The Sinking City Remastered - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Alice O'Connor)

After strange aeons kipping in the bath, Cthulhu surely won’t mind lying in another few months before getting up for The Sinking City. Developers Frogwares today confirmed that they have delayed the launch of their Lovecraftian open-world detective RPG by two months, pushing it back from March 21st to June 27th. They say it’s to escape the crush of games that have come out recently and continue to come, and that it’ll be nice to have a little extra time to polish it anyway.

Season 1 of Apex Legends will soon be upon us (arriving perhaps as early as next week), and besides news of the impending Battle Pass, the news everyone is clamouring to hear more about is the whispers of a new Legend called Octane – the so-called “High Speed Daredevil”. If recent leaks and datamines are to be believed, it’s likely this will be the new Legend promised to coincide with the start of Season 1, and their skillset should offer something rather different to what we’ve experienced with any other character so far.

Our Apex Legends Octane guide will delve into everything we know about this new Legend, from abilities and potential playstyles to information and speculation regarding hitbox size and other details. Let’s get stuck into learning about this new character that seems to live life on the edge – quite literally.

Anthem’s Javelins are the equivalent of other game’s classes. They’re wildly different from each other, with some focused on melee attacks or single target abilities, and others that excel with crowd control. This guide goes over the four Javelins, with some general tips for each and all the abilities. It also highlights how to unlock them and how to make their quality as shiny as possible.

When a first-person is described as “tactical” these days, people typically mean that its guns aren’t made-up zapguns and you can’t double-jump. Upcoming tactical FPS Ready Or Not looks to harken back to ye olden days of the SWAT games and such, when “tactical” meant aping police tactics: carefully checking and clearing buildings, trying to take suspects alive using nonlethal tools, and never rushing blindly then relying on deathmatch skills to save you. Ready Or Not isn’t due out until 2020 but it’s looking to be in the same vein as Irrational’s SWAT 4 in a new ten-minute explain-o-trailer vid. See for yourself below.

The RPS custom controller room is returning to EGX Rezzed 2019! Last year, we featured a four-player console where you could change the rules in real-time to thwart your opponents, a game you controlled by spinning a yoga ball, a 16-button game about doing farts and other things, and more.

This year? We could feature something you’ve made. If you’re making a custom controller and are interested in demonstrating it on April 4th to 6th in London, we want to hear from you.

Dawn of Man - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Alec Meer)

If you go to read the Steam charts this week, you’ll be sure of a big surprise: the best-selling game was little-known, stone age city-builder Dawn Of Man. It had no publisher, its two-person developer was known only for the somewhat under-the-radar colony sim Planetbase, and it hadn’t enjoyed prior coverage from any of the largest sites or streamers. Hell, its official trailer has only accrued 57,000 views since being uploaded in December 2018.

But there it was, a $20 strategy-management game about collecting sticks and randy goats, outselling Plunkbat, GTA 5 and DMC 5.

How could such a thing happen, in an age where breakout hits increasingly only seem to come from massive companies?

A is for Aircraft Carrier Survival. Having researched WW2 flat-tops for their due-in-2020 damage control game Aircraft Carrier Survival, developer CFG clearly felt that torpedoes, bombs, shells, mines, kamikaze attacks, accidents and cyclones, didn’t constitute a sufficiently potent calamity cocktail. Captains will also have to deal with sabotage, mutinies and nervous breakdowns.

Anthem’s been out for a few weeks and some of the best weapons in the game having changed drastically from its initial state. While Avenging Herald is still great, it’s nowhere near as phenomenal as it used to be and some other weapons have certainly become more viable. This guide will rank all the Masterwork weapons in the game, listing all of their abilities, and detailing which ones you should consider sticking into your loadouts.

Devil May Cry 5 - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Alice O'Connor)

Motorbikes become deadly weapons in Devil May Cry 5, and not in the usual way. Capcom’s return to their mega-murdersome hack ‘n’ slash sees our lad Dante not only running over demons with his motorbike but picking it up to whack ’em over the head. That’s the sort of rockin’ wackiness you can now partake in, as DMC5 launched today in the wee hours.
