Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Dominic Tarason)

As much faith as I have in Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night as a game, the Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night spiritual successor (headed up by SOTN director Koji Igarashi) has looked a little rough up until now. Today, along with announcing a June 18th release date, developers ArtPlay put out a a very self-aware new trailer, highlighting just how far the game has come. Character designs are improved, the lighting is overhauled and the backdrops not only look far nicer, but are much better differentiated from the foreground action. Take a look for yourself below.

World of Goo - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Alice O'Connor)

I whoo, you whoo, we all whoo for World Of Goo. Following the recent update that brought a “gentle remastering” making it play nice on modern systems, 2D Boy’s modern-day classic puzzler is now free for keepsies on the Epic Games Store if you grab it within the next fortnight. That’s not a pun. While I think of World Of Goo as one of those games everyone must have played by now, given how great it is and how often it’s been mega-cheap, but… it’s ten years old so I many won’t have played it. Hey, youse, it’s real nice and it’s free right now.

As the Marvel Endgame event draws to a close, Fortnite’s eighth season is also quickly approaching its own endgame. The final week is here and it follows a similar path to other challenges this season. You won’t have long to complete them, and you’ll have even less time to complete the Endgame challenges. Those Infinity Stones aren’t being recovered by themselves, so get to it!

With the game being the global sensation that it is, there’s a lot to learn about not only getting that all-important “Victory Royale”, but also the changes to the map as the seasons progress, and the challenges you can seek to complete. Head over to our main [cms-block] hub for every single thing you need to get started.

The Swords of Ditto: Mormo's Curse - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Alice O'Connor)

Charming roguelikelike The Swords Of Ditto today launched a big ol’ free update, Mormo’s Curse, adding and reworking heaps of stuff. You’ll find new areas, new enemies, new items, performance improvements, bug fixes, and big changes to the overall structure of the game. Our former John (RPS in peace) liked a lot of the game’s elements in our Swords Of Ditto review but wasn’t sure of how it all came together, so a big ol’ brush-up sounds grand.

Here is a story. Daedalus was a brilliant inventor, and designed the maze that kept the bloodthirsty Minotaur captive, but he and his son Icarus were themselves both kept as prisoners of King Minos on Crete, so that nobody would learn the secret of the Minotaur’s labyrinth. Eventually, Daedalus built wings from feathers and wax, so that he and Icarus could fly to freedom, but he warned Icarus not to fly too high, or the sun would melt the wax.

Icarus flew too Close To The Sun. [cool sunglasses emoji].

Every year on the 4th of May, Star Was fans celebrate America’s National Bird Day and how our avian friends inspired George Lucas to invent spaceships. You’ll see Warries swooping through the streets, arms outstretched as they shriek like a Tawny Indiana Eagle (which famously inspired the TIE Fighter). Others spread their fingers to mimic the x-shaped wing profile of the Lothian Gannet (which inspired not only X-Wing spaceships but the ‘live long and prosper’ gesture of their pilots). GOG, well, GOG being a digital games store, their way to celebrate National Bird Day is discounting a load of old Star Wars games.

Metro Exodus - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Alice O'Connor)

The Epic Games Store is no longer the only place to buy its exclusives, as the promised partnership with the Humble Store has begun. You can now buy Epic keys for Metro Exodus and Dangerous Driving from Humble, as well as pre-order Borderlands 3 (you know better than to pre-order, of course). These still run through the Epic Games Launcher on an Epic account, so it’s not a huge change, but this does mean they benefit from the wee discount of Humble subscriptions and might be in sales more often.

All has not been well with war. From the few hours I’ve played so far, Mordhau might be one of the best multiplayer sword ’em ups since Chivalry – but its Monday release went about as smoothly as a charge under hot pitch. Developers Triternion have apologised for the problems, fixed some issues that stopped XP and gold rewards from being distributed, and made it so you can actually unlock stuff in the Armory now. They also say they’re “looking into ways to compensate players for their troubles”.

The near non-functioning matchmaking queue remains bothersome, and both official and custom servers seem prone to intermittent stuttering.

Ah, fickle memory, what nebulous relic have you brought me today? Ah yes, Olive Wars. I remember Olive Wars. You played as an olive, and you fought in a valiant war. Your enemies were the airborne vegetables of contempt. Broccoli, tomato, peppers, avocado. The vegetables of the skies. They must be brought down. Yes, memory, you have brought me a good nugget of pointless wonder this day, excellent work.
