The so new it’s not even out yet hotness in games is still Cyberpunk 2077, but as the name suggests, it’s not the original Cyberpunk. Although there aren’t 2076 previous entries, there is a robust and well loved tabletop roleplaying game to thank for the existence of CD Projekt Red’s upcoming RPG.
The TRPG was written by Mike Pondsmith, the founder of publisher R. Talsorian Games, and who’s often known to players as Maximum Mike. He is a charming and obviously very clever man, a teller of stories who’d be great at a party, and he is, he said, getting recognised much more often now he’s on the 2077 media circuit. At a sit down interview at Gamescom, during which he cheerfully called both me and Alice L. “AliceAlice”, he told us about his work with CD Projekt Red, the new TRPG edition Cyberpunk Red (the Jumpstart starter set for Red having come out earlier this month), and business meetings in pyjamas.
You could put together a decent indie games showcase for nothing just by loading the Epic Games Store and clicking a button. The current freebie on there is Polytron’s excellent, world bending puzzle-platformer, Fez. It’s definitely worth the zero doubloons they re asking for it. In fact, it s worth at least 100,000,000 times that. Fez is great.
Ah, the sweet smell of the last summer bank holiday. And what better way to celebrate such a marvellous occasion than with a bucket load of hot, sizzling deals? I’m not kidding about the hot, sizzling bit either, as this is the first time I’ve seen the delightful Stephen’s Sausage Roll on sale since probably the beginning of time. So why not whack it on your PC’s metaphorical (or indeed literal) barbeque and have some rollin’ fun times, eh? To the deals!
Fallout 76 is a weird beast. It s mired in bugs and poor decisions, but somehow manages to birth funny player stories, like the people role-playing as NPCs, or the tale of those who have invented a lethal game show. This is why I ve found myself dedicating over 100 hours to the multiplayer shooter and why I leapt at the chance to explore the new Vault 94 raid added as part of the latest patch.
But having spent some time with the first of these raids, called Dead in the Water, I can t help but feel disappointed. From servers that disconnect if you so much as look at them the wrong way, to dismal loot drops, the raid was frustrating to say the least, soaking up tons of ammunition and resources with little reward or return for my efforts.

Being a left-leaning teenager in Britain during the 1980s wasn’t particularly dangerous. You might pick up the odd knock during a fractious anti-apartheid or pro miners march, or accidentally scald yourself with clumsily poured carrot and coriander soup during a CND rally, but the chances of serious injury and death were slim. Commitment to the cause fifty years earlier meant something very different. Of the 2300 or so idealistic leftists who left Britain, Ireland, and the Commonwealth to fight for the Republicans during the Spanish Civil War, almost 1 in 4 perished on the Peninsula. (more…)
Roman and Joyce always have a jigsaw puzzle on the go. Their current undertaking is a montage of plastic kit box art sliced into 10k pieces by one of Rooksburger s slightly blunt punching machines. Below are 36 pieces from that puzzle. Identify the subjects and manufacturers to complete the defox. (more…)
Supergiant Games launched Hades exclusively on the Epic Games Store at the end of 2018, becoming one of the OG combatants in the Great Store War that followed in 2019. Though we ll never truly know why they set-up in a store that’s paying games to be there, they ve decided that a year is enough time to be away from Steam. Hades is coming to Early Access on Steam December 10th.
It was worth it to Supergiant to make a trailer about this. Here you go.
The next hero coming to Dota 2 is Snapfire, an elderly goblin who bakes cookies, carries a shotgun, and rides a giant lava-spewing lizard. She seems a lark, as long as you stay on her good side. Valve announced Snapfire today during their huge Dota tournament, The International, to arrive in a future update for the free-to-play MOBA. It’s a mystery for now how she plays and what her abilities are, but come watch her introduction video and you might have a few guesses.

Roblox has a lot of ways to show off creativity, but there are occasions where promotional items can be redeemed in-game for players to use. It’s not immediately obvious how to redeem them, or indeed how to equip them once they’ve been redeemed. Don’t worry, we’ll get you up to speed with how to deck out your avatar with all the items obtained from Roblox codes, as well as providing a list of all the currently active codes.

Teamfight Tactics has had the 9.16b patch deployed this week and the meta is somewhat settling over a wide variety of TFT comps. Nobles are still fairly dominant in the current meta, but there have been a few rumblings in the form of a Shapeshifter comp that uses the new champion. Jinx and Draven comps are still highly popular, but then again you also still see Volibear punching things occasionally. These are the best comps TFT has to offer that we have found as of the latest update.
