We know we've been pretty quiet of late around Mars Horizon, but we wanted to give you a quick update of where we are, what is happening and why the radio silence.
Release Date: We won’t lie to you. We don’t have one, yet.
I know this isn't the news many were hoping for, and we are sorry for that and the lack of updates, but we are sure these changes, and extra support from key space agencies, will be a big improvement on the game and well worth the wait!
But with that…
Screenshots:
What better way to make it up to you than with some new screenshots? And boy howdy are these some beauties. These are an example of mission gameplay:
1. Static Failure Gif
2. Camera Failure
3. An awesome shot of Mars
What is next?:
Well we wanted to give you an idea of what we're up to here, what the next stages are and what to expect from us.
The main thing is, get the game done. Everyday it is getting closer and closer to being ready for wider sharing.
Greetings, Commanders! Our Satellite Uplink has detected a number of well-stocked resource deposits across the region. It’s time to increase your resource harvesting efforts and claim these precious nodes! Resource locations of levels 7 through 10 will be available until 7am (UTC) on Monday January 28th. Join the resource scavenging event now!
This weekend, we're also running a special Gain Resources Sustained Challenge, where players can compete to gain special tier 4 units. Have a great weekend, everyone!
Enabled event affecting [Weight Class] and [Brand] demands; as previously mentioned in Update #034
Updated event database to be more easily configurable. This will result in less repetitive events with the introduction of new {event} token.
Introduced 18 new {event} tokens. Ranging from natural disaster (Sinkholes, Heat waves, etc) to man-made event (Peace, chemical explosion, gas leak, etc); which will affect different market demands
Event element UI is now more interactive and informative; displaying detailed info upon hovering. Last improvement to this element was in Update #006
Time to give you an update on what we have been doing. In short, A LOT of exciting stuff.
Currently (as in today) the plan is to release a BIG update for our game next week. The new update will include 5 new levels with a story, new enemy units, a new trap, balance changes and bugs! Wait, bugs? No no no, bugfixes.
The new stuff!
You have already seen the new slowing trap in the previous blog but for those who missed it here is the concept sketch that we love!
Now that's a winner!
Now let's talk about the new enemy units!
The GIANT (name is work in the progress if you have a great idea feel free to write it in comments)!
A slow behemoth of shark that can take a lot of punishment but also has the sweetest smile of them all. Just look at this glorious T-pose and his small little hat, cuteness overload! Definitely one of our favourites!
Cutest enemy of them all!
Next one is this chapters boss, General Throl. He is the right hand of King Nerus and a fierce warrior. In his eyes, Aerians are focusing too much on frivolous things and lack warrior spirit to stop the Aquator invasion!
ATTACK!!!
Throls major ability is to give other units around him a speed buff so they can overwhelm your defenses. He smashes his hammer on the ground and lightning strikes all nearby attackers (3 tile radius) which buffs them to move and attack faster (+25%) for 5 seconds and are visually electrocuted
And that would be it right now. We won't show any new levels just right now because in our eyes seeing them for the first time in-game is a more rewarding experience. Also, we can’t comment on any bug fixes or balance changes right now because even if the update should be only week away things can change!
But there is one more thing we should add. We are thinking (not promising anything yet) about streaming/showcasing on Steam all the new stuff next Friday when the update hits Steam. So get ready for that! Sweet Mother of Fishes knows that we aren’t!
