Starbound yesterday launched a new update, and it features bounty hunters with giant bananas for heads. The last bounty I hunted ended in a brutal massacre the likes of which that outback desert town had never seen. You thought I was going to make a cute joke about chocolate, didn’t you? Do not cross me, vagrant. Instead, take in a light spot of the trailer below:

It’s been cloud gaming galore at E3, with everyone from Google to Ubisoft wanting you to play fancy games on mundane computers, and now Steam has joined in. Valve already let us stream games from our gaming PCs to other, slower systems in our homes, and now they’re tentatively letting us venture outside. Steam In-Home Streaming is now Steam Remote Play, able to let you play your games on your bigbox at a distance. It’ll require a good Internet connection, of course, and input lag may become a problem, but for certain types of games I’m sure that’s just grand.

With E3 now nearly behind us, you’ll probably want to catch up on many of the Fortbyte challenges released in Fortnite this week. Today’s Fortbyte has you going into a cave in the southern part of the map. Fortbytes been going on a little while now and even though some are easy, others will need the Battle Pass to be purchased in order to complete those challenges. To make things easier, we’ve updated the table so that it has each of the links to the Fortbyte you’re looking for. There are a hundred in total and I will be going over all of them. Wish me luck.

The Wasteland is a lawless place, son. We don’t have time for fun and games, and we especially don’t have time to worry about stretching everyday industry vernacular to its absolute limits. InXile Entertainment’s remaster of the original Wasteland – which was announced back in June 2018 – seem have locked the word ‘remaster’ in a barrel of nuclear waste for a few decades, rubbing their hands gleefully as it morphs into a turbocharged, barely-recognisable abomination. But like, in a good way. A good-bomination. Here’s a pair of screenshots for you to examine and rubs ya chins at and say words like ‘engine’ and ‘shadows’ and such like.

If the deluge of new games announced this week hasn’t already given you game fatigue, then you’ll be pleased to hear there are still deals a’plenty going on all the other games in our fair existence. A special mention goes to the Xbox Game Pass for PC, which you can sign up for now for just 1 / $1 to try for the first month. There’s an incredible selection of games in there (Ollie’s Xbox Game Pass for PC guide has loads more details on it, too), and well worth dipping your toes in for a bit. I’ve done it myself and will be sampling as many games as I can physically cram into the next four weekends to make the most of it. But worry not if you’d rather buy games to keep forever – your deals herald still has plenty of those up her sleeve as well. To the deals!

Man is a complicated beast. I, for example, like to complain about not having any good JRPGs to play whilst shamefully ignoring the Tales Of series, which many anime-curve connoisseurs I know consistently tell me is excellent. That may all change with Tales Of Arise. The announcement at E3 only showed a smidgen of action, but what it did show was pretty enough to get me all hot and bothered, thinking about stats and builds and melodrama and stuff. Oh, and talking of hot and bothered, feast your eyes on the absolute unit in the announcement trailer below.

It s a little bit like a molotov cocktail, says Lorne Lanning, the head of Oddworld Inhabitants. He is holding a bottle full of flammable soda pop with a rag stuffed in the top. So if I was about to use that on a guy who was pretty helplessly bound up, he continues, gesturing at an alien henchman lying on the floor wrapped in duct tape, that would be pretty bad, right? He throws the bottle of fiery liquid. It explodes in a shower of flames, engulfing not only the struggling alien guard on the floor but two bystanding factory workers.

Oops, everybody s on fire.

This is Oddworld Soulstorm, the latest game about Abe the clumsy Mudoken. It s chaos.

Blimey, gosh, crikey, blow me down, and gee willikers. The Microsoft Flight Simulator kraken has woken. Arguably the greatest sim of all time is going to get a sequel and judging by the mesmerising E3 trailer that I dissect after the jump that sequel is going to be the best thing since Henry Hovis realised there was a better way to serve a loaf of bread than to place it atop a spiked chest-high column* in the centre of the parlour and have all members of the family chomp on it simultaneously.

Cyberpunk 2077 - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Sam Greer)

During this week’s E3, Cyberpunk 2077 developers CD Projekt Red released a new CG trailer starring Keanu Reeves, showed the game to press behind closed doors, and handed out some new screenshots. Two screens in particular were released via Nvidia to show off ray tracing effects, and both seem innocuous enough. One depicts what looks like a science lab, the other a neon-lit stairwell, but a second glance at the latter will reveal something else. There are three adverts on the wall, the middle of which depicts a sexualised transwoman, her body objectified and fetishised to sell an energy drink for a fictitious in-world corporation.

Let’s give CDPR the benefit of the doubt for a moment, before I explain why this image is bad, and why any context given in the full game doesn’t excuse the image released.
