The next DLC for Warhammer: Vermintide 2 will call back to the first game, revisiting and reworking three of the cooperative FPS’s most popular levels. Back To Ubersreik is its name, and making three old levels “Bigger, better, and crazier!” is its game, according to developers Fatshark. They’ve only confirmed one level so far, the game-opening Horn Of Magnus where our four ratsmashers have to blow a big ol’ horn to warn everyone: rats, oh god rats.
If you fancied the idea of Gwenting through a singleplayer RPG in Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales but for whatever reason didn’t buy it from GOG, voila: the card game is now on Steam too. After debuting on GOG on October 23rd, it hit Steam on Friday, 17 days later.
“I’ve seen headlines spinning Thronebreaker as an RPG in its own right, and I could even understand if it was compared to a visual novel at times. But really, it’s a card game with walky bits. And that’s perfectly fine,” our Brendan said in his Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales review. “Because it’s a good card game, with good-looking walky bits. Just don’t go in expecting The Witcher 3.5.”

As we all know, there’s only one better way of honouring the fallen soldiers of World War 1 than observing a two minute silence. The best way is to load up Battlefield 1, a game about shooting soldiers in World War 1, and then not do that.
At 11am Canberra time yesterday, (nearly) everyone on a Battlefield server agreed to stop shooting each other. Footage of the unprecedented outbreak of peace can be found below.

Playing Gun is a pleasant surprise every time (for me at least). It has this sneaky way of vanishing from my conscious thought only to resurface again later, at which point I have largely forgotten all about it. And hey look! It s a cinematic Western with Brad Dourif in it! How did I forget this game?
If your favourite bit of Sea of Thieves was getting proper swashbuckly and fighting other pirates for their loot, there s good news. The game ll be adding a ship- and land-combat focused mode called The Arena early next year. There’s a trailer down below:
Developers Blue Manchu are turning their sights towards the first person shooter genre with the new announcement of Void Bastards. It s quite a difference from their previous work, the collectable card/board game Card Hunter, but they say not to expect your typical FPS either. Take a look at the trailer to see for yourself:
Open-world destruct em up Crackdown 3 will launch on February 15th, say Microsoft, and they ve shown off a fancy new multiplayer gameplay trailer, too. The mode will feature two teams of five players facing off and blowing things up, as you can see below:
Forza Horizon 4 s first expansion will take players to the mysteriously named Fortune Island, up off the northern coast of Scotland. There ll be dramatic weather, treasure to hunt, and, at least if you re anything like me, plenty of cliffs to drive straight off. It s coming on December 13th, and you can take a peek at it below:

Sundays are for introspective journeys into the soul. And reading the best writing about video games from the past week.
There’s a new Capsule Crit! Every issue contains Dia Lacina’s curation of short pieces about games – often strange, often personal. To wit: Nick Bush wrote a war letter from the trenches of the Risk GO beta in 2081.
Microsoft have once again added to the fleet of studios under their wing, this time acquiring Obsidian Entertainment, the studio behind games like Fallout: New Vegas and Pillars of Eternity, and inXile, who created Wasteland 2 and The Bard s Tale IV. Both studios put out videos talking about how exciting this all is, and promising that yes, they ll still be making the kind of RPGs they re famous for. You can see them below.
