the Grankers and their king. Enticing rewards are waiting for you, like the Ultimate Etium, the [Event] Ultimate PvE Enchantment Stone and the [Event] Granker Equipment Chest!
Treasure hunt basics
You can get all the details about the Granker hunt from Gluttonous Golden Saam in Sanctum or Greedy Golden Saam in Pandaemonium.
Find the treasure!
Treasure Maps: You won't find any treasure without a Treasure Map! The treasure is well hidden – you won't find anything more than heaps of Grankers without the [Event] Torn Granker Treasure Map.
How do get the coveted Treasure Maps:
Log in each day and receive 1 Treasure Map (max. 12 per day).
Complete various missions for Lugbug.
Hunt Red Nose Grankers and with any luck they might drop a Treasure Map.
Combine 10 Treasure Maps and you'll receive the [Event] Unknown Granker Treasure Map.
Help from archaeologists: The archaeologist Ionion in Stellusia (Dumaha) will help you study the Treasure Maps and then give you the [Event] Bundle of Granker Treasure Maps. This bundle contains various grades of Treasure Maps (common, ancient, legendary, ultimate and special) that will challenge you with a puzzle. Solve it to find the treasure (the archaeologist's books will definitely help you here).
Track down the treasure: Once you've solved the puzzle, you'll find the treasure's secret location in Dumaha. Are you in the right place? Great, then right-click on the map and the treasure will reveal itself.
Open the treasure!
A treasure chest is only a proper treasure chest if it's locked! That means you need the right key:
During the event weekend you can get 1x [Event] Bundle of Granker Treasure Chest Keys per account from the AION shop for free!
In Dumaha, you can buy keys with Kinah:
Doaranerk, the former Lockbuster in Stellusia, has a decent number of keys among their wares.
Solorurerk, the black market trader, has even more keys you can buy and also offers a 25% discount. You must have conquered the 9th, 10th and 11th altars beforehand, however.
Hunt Grankers!
The Red Nose Grankers don't give up their Granker Treasure Chests so easily: defeat them and get [Event] Red Nose Granker Horn as a reward.
The antler expert Bakaki in Stellusia will give you special event skills in return for the horns. (You can purchase up to 10 skills per day. They can only be used on certain types of opponents and are limited to certain areas.)
The event skills are:
[Event] [Skill Orb] Captivity
[Event] [Skill Orb] Curse of Roots
[Event] [Skill Orb] Frenzy
[Event] [Skill Orb] Aether's Hold
[Event] [Skill Orb] Frost Barrier
[Event] [Skill Orb] Eliminate Annoying Drakies
Down with the king!
The Red Nose Granker King is mad that the Daevas are after the treasure. You run into him 2x daily at 9:30 PM and 11 PM in the eastern part of the Suhara Desert. We recommend 48 players in order to defeat his majesty (he really is raging mad!).
Grab more free items!
As well as the [Event] Torn Granker Treasure Map you get additional free items when you log in daily:
You receive an [Event] Ancient Granker Treasure Map Chest 1x daily for 3 hours.
You receive an [Event] Legendary Granker Treasure Map Chest 1x daily for 6 hours.
You receive an [Event] Bundle of Granker Treasure Chest Keys 1x daily for 4 hours as well as an additional bundle for 4 hours.
For 5 hours you receive an [Event] Mysterious Legendary Transformation Contract Fragment. You can combine 20 of these with the [Event] Legendary Transformation Contract Alchemy Reagent (free 1x daily in the AION shop) to craft an [Event] Legendary Transformation Contract (10 types) (7 days).
A new element being added to the DCS: F-16C Viper is wing flex and twisting. This provides a much more dynamic and interesting behavior to the wing as you takeoff, maneuver and pull high-Gs, fly low and fast in turbulence, and even release heavy ordnance. This is the next large element that we are adding to the external model of the Viper. Following this, we are aiming to complete the texture template, improve the afterburner effects and create several more skins.
Polychop Announces the OH-58D Kiowa for DCS World
Here is a small excerpt from the Polychop Simulations announcement, you can read the full announcement on our forums here.
Dear community, It has been a few months since we first publicly announced that we are working on the OH-58D Kiowa for DCS World.
For the past two years, we have been working on the Bell OH-58D Kiowa Warrior. Back then we were not yet certain what flight simulator software we’d be building the OH-58D for but at some point, we decided (again) on DCS world.
During the past 2 years, we have been talking to a lot of individuals including people from Bell Textron, Eagle Dynamics and the US Army Cavalry community.
Bell Textron granted us a product-specific license for the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior for commercial use, which means we were given permission to recreate the helicopter for game or entertainment purposes. Without this license, a module for the DCS World environment would not be possible.
With the license also comes a responsibility. Anything related to the product will be subject to demanding quality control procedures. We recognize this as an opportunity and a benefit for the community, the simulation of the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior in DCS World and ourselves as a developing company. The license also grants us access to certain information otherwise not available to the public. Without it, it would simply be impossible to create a lifelike representation of the aircraft.
With the manufacturer’s license secured, we got in contact with Eagle Dynamics to discuss with them the plans we had for our next module. This started a long period in which possible contracts were negotiated. Negotiations like these are complex, especially when it involves a third party, in this case, Bell Textron. In the end, all parties have to agree to the terms and conditions.
In October 2019, a day before the Cosford Flight Sim Show, we got the green light from Eagle Dynamics to announce the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior as a possible DCS World module. Even though the contract had not been finalized, at that point we were at a stage in negotiations where it was very plausible all parties involved would come to an agreement.
Today we can announce that all contracts have been signed and finalized. The OH-58D Kiowa Warrior will be released as a DCS World module. We can’t reveal a release date yet. We’ve set our sights on a release in 2020 though.
Overall we are happy that we have the opportunity to bring such an iconic helicopter, a workhorse of its kind, to DCS World and have her live on in our community. We also want to thank Eagle Dynamics, Nick Grey and Matthias Techmanski for all the support and the trust they have in our team, that we will be able to properly produce this magnificent helicopter, which was the first to ever have a glass cockpit worldwide.
Now the big question, when will the community hear more news or see new streams or videos about the Kiowa. We are currently planning to have a scheduled stream with a few people available. What, when and who will be discussed and announced in a few days. So stay tuned.
For now, the whole team wishes all the best and everybody a Merry Christmas 2019 Your Polychop Team
