Blacksad: Under the Skin - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Giada Zavarise)

For reasons unclear to me, detective work seems to be a popular choice for enterprising animals keen to enter the gig economy. Indeed, creatures of all kinds have been sleuthing it up recently – just this year we had the pleasure of meeting a Goat Detective, a Frog Detective and a Raccoon Detective, and we heard about the arrival of the Chicken Police. And now it’s time for Blacksad, a gruff detective cat who’s hopped from his noir comic series to the PC screen, courtesy of Runaway developers Pendulo Studios.

I don’t know if Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear To The Rescue is any good, but I know eight year-old me believed it to be.

I remember pottering around a world designed for giants. A world of mundane obstacles, of molehills become mountains. A world that existed on the fringes of my understanding, where something new and bewildering lay behind every corner. I suppose being a toy is a lot like being a child. Huh. I guess that’s a whole thing.

Baba Is You - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Jamie Sharp)

New puzzles will finally be coming to Baba Is You when developers Hempuli bring a level editor to the game next year, putting control in the hands of players. The unique puzzler that requires players to change rules in order to progress will soon grant them the power to create their own challenges, which they can then share online for others to have ‘fun’ with. Now it won’t just be level designers writing rules for you to rewrite as you play, it’ll people who want nothing more than create the most devious puzzles imaginable and watch the world burn.

Generation Zero® - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Jamie Sharp)

Over the last week a series of cryptic posts from Generation Zero‘s Twitter account have had me paralysed with anticipation. A mystery has been unravelling through these posts which today turned things up to eleven with an image showing the name for what seems likely to be the first DLC expansion for Avalanche’s FPS, named Alpine Unrest.

The Outer Worlds - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Jamie Sharp)

Patch 1.1.1.0 for The Outer Worlds, which was expected to launch this week, ended up delayed at short notice. Developers Obsidian Entertainment have pushed the patch back slightly due a situation that was out of their control, but thankfully only to Monday the 18th of November. I can tell you that the best fix of the entire patch is an increase to dialogue and subtitle text that will prevent you from giving yourself early crow’s feet and a chronic headache.

Factorio - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Jamie Sharp)

Factorio is one of those games that are brilliant but have never seemed to make it out of early access. Well now there’s an end in sight for the Factorio at least because the devolpers say, and I agree with this, “if we just pushed the button to release 1.0, it wouldn’t be a catastrophe.” After exactly four and a half years Factorio will officially launch on September 25th, 2020. I know that date isn’t even remotely close, but Wube Software have put it out there more so players don’t allow them to procrastinate and continue to polish the way wires work and aliens attack forever.

We all know the type: that vain old Sith who just loves to walk around bare-chested so he can show off his Sith’d up pecks, and hurling rocks with the Force just because he can. Taron Malicos is my pick for the most enjoyable boss fight in all of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and it’s not just because I managed to defeat him extremely cleanly on just my second attempt at Jedi Master difficulty. Our Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Taron Malicos boss fight guide will walk you through this dangerous dual-wielding Sith’s many attacks, and how to gain the upper hand in this epic duel of the fates.

The Rabid Jotaz is one of the earliest optional boss fights you can come across in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and as a veteran of Sekiro and various Soulslikes, I can say that this guy is no joke. But follow our Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Rabid Jotaz boss fight guide and you’ll see that defeating this boss is not as insurmountable a task as you might first have thought.

The makers of upcoming post-apocalyptic, narrative-driven RPG Broken Roads have explained how its morality compass works, and it s already making me worry about my decisions. As someone who likes to play RPGs through in a few different ways, because you can t be evil in your first playthrough, I m intrigued to see how my actions will come back to bite me later on. I think the system bears some resemblance to the personalities in Disco Elysium, but I can see Broken Roads being a tad more unforgiving.
