A Plague Tale: Innocence - chaton

We're excited to announce that A Plague Tale: Innocence will release on May 14, 2019.

Discover the work of our incredible team in a new behind-the-scenes webseries, the first episode of which, Roots of Innocence, is available now.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tArvEdvXg08
The first episode focuses on Amicia and Hugo, the two main characters of A Plague Tale: Innocence, and their relationship. These children encounter 14th century France in a similar way to the player, an unknown and dangerous place that they barely understand but must survive. As the realities of the world of adults press down on them, their familial love will be tested as they work together to overcome challenges from the rat plague and pursuing Inquisition alike.

This episode also introduces you to Charlotte McBurney and Logan Hannan, the young actors who provide voices for Amicia and Hugo. Both are immensely talented and have their own approach to and opinions of these realistic, troubled characters. As your constant companions through the adventure, their work is as vital as anyone’s to creating a moving, emotional experience that will stick with you long past the first playthrough.

A Plague Tale: Innocence releases May 14, 2019 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Othercide - Lightbulb Crew
As we set out into 2019, we have an exciting and challenging year behind us. 2018 saw the concept of Othercide really takes form and turns into this magical thing we are all nursing to its completion right now. But it was far from easy!

Anders Larsson, Creative Director on Othercide

We started working on what has now become Othercide already back in 2016, together with a few members of the team. Initially we started out with the question: how we could make a tactical game where the characters would take on their own stories.

We were a fair bit along in the negotiations with a publisher around this project before they ended, and we set out with pre-production in the fall of 2017. Back then we were calling the project “Band of Hunters”, with the setting being a dark version of current Paris. As the pre-production continued, we were forced to deal with the limits of budget and team, which together with a strong drive from Alexandre in terms of Art Direction and world creation ended up delivering us into the dark corner in a parallel dimension, and the name Othercide.

Game design wise, we needed to strengthen the concept. The dynamic aspects of the tactical game we had brought were not yet clear enough so after lots of thought and iterations, we finally came up with a sort of turn-based system, but with no actual turns, only a time-line in which the actions played out. This was one of those moments when suddenly the parts of the game design that were logically difficult became obvious, and the dynamic aspect of the game became front and center. That was when the Initiative Sequence System was born.

At that point, the energy of team was tangible. Full of confidence in our game design concept we started iterating and…well you know how it is, it’s not that simple. The summer period was coming, but stress was high on the team shoulders as we decided to go out of the blue and officially announce our game, and big time: at Gamescom!

We only had a couple of weeks and worked very hard to deliver a compelling proof of concept.

With shaking hands at first, we multiplied meetings with press and partners, met lots of amazing people (special thanks to our lovely neighbors the Robot Gentleman and Raw Fury). We had such a great time and when the first previews came up, we were super happy! Feedback were positive, press was interested by our game and told us they want to see more soon!

2019 ahead looks to be an incredibly interesting year. The team is strong, and we are excited of the response we get from players and partners we are showing the game to. There remains an enormous amount of work to get Othercide to be the fantastic game we know it can be, but we are full of energy. With the support of everyone interested in Othercide we are certain we will be able to do it!

Patchlog

Here are the changes which were applied in the last maintenance, enjoy the read and we’ll see you in Gaia.

Items

After some of the latest changes the usability of potions was less and less relevant. With the following Patch we double the effectiveness of the following Elixirs and Flasks.
  • Elixir of Health [C] ; Health Reg. 1 -> 2
  • Elixir of Health [B] ; Health Reg. 2 -> 4
  • Elixir of Health [A] ; Health Reg. 3 -> 6
  • Elixir of Health [S] ; Health Reg. 4 -> 8
  • Flask of Mana [C] ; Mana Reg. 1 -> 2
  • Flask of Mana [B] ; Mana Reg. 2 -> 4
  • Flask of Mana [A] ; Mana Reg. 3 -> 6
  • Flask of Mana [S] ; Mana Reg. 4 -> 8

Magical Demolition Hammer
Due to some controversy regarding the damage of the Q-ability of the Magical Demolition Hammer, this caused on some builds the view that this skill made less damage than a normal basic attack. We adjusted the tooltip of the Skill to clarify the skill better. The applied damage is magic damage which uses the magic penetration value for the resulting damage calculation.
We also adjusted the bonus damage rates to focus more on the AP ratio to incentivize a more AP focused build for Guardians on this weapon.

Q – Ability: Soul Infestation
  • Bonus AD multiplier: 100% -> 75%
  • Bonus AP multiplier: 30% -> 60%
  • Your basic attacks deals 10 (+60%AP)(+75%AD) Magic Damage. You know hit multiple opponents at once.

Systems

Mysterious World
We checked the performance on Mysterious World and noticed a large amount of feedback regarding missing Gold and issues regarding T8 Materials. Due to this we changed the Focus of the EXP dungeon (Sinking Nest) to focus now on Crystals and GemStones.
Additionally to control in some way the material output of these areas we limit the time duration. And fixed the general drop output since it was set to high.
  • Time limit: Unlimited -> 3 hours

Quests

Due to the high material provision of the Mysterious World the need of Free Quests is less given. We removed them therefore again from the QuestBoard. They can still be obtained from the NPCs over the course of the game.

[Daily] Kill Player
Since the EXP version of the Mysterious world is now shifted towards gemstones and crystals the rewards and requirements of this quest were slightly adjusted.
  • Added a small EXP and Gold Reward
  • Bot kills count towards completion of the quest.

Bug
  • We fixed a bug which prevented the correct integration of the Skeleton king’s Vision Bow in the gacha system.

  • We fixed a bug regarding toggle skills such as (Magical Blade Shield or WaterColumn). It is now no longer possible that skills which consume a certain amount of Mana per second stop consuming mana if the mana bar gets filled to 100% during the skill being active.

  • An issue which allowed ranged weapons with a range of 750 to hit the Nexus without being target by the nexus itself was resolved. We slightly increased the range of the Nexus to be always above the 750 range of weapons.

  • A display issue on the TR localization was fixed where on the character status screen “Armor Penetration” was falsely displayed as “Magic Resistance”.
