The flight mechanic has improved a lot in the past week! We made another video to demonstrate the changes:

We were planning to add some kind of mini-zeppelin. It would just gently float from one place to another. But the first prototype was less stable - and more exciting! We thought we could make the 'airship' better by turning it into some kind of glider that can actually be aimed up and down. The technical term is angle of attack.

While writing last week's Friday Blog, I already had the idea, but I didn't expect us to be able to actually add it to the game, so I did not mention it. I'm very excited to be able to say that it's in-game and functional right now :D Aim the glider up and you'll gain altitude. But the higher you aim, the more speed you lose. Aim down to rapidly gain speed!

You steer the plane by aiming with your mouse. While the old prototype always followed your mouse, the new one only does so when you're using your 'motor'. This allows players to look in all directions while flying forward in a straight line.

Obviously, the prototype_flying_box has received a new model in the past week. Most of our week was focused on issues related to it, like making sure player models are attached to the vehicle properly when viewing them third person. All of these efforts can be easily reused when adding other vehicles in the future!

There's a new BEST CARD AVAILABLE in MyTEAM, and it belongs to arguably the greatest player of all-time: Michael Jordan. For the first time, pull Galaxy Opals in in packs, including MJ's Signature Limited which is capped at only 23 individually numbered cards!

This patch includes major updates to several game systems including level generation and combat. It also includes bug fixes and some behind the scenes changes to improve performance.

Additions
  • Projectiles targeting system. *Look in 'Changes' for more info*
  • Animated emission textures

Changes
  • Overhaul of projectiles/combat system
    • Player projectiles now launch straight in the direction the player is looking, only conforming to the height of the blocks in the path of the projectile
    • Added targeting system, activated by holding the fire button, which allows player to lock onto a target and find a path through the level for their projectile to follow to the target
    • Complete overhaul of projectile path finding
  • Lowered max level generation size to 512 to reduce performance issues
  • Improved the look of several particle systems
  • Data ring no longer resets on death/reboot/reset
  • Data packets now provide a small amount of charge
  • Drain and breakout blocks no longer spawn in clumps which sometimes made completing levels near-impossible
  • Breakout blocks now flash for a second before breaking

Known Issues
  • Gamepads will produce unexpected results if plugged in before starting game. WORKAROUND: Wait to plug gamepads in until after the main menu has loaded.
  • Drain blocks sometimes drain through corners
  • Player can place multiple blocks in the same spot in Creative mode

Version 1.0 is finally ready for launch on May 14th,

It is such an excellent feeling to be able to showcase our humble work to the world. We hope The Grandmaster will be loved by many and drives us to create even better games in the future.

Features:

  • 100 levels are good enough to entertain players for quite some time ( assume if you do not die a lot!)

  • 6 Challenges for Steam Achievements are ready to be taken.

  • Infinite Mode - is total random madness for the Steam Leaderboard, no QA no Balancing, pure chaos.

KARDS - The WW2 Card Game - Thomas
We just finished the first ever KARDS season at end of April and what a blast it was! Let’s celebrate the winner, go over some info, and have a look at Season 2.

Winner of Season 1: SoraTsukishima
The winner of Season 1, Number One of the elite Officer Club, is SoraTsukishima! The reward for this amazing feat is an original Kards survival bag with a Kards flask, a real Kards booster card pack, and a special 1939 Games certificate (we keep a twin of that certificate at the 1939 Office on display). Season 2
Now, that we have successfully closed Season 1, it is time to look ahead to Season 2 which started May 1st.

As part of our ongoing improvements, we clarified the UI so that you can easily see what you need to do to get to the next level of rewards at the end of the season.


>>> Rank changes
We have adjusted all ranks to provide new challenges and to justify the good rewards that are waiting for you at the end of the season.

Except for Field Marshal rank, all ranks for all nations were lowered by 1 with start of Season 2. All stars earned in the rank so far were retained (e.g. a German Major with 3 stars became a German Captain with 3 stars).

The Field Marshal rank was lowered by two ranks down to Major 5 stars.

>>> Officer Club reset
Directly after the end of Season 1 and with the start of Season 2, we have removed everyone from the Officer Club as none matched the prerequisites of being Field Marshal in at least three nations (see above). We already see top players arriving joining the Officer Club for Season 2, are you one of them?

Hello! It's been a little while, but we've been pretty busy working on new versions and features for the game. First of all, the game now has a level editor! We know there's been a lot of requests for the ability to make your own custom levels of any song you want, so now you can.

Aside from that, you can now find the game on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store! The iPhone and Android versions have been adjusted to match the art of the Steam version. Have fun!

Version 1.1.3 Patch Notes
We've implemented a few changes and tweaks to the game, mostly for optimization. Here's a list of them:

Features:
  • Custom Level Editor: You can now upload a .mp3 or .ogg file and create your own level for it. You can find the editor by moving to the left on the Level Select menu. We wanted to create a simple and intuitive system, so you can create the shape of the track really quickly using your keyboard. Saving your level will save it as a .adofai file, which you can share with friends. We look forward to seeing what people can do with our game mechanics!
  • Play Custom Levels: If you'd like to play a custom level that someone else has made, download their .adofai file along with the audio file in the same folder, and then open the .adofai file using the in-game Custom Level Editor. Now you can play it yourself!

Changes:
  • Visual changes: We've remastered and re-optimized some of our visual assets. Most of the changes are small, but they're most notable in the level 1-X.
  • Adjusted audio issue on level 4-1.

Bugfixes:
  • Minor bug fixes and adjustments.

Future

Due to the expanded scope of the game, especially supporting the Level Editor and playable custom levels, we are increasing the price on Steam to be $3.99 USD. We feel that this is a better match for the size of the game. The change will occur on Friday, May 10th. You can still get the game this week, before then, at the old price. Thank you for understanding!

Now that we've finished these graphics remasters and released the level editor, we can focus on working on free additional levels. We've got a few ideas in mind, so thank you for your patience as we finish the levels! And thanks again for all the very kind Steam reviews, it means a lot to us.
