Greetings, tankers! Welcome to our second episode of TX News.

In this episode we will be telling you about:
  • Changes that were made to the game over the last two months
  • Development plans
  • And announcing interesting events that we have planned for July, August, and September.
Two rating seasons were completed since we increased the season rewards. First of all, we want to congratulate the brave tankers that managed to conquer the very top of the ladder board in both the seasons and earn the most unique paint in Tanki X, the “Hero” paint. These tankers are Immediate, the winner of the Season of Heroes, and God.FatheR, the winner of the Season of the Tiger. Congratulations!

An overview of the latest changes

Let’s go through the recent in-game changes.

At the end of April, we introduced daily rewards for new players. The rewards can be obtained during the first 15 days of playing. The most important part is that the chain of rewards is not interrupted if a player misses to log in one day or a number of days.

A new blueprints container called “Spy’s blueprints” appeared on the shelves of our in-game store in May. This container holds the largest number of tier 3 blueprints out of any other blueprints containers. You can find all the blueprints containers under the “Blueprints” tab in our in-game store.

On the 8th of June, we officially released Tanki X in Turkey. In honor of that event, we released a night version of the “Iran” map, which we called “Arabian night”. Tankers of different locales are playing on the same server, so you most probably have already met some of our Turkish comrades in battle.

In June, we also changed the way premium subscription works. Every type of premium subscription, even the 3 days one, now comes with a 4th quest, that will reward players X-crystals.

We added a new aim assistant – a laser. It works on turrets such as “Smoky, Hammer, Twins, Ricochet, Thunder, and Railgun. The rest of the turrets are using the old aim assistant. Both can be toggled on and off from the game settings menu.

We started working on the balance of weaponry and equipment The first step towards that was changing the way some of the modules work. These changes were aimed at fixing some mechanical flaws some of the modules were having. Our game designer, Alexey Kiselev, will now explain the next steps of the process.

#Discussions_QuoteBlock_Author
We are trying to make the gameplay more versatile and yet easily understandable. Our plans for the near future in terms of balancing consists of gradually changing parameters of turrets and hulls, which should not affect the physics of tanks too much, but should mainly affect the balance positively. One of the main goals of this approach is to allow players the freedom to find interesting combinations of turrets, hulls, and modules, which should either emphasize a specific role, or have a more universal combination. Every change made will be first put to test in our open testing sessions, so stay tuned and participate. Your feedback is very important to us, especially when we’re experimenting with things.

Last month we released a survey about the changes that were made during the last couple of months. The results are published on our website. Thank you for taking your time to share your opinion thus making the game better!

Development plans

A more detailed development plan for 2018 was already published at the end of May and many things that were mentioned in it have already been implemented. What’s next?

Squad downsize

In one of the upcoming updates, we are planning on downsizing the squads under a new combat unit. Instead of squads, players will be able to form teams of two. Later, we are planning on bringing back the squads of 4 players, but we will limit their matchmaking search to only match them with squads of the same size.

Gold boxes

The new functionality for gold boxes is currently in the final stage of development. It is planned to be released in one of the upcoming updates and what it will do is allow players to buy and drop gold boxes in battle. The gold boxes will be available in packages of minimum 8 and up to 1000 pieces, and they will be available in our in-game store under a tab labeled “Gold boxes”.

A special button will be added to the battle interface, that will be set to Number 5 on the keyboard as default. Upon pressing it, a special battle notification will pop up, specifying the nickname of the player who has dropped the gold box. The box will drop above one of the available supply spawn spots.

In-game store

In August, we are planning on implementing a new gradation for items by their rarity. All graffiti, paints, ammunition, and skins, will be divided into 4 categories: common, rare, epic, and legendary.

Items that are more complex in development, such as ammunition, will have their price increased. We will make sure to notify everybody before these changes get implemented so that everybody can buy items at their old prices. Stay tuned for news on our website.

The development of the battle series feature has already begun. A reminder to those who forgot, the battle series feature will allow players to get higher rewards for a series of consecutive battles played. For example, the sixth consecutive battle will reward players with a 200% bonus experience! More details will be available closer to the release.

We are constantly working on fixing bugs and optimizing the game client. During the next couple of months, we will also be preparing for the next international release of Tanki X, which is planned for this Fall. Additionally, our team is busy answering one very important question. How to fix the matchmaking?

Announcements

Summer is not really rich in holidays, but our team is working on compensating that with special events and offers.

On the 23rd of July, we are launching a special event in collaboration with our partners, Canyon. Upon buying X-crystals in our in-game store, you will get a special gift – a glowing paint called “Canyon”. This is a limiеd time offer, don’t miss it.

In August, we will assist to a massive battle between the Antaeus and the Frontier corporations. Players will be able to participate by equipping a new paint and complete special missions.

Finally, the most important announcement is that we’re going to have a tanki meeting in September, in Krasnodar, Russia. Both Tanki X and Tanki Online players will meet and spend an awesome weekend day together, with cool events and giveaways.

After the tanki meeting, we will run a special event in honor of our second OBT anniversary. Expect interesting contests and containers that can be obtained in battle.

Subscribe to our website notifications or our Tanki X pages on social media, so you won’t miss any game news.

See you next time!

Staxel - GekooktEi
After a lot of hard work, we're very proud to say that 'Staxel 1.3 - Friendship Update' is now live! Let's take a look at some of the new content you’ll be seeing in game.

The New Friendship System

The main aspect of this update is adding more depth to the villagers. You can now build relationships with your neighbours by talking with them on a regular basis, giving them gifts, doing them favours and completing their 'Friendship quests'!

Befriending a villager comes with certain benefits; when you get to know them well you might receive some special gifts, and if you take a liking to one villager in particular, you can even invite them to become your roommate! It's important to choose your best friend carefully though, as you can only have one roomie at a time!

Villager Behaviour

Along with all their new dialogue, the villagers' daily behaviour has been upgraded too. You might find villagers doing more day-to-day activities like shopping in the local store, or having conversations with each other. We’ve found that these changes breathe much more life into the village, and Leif seems pretty happy about it too!

More Quests

Villagers each have special 'Friendship quests' for you to complete, if you choose to. I certainly don't want to spoil the fun by going into detail here, but I will say you'll really be seeing your neighbors’ personalities come out with this update. Each villager's quests are unique to them, so by helping out you'll learn more about them and build a stronger relationship to boot!

New Festivals

We've added a new fully-fledged Springtime festival, along with a 'mini festival' of sorts. Of course, I'm not going to reveal too much about either of these, but what I will leave you with this cheeky sneak peek.

New Content

Along with all these new systems, we've also added a lot of new content too. New outfits, accessories, furniture pieces, toys, and even new pets! Some of the new gear can only be collected in specific ways (for example, completing friendship quests), so I'm sure all of you collectors will have a blast gathering all the new loot!

This isn’t all you’ll find in 1.3 though, for further information on the changes you can read the changelist below (note that this isn’t an exhaustive list). The best way to find out what's new is to update Staxel and give it a spin! We're all pumped with how it's turned out and can't wait to see what you all think of it. Have fun!

CHANGELIST

Major new content:
  • Friendship system: Befriend the villagers by giving them gifts, conversing with them, or completing daily quests.
  • Roomies: Help out a villager enough, become their best friend, and maybe they’ll agree to move in with you! All you need to do is given them a certain special item and make sure you set up your own home’s signpost!
  • Gifts: You can now give villagers items by pressing the correct button with the item selected.
  • New quests: More than 35 new quests spread across 11 villagers, spanning several friendship storylines (Leif, Eris, and Jamie will receive theirs in a future update).
  • New pet type: Unlock an entire new species of pet through Rosemary’s quests! Not even the whole dev team knows what it is!
  • New faces: New storylines bring with them interesting new individuals!
  • New hats: Who doesn’t want more hats?
  • New furniture and tiles: Even more ways to decorate!
  • Quest items: These specially marked items are extra hard to lose:
    • They can’t be dropped or thrown away.
    • They will always end up in your inventory, even if it is full.
    • They’ll even throw out a random item to make room if necessary!
  • Placeable quest tiles will always return to the inventory when broken.
  • A new festival: Springtime brings with it a tiny disaster.
  • New building tools: Tape measures simplify judging sizes, along with many other handy tools to make building a cinch!

GearCity - Eric.B
We have released v1.24 RC1 to Testing Build. Your 1.23.4 save games will work fine on this update.

The primary focus for this update was to implement Steam specific features. GearCity now has 34 achievements with more coming soon. We also implemented trading cards, and the Steam Workshop!

I have made several tutorial videos for creating various mods using the mod tools. Unfortunately, several issues with the game on ArchLinux based distros caused editing to be delayed. 5 more videos are ready and just need editing. 3 more videos need to be filmed. This should be taken care of in the next day or two. You can find them here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/285110/discussions/14/1708438376920690173/ And also don't forget the wiki system: wiki.gearcity.info

Back to the previous point. Several Arch Linux based distributions have experienced some issues with the SteamAPI in the game. Sadly, I have not been able to find the root cause as of yet. So I implemented a "Safe Mode" for Linux users which does not load the SteamAPI. You can still use workshop and collect cards, but achievements are disabled in this version. I fixed it!

Beyond this I made several bugfixes to the Mod Tools and to the game.

Over the weekend I attend to knockout the editing/recording of the remaining mod tools tutorial videos. Implement and publish a Minimalist Mod to the Workshop. And throw in a couple more achievements. RC2 with a few bugfixes and cleanups should be ready roughly Monday the 30th, with v1.24 coming out on August 3rd. Assuming no major hiccups.

For best performance, you can use Run Benchmark button, which you find under options -> video.

We are doing our best to solve any issues you report back to us.

Klotzen! Panzer Battles - Skalpei

Time for more tanks! Above you see two in-game models of Panzer IV Aufs. D and Char B1 bis. Tell us which tank/panzer you like more and why.

Here's the small description of each tank.

Panzer IV Aufs. D

The best variant of Panzer IV medium tank that was used in the early stages of the war (up to the invasion of Soviet Union in June 1941). It had a low-velocity 75mm gun and two MG34 machine guns. Panzer IVD gun was not well suited against British tanks during the invasion of France, as it had difficulty penetrating the armor of Matilda II tanks. The main advantage of IVD was speed, as it was faster than its British and French counterparts, better organization, and radios that were implemented in the tanks.

Char B1 bis

French heavy tank manufactured before World War II. Char B1 was a specialized break-through vehicle, originally conceived with a self-propelled gun with a 75 mm howitzer in the hull. The Char B1 bis was an upgraded variant with thicker armor and a longer-barreled 47 mm gun, to give the tank a real anti-tank capacity. It was produced from April 1937 to June 1940. The Char B1 served with the armored divisions of the infantry, which were highly specialized offensive units, to breakthrough fortified positions. Its 75 mm gun could easily penetrate the armor of German tanks, even Panzer IV’s. Still, it was a very complex tank and required careful maintenance. Another problem was the requirement of a well-trained crew, which the French lacked at the beginning of the war.
