The loot box-y unlock system of ‘prize crates’ has been scoured from Forza Motorsport 7, replaced with a store with a random, rotating selection of stuff. Forza 7 never sold these boxes of cosmetics and cash boosters for real money but Microsoft had planned to start once the game had been out for a while, until all the people saying “Ha ha WHAT?” made them back down. I’d heard the crates sucked even without monetisation, an intrusive and irritating system. Good, go on, get out.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six® Siege X - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Dominic Tarason)

Ubisoft Montreal have unveiled Rainbow Six Siege‘s next multiplayer map, first teased earlier this week. Out in the southern Moroccan hills lies a surprisingly scenic old fortress, used as a military training site, but I’m going to feel bad for rampaging through it guns blazing. There are high towers, sheer walls, lots of solid looking cover and far too much stained glass. It’s an impressive piece of architecture just to look at, and should make for an interesting space to sneak around. Check it out in the little tour video below.

The Lord of the Rings Online™ - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Alice O'Connor)

Things were better in the old days, you’ll have heard if you were born within the past four millennia. Children were more respectful, rulers were more divine, gods were more merciful, and expansions hadn’t changed your favourite MMORPG. Reader, you can go back. You don’t even need to hop in a DeLorean and drive to a Hot Tub Time Machine, as more MMOs are now resurrecting vintages versions (psst read our new impressions of WoW Classic). The latest is The Lord Of The Rings Online, which today launched a ‘Legendary’ server calling back to 2007. You’ll need to pay for access, just like the old days.

HellSign - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Dominic Tarason)

Who ya gonna call? Probably not me, as my first run-in with any tangible evil in investigative action RPG HellSign ended with me being devoured by spiders. Entering early access today, it’s an unusual isometric spook-hunting sim by Ballistic Interactive, inspired by ‘monster of the week’ and blurry night-vision paranormal investigation TV. Players step into the cheap boots of a rookie monster hunter, apparently a growth industry in modern-day Australia. You investigate, you identify what’s going bump in the night, and then shoot it. A launch trailer haunts below.

Warframe - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (RPS)

Warframe is almost impressively obtuse; to the outside observer rather impenetrable. The free-to-play loot shooter has over five years of additions since its launch, layering system upon system upon system. All of which have an impressive amount of depth to them, but it is also almost aggressively uninterested in making sure newer players understand any of it.

There s Warframes to mod, guns and swords and crossbows to craft in the Foundry, Dojo rooms to build, Endo and Mutagen Samples and Argon Crystals and, well, a whole bunch of other stuff. Like, a lot of other stuff, so be ready to grind, a lot. To help you on your journey into one of the biggest free-to-play loot games out there, we ve got a bunch of tips and tricks for making your Tenno the best Tenno that it can be. (more…)

With the new Fortuna update comes a host of new features and a second open world, however included at the same time, but not intrinsically linked is the 37th Warframe: “Garuda”. It’s named after the legendary bird-like creature in various mythologies, and is seen as a “kite-like figure” that serves as a mount of the Hindu god Vishnu or a dharma-protector/Astasena in Buddhism, and an important figure in Jain mythology. The similarities end with its name however, so this guide will tell you how to make the Garuda frame, as well as detail Garuda’s abilities.

Despite having around five years worth of stuff, Digital Extremes is certainly not done adding even more to Warframe. Fortuna introduces the game’s second open world hub, as well as various new features and tweaks to the game such as a brand new hoverboard – the K-Drive, to Kick Flip into the stratosphere. Accessing this new hub world is going to take a little bit of work if you’ve not got much experience with Warframe under your belt, so this guide will go over how to access the new update and what you can find there.

When I was in my late twenties, I went back to visit the house I d grown up in. It felt strange, walking into rooms filled with memories, where everything felt smaller, older. It wasn t a bad house, but my view of it was compromised by all the other places I d lived since. It was also the house where, on Christmas Eve 2005, I came home with a copy of World of Warcraft, an exciting new game based on the lore of a strategy game I already loved. I took one step into Azeroth and began a journey that still hasn t ended.

In 2017 Blizzard announced World of Warcraft: Classic, a way to play WoW near-as-dammit as it was when it first came out. There ve been opportunities to experience it like that before, of course, if you were willing to dip your toe into the waters of the private server community. Blizzard have made no secret of how they feel about unauthorised versions of the game, but the time has finally arrived for an official one. The BlizzCon demo this week presented us with a playable leap back through time.

Kingsway - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Dave Irwin)

Looking at my Steam library, there are a few games I’ve picked up and haven’t played yet. One such game is Kingsway, which was described to me as “an RPG in the style of Windows 95”. As an unusual take on the standard RPG, I delved into it for the first time today. Here’s the tale of Audrey Last.

I hope you all enjoyed burning the effigy of a 412-year-old man who happened to be standing by some gunpowder beneath the Houses of Parliament last weekend. Now that I’ve finally washed the smell of bonfire out of my clothes, it’s time to look ahead to that most joyous of November holidays, the deals-athon the end all deals-athons, Black Friday. Some retailers clearly didn’t get the memo about it being just on a Friday this year, as a couple of them have started their Black Friday deal celebrations early, those sillies. That’s good news for us, though, as it means low, low prices now that won’t change on the day itself (well, it does if you’re shopping at Ebuyer at least).

To that end, there are lots of big discounts to be found over in the hardware camp this week, but there are still plenty of game deals going on, too, just in case the recent spate of sales hasn’t made your Steam library collapse in on itself yet. Whether it’s cheap Paradox games, sneaky Klei savings or a Blendo Games collection special, your deals herald will provide.
