Blimey, it’s a good day for destruction, isn’t it? Now that we’ve spent all morning tossing bricks at towers, it’s time to dig a little deeper. Underground, perhaps, into a cavern full of goblins and wizards and plenty of flammable barrels just waiting to explode. Pick up your wand and don your witchiest robe, physics-simulated dungeon crawler Noita entered early access today.

You might be thinking that a dating sim set in a culinary school, where you try to date KFC s Colonel Sanders, is a bit out of left field, but I d argue that it s the perfect setting. Fried chicken is sensual: the nibbling, the bones, the wet wipes. The only possible excuse you can have in not finding yourself overcome with lust at the sight of a 10 piece bargain bucket is if you re vegan, or if you ve just come from a Subway and enjoyed a foot-long.

So it makes perfect sense to me that I Love You, Colonel Sanders! is a romantic visual novel. And it s free today on Steam. Here s the launch trailer.

Cat Quest II - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Craig Pearson)

Back when I lived with John Walker and Graham, we had a cat called Dexter. For one glorious afternoon, Dex wore a little camera around his collar. We saw what he got up to, which involved secret cat meetings under cars, and watching hot air balloons drifting over Bath. Then he lost it and we were denied any further glimpses into his world. I can see why. Cat Quest 2 s release trailer is rammed with adventures as the kitties battle action-RPG-style to keep the encroaching dogs of the Lupus Empire from overwhelming them. Dexter was clearly trying to protect us from the truth about the world.

The Long Dark - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Natalie Clayton)

The Long Dark has been in early access for five years now. To celebrate all that time in the snowy wastes, developers Hinterland have announced the release date for chapter three of the game’s story mode, and tinkered with just a little bit of time travel.

Just as it seemed like Bethesda had sorted their issues with nylon collector’s bags, it turns out they’ve gone and sold a health hazard disguised as a Fallout 76 helmet. Manufacturer Chronicle has issued a recall of an estimasted 20,000 T-51b Power Armor collectible helmets sold by US retailer GameStop over a risk of mold exposure.

It speaks to the uneasy balance between humankind s pessimism and optimism that we re all fairly certain we re going to nuke one another into oblivion at some point, but that it will also> be loads of fun for those who survive the blast, with mutated trees and cool trucks and glowing green goop flying everywhere. Atomicrops is one such vision of a cartoonish radioactive future, a post apocalyptic twin-stick farming game in which vegetables grow to full size in a matter of minutes so long as they re not munched to bits by mutated slugs.

Borderlands 3 may have been 2K’s fastest selling game in the history of forever, but it sure hasn’t been very quick about fixing its various performance problems over on PC. While last week’s hotfix patch squashed a couple of performance-related issues, a proper solution for getting rid of things like stuttering and its DX12 load time problems has yet to materialise. Still, while we’re waiting for Gearbox to finish putting together the game’s next big patch, here’s how to get the best Borderlands 3 performance for the time being.

Below you’ll find the best settings for getting the most from Borderlands 3 on PC, and I’ve also been testing Borderlands 3’s performance in both DX11 and its DX12 beta mode to see if there’s actually any benefit to switching which version of DirectX it runs on. Last but not least, I’ve had a look at what AMD’s image sharpening FidelityFX tech brings to the table as well.

FINAL FANTASY VIII - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Katharine Castle)

Another month, another big video game publisher puts a great big dollop of video game music online for zero pennies. This time, it’s Bandai Namco, who have just uploaded every single Tekken soundtrack onto Spotify because, well, apparently everyone loves Tekken. I’ve never partaken in a Tekken, but with track names like “Massive Stunner” and “Lonesome City Jazz Party 1st”, I’m already 100% convinced the music must be great.

However, given my rather lacking expertise in all things Tekken-related, I thought that instead of doing a big Tekken musical breakdown like I did for Capcom and all the Final Fantasy games, I’d take this opportunity to celebrate some of the other great gaming soundtracks you can currently listen to for free right now, because boy howdy are there loads of ’em. So bang on those headphones and turn up the volume, folks. It’s head-banging time.

If you’re one of the many experiencing the unbridled frustration of intermittent (or in some cases near-constant) Borderlands 3 lag and stuttering issues, believe me when I say I understand your pain. I’ve put together the below list of potential fixes which have solved the issue for a great many people, so that with some luck, you’ll be able to rid yourself of these micro-stutters and return to a consistent, smooth 60+ FPS during your Borderlands 3 adventures.

You can’t have a discussion about the best Borderlands 3 weapons without discussing Legendary weapons – those rare gold guns that drop very occasionally from bosses, Loot Ticks, and high-value chests (to name only a few). While every other weapon in Borderlands 3 is procedurally generated and extremely variable due to its many possible prefixes and stat alterations, Legendary weapons have been carefully crafted to offer a completely unique experience with each one.

But how do you get your hands on them? Our Borderlands 3 Legendary weapons guide will answer this and any other questions you may have on Legendaries in this chaotic looter-shooter. We’ll go over every Legendary weapon we know about in the game by weapon type, along with useful tips on the best guns available and the best locations to go “Legendary farming“.
