Many of us don’t want much thought from our warring among the stars. We merely want to spend a few days, brainlessly force-pushing stormtroopers into a bottomless pit. We want to be infantilsed and reassured by a cosy multi-million-dollar franchise. We want a kindly alien dockworker called Prouf to rock us to sleep in his big strong arms, and gurgle amusing words as shiny space trains rocket by. If that is you, star baby, seeking to clamber back into the Lucaswomb, then rest assured, Jedi: Fallen Order is the comforting amniotic sac of space drivel you’re after. It’s also basically “laser sword Sekiro” with four difficulty settings.

The Endless Mission - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Steve Hogarty)

Few things fill me with dread more than a blank canvas, especially one that s aching with untold potential, or even worse, infinite possibility. I’m talking about Little Big Planet, Super Mario Maker, and now this, The Endless Mission; games in which you are thrust into the role of the world s omnipotent architect, an unpaid and underqualified level designer shackled with the burdensome responsibility of creation. It takes a real level designer many decades and hundreds of thousands of pounds to learn their craft, probably. That this genre expects me a man regularly pushed to the cusp of a mental break when building IKEA furniture to design anything worth actually playing, is frankly insulting to everybody involved.

Quantic Dream have announced a release date of December 12th for the PC edition of Detroit: Become Human, their sci-fi story about sentient androids which clumsily cribs from America’s history of racism and the civil rights struggle. This is Quantic’s newest game, released on PS4 in May 2018, and the last of their former PlayStation exclusives we were missing after Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls earlier this year. Detroit is ha-ha-hilariously clumsy but it does have one fun character path about good boys.

Age of Wonders: Planetfall - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Natalie Clayton)

Congratulations, Age Of Wonders: Planetfall – you’re a real sci-fi world now. From Forerunners to Protheans and everything in between, no spacefaring adventure is complete without an enigmatic, questionably-malevolent ancient precursor people that vanished without a trace. Released today, Planetfall’s Revelations expansion heralds the return of the nasty old Heritors and lets you begin your imperial ambitions by clawing out of the grave.

The countdown to this year’s Black Friday is now on, with loads of great Black Friday gaming monitor deals already in full swing. Black Friday is always a great time to pick up one of today’s [cms-block]s on the cheap, as you’ll often see significant chunks of change sliced off their usual prices, making them some of the hottest items over the whole Black Friday period. It’s not just regular 1080p and 1440p monitors I’ve got here, either – whether you’re looking for the best Black Friday ultrawide monitor deals, or the best Black Friday 4K monitor deals, I’ve got you covered.

Of course, there’s still a week and a half before we hit Black Friday proper, but retailers such as Ebuyer and Amazon have already kicked off the Black Friday gaming monitor deals bonanza early, so I thought it was high time to gather the best deals together into one handy location. A lot of Amazon’s deals aren’t true> Black Friday deals yet, admittedly, but with loads of all-time low prices on several monitors as part of their Holi-Deals promotion, they might as well be. To help make things a bit easier, I’ve marked up all the current Black Friday gaming monitor deals accordingly, just so you know which ones won’t change between now and Black Friday proper. What’s more, you’ll find loads more of the best Black Friday PC gaming deals over in our big [cms-block] hub.

Black Friday is very nearly here now, and already we’re starting to see loads of great deals on a bunch of today’s very [cms-block]s. Amazon have kicked off the week with some stonking deals on some of Samsung’s SSDs at the moment, and while they’re technically not Black Friday SSD deals just yet, a lot of them still feature all-time low prices, so you can still be sure you’re picking up a good SSD deal. Indeed, there were some incredible Black Friday SSD deals going around last year, and the same thing looks set to happen this year as well, whether it’s massive deals on the best SATA SSDs or mega discounts on super fast NVMe SSDs. So, regardless of whether you’re simply looking to upgrade your PC’s storage banks with a faster drive, or you’re finally making the jump from an old HDD to something newer and nippier, you’ll find all the best Black Friday SSD deals right here.

Of course, many of the deals listed below aren’t proper Black Friday SSD deals just yet, so a lot of them are simply the best SSD deal I can find right now. However, a couple of retailers have started their Black Friday SSD deals already, and I’ve marked the Black Friday early bird deals accordingly so you know which ones won’t change in price as we get closer to the main event. As per usual, you’ll find all these deals and more over in our main [cms-block] hub, so make sure you keep an eye on that one as well for more deals on other PC components.

Another day, another sack load of early, but definitely not Black Friday deals, this time on a bunch of gaming monitors. As with yesterday’s Samsung SSD deals, it’s entirely possible you’ll find better savings come next week when Black Friday proper really kicks into gear, but with plenty of all-time low prices on screens from LG, Samsung, MSI and Asus, there are still plenty of bargains to be had.

Football Manager 2020 - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Natalie Clayton)

Football Manager 2020 came out today, and look. I’m not gonna pretend like I’m the best person to give you a point-by-point breakdown on why this soccer spreadsheet is better than the last. Sports Interactive have been putting these things out annually for years, improving the nitty-gritty of managing a team of fit football lads every 12 months. This year’s edition is once again missing Mr Football Manager’s faceless figure from the cover, in exchange for a game that wants to inject a bit more personality into your teams and players.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a world as much as it is a game, which is a fancypants way of saying there s a lot to see and do. When I played it on console I did more of the doing than the seeing. But with the PC’s photo mode, finding and photographing Rockstar’s gorgeous world is reason enough to own the game. So when I heard tell of strangeness in the air, I set out to see it with my own two eyes.

My faithful steed, Trotsky, bore me to the corners of the world. To where an ancient creature lay down and took its final breath. To where the sky turns green once a night. And to where I could be as far away from Dutch van der Linde as I could get. He really is the worst.

The first patch for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order after its launch on Friday arrived last night and it’s not a huge one but it is handy. Probably most notable is a fix for a problem that was making the game run and load slowly for some, though a fix for bug that made dynamic resolution settings not stick will be welcome for folks who use that. Though perhaps it’s a fool who trusts that a seemingly harmless Star Wars update hasn’t covertly rewritten plot points. For all I know, young Cal might now sometimes say “maclunkey” before zapstabbing.
