Welcome to the second instalment of the State of the Game Address. As with our previous article, we want to shed some light over some of the more candent topics and concerns shared by our community.
We have been following many threads in our official forums, and in our Twitter and Facebook accounts, about Spacelords’ Difficulty and MMR systems, two different but closely intertwined concepts. We hope the following post helps shedding some light over this subject. You can read all about it in the Spacelords Website
We hope you find this post informative. If you have any questions, let us know and the team will be happy to give you an answer. Thank you all and see you on the Broken Planet!
https://youtu.be/O4Y6GvSD0cw Hey, fellow foodie! You're watching Tips & Tricks for Cuisine Royale! Today we'll tell you how to win...or at least how not to fail miserably.
We keep going with another update and we want to keep pushing them every monday, so there is always something new weekly. Also we've increased our activity on facebook and twitter. If you want to read some tips about the game or about things we are working on then check out https://www.facebook.com/zerokilledgame https://twitter.com/zerokilledgame
Changes:
Maps now have lighting scenarios. Each map has a different lighting depending on the gamemode. We’ve heard complaints about colour pallete of the game, so this change should improve your experience significantly.
Added a placeholder in-game menu to let you leave the match without closing the game. Activated by Y button on Oculus controller and Left controller’s menu button on HTC Vive controller.
Fixes to performance in Main Menu.
Domination now has only one round, and its time is decided on a per-map basis.
Fixed some of the performance issues on Suburbs.
Fixed holo sight floating out of frame.
Fixed problems with player stuck in mid-air without a character.
Scoreboard now shows knocked-down and dead players.
Domination control zones now have a new VFX.
Extended loadout selection duration.
Rotation can now be disabled in main menu.
Bots now listen to noises. This make them smarter, stronger, faster.
Fixed bots sometimes not seeing people when their stomach was covered. I know it sounds peculiar. Programming.
Known issues / extra comments:
Voice chat is disabled but should be ready in week or so, we have to write it from scratch to work between both platforms.
Bots are available only in Evasion, so remember to choose this gamemode.
Offhand pose is clipping through the weapon sometimes. Workaround is to drop the weapon on the ground and pick it back up.
This past month has been going incredibly well! We've doubled the amount of quests in game, added a new playable character, fishing, and lots lots more!
The main thing we're incredibly proud about is hearing from our alpha players that they've been able to get 50+ hours of gameplay. We're proud of the optimization and the sheer amount of features that we currently have in Garden Paws.
You'll definitely be suprised with how much is in this early access title.
Here's what you can find already in the Alpha of Garden Paws:
Run a shop to sell everything from Poop to Bouquets
200+ Quests over 2 islands
Raise chicks to chickens and calves to cows
40+ crafting and building recipes
Farming
Fishing
Multiplayer, and even Twitch Integration
60+ Clothing and Accessory Items
Here's what we'll be working on next
Getting better at posting more Steam updates...
Seasons, introducing 30+ new crops
Controller Support
Extensive Cooking (more on that in the next update)
Achievements
Procedural Dungeon
Fishing!
We recently did a poll in our Discord, to see what you'd like in game right away. Fishing and Cooking were the top 2 so we got started right away!
The fishing mini-game is incredibly satisfying with 10+ fish currently in, of our 40+ planned. Along with fishing we introduced Fish Nets and Shellfish Nets!
Badger
Thanks to one of our character designers, Killian, we've added another new playable character, the Badger!
Halloween Island
We have built a whole new island that is full of spooky surprises, if you're in the Alpha, we highly recommend you check it out this fall for 3 Limited Edition costumes!
We will be replacing these costumes December 1st with permanent halloween themed ones, so make sure to grab them while you can.
Home Interiors
Originally we built Garden Paws to not have an interior of the player home, this was mainly due to it not being high on the priority list. But, after hearing from the community we built the player home, and 40+ furniture pieces and craftables for the home.
This home is also upgrade-able if you'd like more room to store all your goodies.
Craftables
We currently have 40+ Building pieces and other craftable items in Garden Paws. Including our latest addition, Bouquets!
Bouquets are a great way to earn some extra coin, instead of selling one flower at a time you can craft some paper, and wrap up a few flowers to sell all at once in a beautiful bouquet!
Customization
We've definitely heard from the community that you love customization. Along with the 5 playable characters, (thanks again to our incredible kickstarter backers!), we have 100+ skins ready to implement and 60+ clothing and accessory items.
We even have more playable characters and accessories coming in the future!
Where to find the devs
There are three developers of Garden Paws, Dan, Kristina and our audio designer Thiago. You can always find us on Discord where we are very active, or follow us on Twitter to stay up to date on what we're working on.
Happy Birthday Half-Life! We’d like to thank Valve for creating this masterpiece; an important part of gaming history. Nobody on this team would be where they are today if it weren’t for this amazing, inspirational game. We are lucky to share in a tiny bit of their legacy.
The Xen Trailer
“The Specimen will be delivered to you in a few (months)”
To Celebrate Half-Life’s 20th Anniversary, we have something special to share. Our first trailer for Xen! Be sure to go full screen and crank it up to 11!
https://youtu.be/TAIJich73NY James McVinnie has once again done an amazing job with presenting our game. Everything in the trailer was captured in-game, and we hope to polish and improve our visuals as we get the entirety of Xen up to our standards.
Xen Timeline
“Morning, Mr. Freeman. Looks like you’re running late.”
Our goal is to release Xen on Steam in Q2 2019. This will allow us to finish Xen to a place where the entire product is stable, smooth, and most importantly...fun! We are already happy with the design state of Xen as it stands currently: almost everything is design locked and functioning as intended. We are going to be using the remaining time between now and launch to bring it up to our art and polish standards.
Playtests show that all of Xen will take roughly 6 hours to complete; longer for those who like to explore. The levels and design for Xen are largely original work (with cues taken from Half-Life), rather than just simply a remake of Xen.
We are extremely proud of what we have created, and will be showing off some of our deep graphics and NPC changes later in December, as well as a breakdown of where each of the chapters stand.
Thank You
“Thanks, Doc.”
As always, thank you to our incredible community. The positivity and support is what keeps this team going. I got to go the Retro Game Con here in Syracuse, New York, and it was amazing to meet people who have stuck by our game since the mod days. I really cannot express how it made me feel to have people come up to our table and thank us for our work, and encourage us to keep going. Retro Game Con was a great reminder of just how supportive and positive our community is. Let’s keep that going, not just on Steam or the internet, but everywhere!
Again… a huge thank you to all our fans who have stuck by us through all these years.
Xen WILL be out in 2019, Half-Life will turn 21, and we can finally buy it that beer we owed it.
In today's development diary we will review the 36 National Ideas available in Imperator. In addition, we shall take a look at the starting situation for the Southwestern region of the Mediterranean Sea.
