We are grateful to those who are still checking our development progress and present condition. Here is what’s going on.
The first and most important thing, as you may concern, is that we never give up this project and keep working on as we can.
No news has been updated recently, which is true, and we are quite slow indeed, according to several reasons.
The first reason is that we have to take part-time jobs to earn a living, because of financial shortage and middle age responsibility. This has to slow down the development progress, such as a two days’ work might take a week to finish now, with less efficiency if you can imagine. The second reason is that we are trying to build a wholesome AI system for all NPCs, including their free will decision based on personal situation, basic interactions available for player, and random generation of citizens with actual jobs or social roles required in our game world. This system requires very high level designing ability in coding which we are yet to catch up with. As you can see, not much progress has been made, and almost unlikely with a new launch even at end of this year. With the limited resource and time, hope we can settle all the problems before June next year.
By the way, we need to clarify a truth towards some people’s presumption, which suggest Tencent A.C.E Program might have a negative influence on our way to launch game successfully.
In the fact, as our publisher, A.C.E Program offered us all the possible help, technically and promotionally, and never interfere with our working process or delay our launch. The only reason that slows us down comes from ourselves, as mentioned before. We hate to say that but still owe a sorry to everyone waiting for us.
XBox 360 controllers are now supported for up to 4 players. Keyboard controls are still working, you can still cram 4 pairs of hands on 1 keyboard like it's primary school again. Minor changes: - Mouse cursor will auto hide after not being moved for 2s; - Pressing the XBox button will pause game during battles.
Also some smaller updates will come in later in the week!
As you work your way through Citadel and through SHODAN's creations, don't forget that you are in Saturn's orbit. Outside you will be able to view Saturn with real-time lighting within an unlit shader, so you will be able to see the Sun's rotation and the lighting changes.
Character Art
On the character art front, we have some more examples of low-poly models textured in the chunky, low-res style we demonstrated last month. Here’s a few shots of each in Substance Painter along with their UV layouts.
The upgraded male Humanoid Mutant in his natural state. Most Humanoids will be encountered wearing ruined crew uniforms, but there will be rare instances of naked specimens for added visual variety.
Here is the female Humanoid Mutant, who is apparently a bit more modest than her male counterpart.
The Invisomutant! Much of this creature’s look will be dependent on in-engine shaders and effects, but here is a glimpse of its raw textured state with some simple emissive and opacity maps applied.
Robb Waters’s concept work for the Invisomutant, who now combines elements of the original Invisomutant and the Zero-G mutant into one enemy type.
The Autobomb, now redesigned as a sleek and glossy delivery system of death.
Next, revised and tweaked version of the Cyborg Drone we showed a few months ago, with an improved UV layout that better supports our visual style.
Lastly, the Cyborg Surgeon, here to assist Citadel crewmembers on their SHODAN-mandated Transhumanist journey!
Concept Art
Ready for some sick jumps to impress SHODAN? Well here is a first look at the Turbo Boots and Jump Jets!
Maybe the X Games will make a BIG come back in the future.
Above we have Robb's concept on the Data Reader, while below we have it in action.
