Upcoming point and click adventure game Detective Di: The Silk Rose Murders takes players all the way back to imperial China, where there s a serial killer to be caught. The good detective must investigate for clues, solve puzzles, and re-enact crimes according to his theories in order to figure out what happened and eventually track down the murderer. And, according to the trailer below, play a few rounds of Go while they’re at it.
Sci-fi explore-o-puzzle game Epitasis will be appearing, as if through a mysterious portal, in stores in May. Players will be dropped into an ancient civilization, where they ll have to poke around and solve various little conundrums on the way to figuring out the underlying mystery of what happened to all the aliens that used to live here. I could sit here and stare at its colourful screenshots and gifs all day, but instead I ll share the trailer with you so that we can ooh and ahh over its bright beauty together.
Blizzard’s FPS Overwatch continues to drip-feed lore, this time with a teasing blog post that suggests the motley crew of heroes will be travelling to Cuba sometime soon, and that they won’t be enjoying lovely weather. A local Havana newspaper shares the story of a family brewery lost to a megacorporation, before warning of a hurricane hitting the island.
Chiaroscuro is one of my favourite words, so what luck that upcoming point and click adventure game Luna The Shadow Dust has such a focus on light and shadows, giving me a tangential excuse to use it. Players will tinker their way through a broken magical world that awaits illumination, solving puzzles and tracing back the memories of old, as you can see from the trailer below.
Screenshot Saturday! The best day of Twitter s week, where developers share a look at their in-progress games. All parts of an unfinished whole, all subject to change, and all very pretty to look at. This week: wall-jumping and speed rolling through a tropical island, meeting a handful of deities, and some cute capybaras taking a relaxing dip.
Upcoming local co-op arcade/dental horror game Spitlings is basically a very extreme version of those watermelon seeds spitting contests, except with teeth. These rectangular friends (the titular Spitlings) can chuck their chompers at enemies or use them to bounce around. You can see how it works in the trailer below, and also listen to the good soundtrack if you can avoid thinking about what s making that continuous damp squish underneath it.
Pilot puzzler Jetstream flew into stores this week, bringing with it a calming set of puzzles about getting a plane to its destination. That’s not so simple though, thanks to obstacles including tears in the space-time continuum and simple bad weather. It s designed to be a frictionless experience, which explains all those lovely rounded edges in the art style. Here s a tranquil trailer showing how it all works.
You can now buy Life Is Strange 2 s second episode by itself, instead of needing to nab the entire season pass, and you ll be able to do the same when the remaining episodes launch scattered through the rest of this year.
Developers DontNod made the announcement together with a teaser trailer that reintroduces self-professed tree market snowflake Cassidy. I spent some struggling to work out what kind of unfamiliar American idiom she was making until I realised that she was being literal, having met brothers Daniel and Sean Diaz in a Christmas tree market way back in episode two, all those weeks ago.
Steam s updated approach to review bombing, which prevents off topic reviews from counting towards a game s overall score, has kicked in for the Borderlands series. It seems to be the first time that the (optional) filter has been applied by Steam, after users flooded the series reviews following the announcement that Borderlands 3 will be a timed exclusive on the Epic Games Store.
Viewing the games with the option turned on puts a little asterisk next to the mark of how positive the game is, which leads to a note that reads: Period(s) of off-topic review activity detected. Excluded from the Review Score, based on your preferences. It doesn t seem to actually hide those reviews, however.
Cheeky cockney sparrow and beloved minor UK television celebrity Danny Dyer will ‘ave it large in Rage 2 with a voiceover pack, Bethesda have announced. Which sure is a thing that’s happening. God knows how they found out about the star of shows including EastEnders, Danny Dyer’s Deadliest Men, and I Believe in UFOS, but I’m glad they did. The world should know. He’s going full-on bolshy in Rage 2, asking people if they want some, warning people about their nut, advising baddies to sort it out, declaring people muppets, and generally cussing up a storm. As you would hope.
