Ubisoft has announced a brand-new solo and co-op PvE Arcade mode for its multiplayer melee fighter For Honor, alongside news that the game is currently free to keep on Steam and via Xbox Games With Gold.
For Honor's new PvE-focussed asymmetrical Arcade mode comes to PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on October 16th, as part of the game's next major expansion, Marching Fire. We already knew that Marching Fire would bring the new Wu Lin faction (and its four new fighters), alongside a new 4v4 castle siege mode known as Breach - and now we've a clearer idea of what, exactly, the previously hinted at new PvE content will entail.
According to Ubisoft, Arcade mode will allow participants - either playing solo or in teams of two via online co-op - to compete in "randomly generated combat scenarios of varying difficulty". This, says the publisher, will ensure that each experience is unique. There's a smattering of Arcade mode's new PvE action in the announcement trailer above.

Earlier this month, Deadly Premonition director Hidetaka "Swery" Suehiro unveiled a small selection of screenshots for his enigmatic new "atmospheric puzzle platformer" The Missing - and now there's a baffling first gameplay trailer to keep them company.
Beyond the fact that The Missing: J.J. Macfield and the Island of Memories - to give the game its gleefully unwieldy full title - is being created in-house at Swery's own studio White Owls, little has been revealed about the game since its announcement back in February.
All Swery would say at the time, was that the title had many meanings: "A missing person, someone who's lost, or even something lost... Maybe it's your loved one... or a place you belong." And now, with a handful of screenshots and an entire two-minute trailer out in the wild...well, it's fair to say that things really aren't much clearer.

Developer PUBG Corp has announced that PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will be getting an elaborate new training mode next month on PC, as part of its recent Fix PUBG initiative - and it even includes its very own 2x2km map.
PUBG's Training Mode (as it's officially, unfussily known) is faintly reminiscent of Fortnite's recently added Playground Mode, offering an entirely objective-free sandbox specifically designed so that players can muck around and get to grips with the game's various mechanics without constant fear of a bullet to the head.
Unlike Playground Mode, however, Training Mode can accommodate between five and 20 players at once, and unfolds on its own unique map. This new 2x2km area features a shooting range, a race track for putting PUBG's vehicles to the test, scattered targets where players can practise parachute landings, plus areas for vaulting and close-quarters combat.

Football didn't quite come home this summer, but something that could be coming our way is Fortnite celebrations for FIFA games.
This year's World Cup saw players from all countries pull out their Fortnite moves - from Griezmann's expert recreation of Take the L to Dele Alli's stellar rendition of Ride the Pony, players have well and truly adopted the battle royale game.
FIFA has prided itself on mirroring football culture, so at this year's Gamescom, I took the chance to ask the team whether they had any plans to introduce Fortnite dances to FIFA 19. When I spoke to FIFA creative director Matt Prior about the possibility of adding Fortnite celebrations to the game, he had the following to say:

Ubisoft has announced that Trials Rising, the latest entry in developer RedLynx's long-running motorbike platforming series, will launch on Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Switch on February 12th next year.
Based on everything shown so far, the Trials series looks to be taking a bit of a back-to-basics approach this time around, with Trials Rising foregoing the science fiction flourishes of its mainline predecessor Trials Fusion in favour of comparatively more down-to-earth courses set around the likes of the Grand Canyon, the Eiffel Tower, and Mount Everest.
Unsurprisingly, the series' local and online multiplayer returns too, with Trials Rising introducing the brand-new Tandem Bike mode - in which two players can work together, "each contributing fifty percent of the power and balance", to complete a course atop a single bike.

Ubisoft has shared a new gameplay trailer showcasing The Crew 2's forthcoming Gator Rush mode, which is now confirmed to arrive on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 in a free update on September 26th.
The vast majority of Gator Rush's additions are themed around the hovercraft, a brand-new racing discipline for The Crew 2. According to Ubisoft's announcement blog, hovercrafting "has taken over the entire US, transforming some of the most iconic places into dedicated competition spots, from the lush and muggy Bayous to the crystal-clear waters of the Western lakes". You can see some of the new hovercraft action in the trailer below.
Gator Rush also introduces a total of five new vehicles to The Crew 2. Three hovercraft - the Bumblebeex, Double L-EEX, and Speedster - will be available to purchase using in-game credits on launch day. An additional hovercraft, the XK Armored, and the new Ariel Nomad Rally Raid off-road car also arrive on September 26th, but will initially only be available to season pass holders. That exclusivity only lasts seven days, however, and all players can access both vehicles from October 3rd.

Gabe Newell is the hallowed leader of one of gaming's most powerful companies, Valve, but we don't often see him. He's like some whispered-about deity at the top of a mystical tower.
Nor do we often see much humour from Valve. It's all serious Steam business these days and Dota 2 and Counter-Strike GO. But, hold your breath, here's a new Dota 2 video from Valve which does something about that.
The video features Gabe Newell recording voice lines - Mega-Kills Announcer lines - for Dota 2. He's in a recording booth and he's being prepped for what should be an easy hour's work. Except, he's awful - he's as wooden as a door and can't stop introducing himself before delivering the lines. Some lines he can't even say. His avoiding the word "three" - yes it's the Half-Life 3 meme in action - is a wonder to behold.

The YouTube channel of Japanese publication Dengeki Online has published a four minute video showcasing gameplay from the Resident Evil 2 remake - specifically the playable Claire Redfield portion of the game.
The video, below, shows Claire exploring the Raccoon City police station. There she finds Sherry Birkin cowering in the shadows, before she's attacked by a horribly-mutated figure (we won't spoil the nature of the monster, for those who haven't played Resident Evil 2).
The gameplay sees Claire trying to take this monster down with a raft of weapons, including a handgun, an Uzi and a grenade launcher. Nothing seems to work!

The new Football Manager game will come to Nintendo Switch. Sports Interactive boss Miles Jacobson confirmed the Switch version on Twitter this afternoon.
Jacobson clarified it will be the Touch version of Football Manager heading to Switch, same as last year, and said it will be out "towards the end of November". Football Manager 2019 Touch lands on other touch-screen platforms 2nd November.
The two other versions of Football Manager 2019 coming this year are the flagship experience for PC and Mac, and Football Manager 2019 Mobile. Both are due out 2nd November, too.

It is a celebration of D. Va! Blizzard has unveiled a typically gorgeous new Overwatch animated short showing the Korea-defending backstory of D. Va, AKA Hannah Song, the former StarCraft pro turned elite government MEKA pilot; and Blizzard has revealed a Busan map for Overwatch based on a futuristic interpretation of South Korea's second largest city.
The D. Va animated short centres on the same MEKA base you'll be able to explore in the Busan map. It's here Korea builds the machines people like D. Va pilot to fight the Omnic (robot) threat which literally comes out of the sea (or flies above it).
One of the lovely things about the animated shorts coming so long after the game's release, when players know D. Va so well, is all the fan-service layered in - the quotes, the Doritos, the abilities. And, yes, it's actor Charlet Cheung reprising her role as D. Va in the animated short.
