Hi everyone,

We are planning to push out the next Garry's Mod update next week, on May 29th.

You can find the list of changes that will be coming here:
http://wiki.garrysmod.com/changelist/prerelease/

Help us test the update
We kindly ask anyone willing to help us test this update before it releases (especially modders and server owners), to minimize any potential problems with the update.

You will find instructions on how to use the upcoming update below.

You can report any found issues in the comments below, or on our official bug tracking repository on GitHub: ( be sure to search before posting )

Pre-release Steam Branch
The Pre-Release Steam branch for Garry's Mod has been updated and contains all the changes that will be included in the next update. It is backwards compatible with the current version of the game, so if you are using it you'll still be able to connect to servers that haven't updated.

If you want to set up an SRCDS instance using the Pre-Release branch, see this article: https://wiki.garrysmod.com/page/Hosting_A_Dedicated_Server.

How to switch game branches:
  1. Exit the game
  2. Right click on Garry's Mod in Steam and select Properties
  3. Go to the Betas tab and select your desired branch
None - This is the normal version of the game
Pre-Release - This is the next update
Dev - This is a bleeding edge version of the game, expect it to contain more bugs than usual
Lazy Galaxy - comrad_gremlin
Hey everyone!

Great news! We're working on a new game in Lazy Galaxy universe.

Here's the steam page:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/533050/Lazy_Galaxy_Rebel_Story/

It's going to be a shoot-em-up roguelite, where you take the other side of the conflict and try to destroy O'Xelg base.

An old robot named H-34-RT wakes up in a derelict space station orbiting his home planet. His civilization was destroyed long ago by evil O'Xelg, but he has yet to figure that out. After an initial shock, he decides to follow his old defense routines: that means fighting the invaders, even if he is alone now.

The idea is that you control a fleet of up to 3 fighters rather than one, this will allow you to switch formations to better avoid enemy fire or focus yours.

The game will feature rogue-lite systems (you'll pick the permanent bonuses that boost your ship during the walkthrough) and multiple possible weapons that you can pick during the level.

Apart from that: we're still going to support this one, in fact there's a small patch coming out next week. :)

Stay tuned for more news!
Best,
Vladimir

Hey everyone! Vladimir here, I wanted to say that Coldwild Games is developing a new shoot-em-up game.

Here's the page:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/533050/Lazy_Galaxy_Rebel_Story/

Your character is a robot that executes his old program, trying to defend the civilization that is long gone. The killer feature is that you control a fleet of 3 fighters instead of one, you can swap formations actively in order to avoid / focus fire.

The game will feature rogue-lite systems (you'll pick the permanent bonuses that boost your ship during the walkthrough) and multiple possible weapons that you can pick during the level.

You can wishlist the game on the given page and write your comments here if you have any. :)

Best,
Vladimir

Vaporum - JaseMourne

Hey guys!

TLDR: Would you be so kind and write an honest review of Vaporum here on Steam? This would help us a lot and would be very appreciated!

First we’d like to thank you for being such a supportive and helpful community of fans! We are receiving a lot of great feedback on Vaporum and we really appreciate it!

However, one of the things you keep mentioning is that you have stumbled upon our game accidentally and not in the usual way you tend to find out about your favorite genre of games.

We want to change that!

As a first step, we’d like to ask you for a review. If you have played Vaporum, would you be so kind and leave an honest review about your experience with our game? Even a short, informative review representing your opinion is plenty enough!

It would be a great way for us to find out about your opinions and expectations from a game like Vaporum. And it would also help make other potential players more aware of the game and its qualities, to help boost the sales in order for us to be able to work on another title.

Please, write a review about Vaporum here on Steam and support us in our quest to make more quality games in the future!

Thank you!

Yours sincerely,
Fatbot Games

- fixed an issue where the Tutorial would not begin for new players. You'd be able to fly around but not shoot, and dock but not have any Xenotaph menus.

- fixed issue where fleet routes would display on the screen when you exited a Xenotaph.

Known issues:
- sometimes a player cannot capture a territory. We're looking into it.

Mind Over Mushroom - Binary Jellyfish
Here's a behind the scenes look at the creation of one of Mind Over Mushroom's maps.

You can watch a timelapse video of the whole process:
https://youtu.be/EtFSRDcPWkU
Or read on for just some of the highlights

Simple Beginnings

The map starts out as just a simple, flat square. The first step is to just outline the shape of the island's shoreline.

Basic Shape

After blocking out the rough form of the island, various modifiers are then used to give the map a stylized, low poly look.

Lots of Modeling

Next comes the bulk of the work - lots and lots of small adjustments to get every part of the 3D model looking just right.

Adding Color

With the modeling done, the island is imported into the game, where the different parts of the terrain are given color.

Final Result

With the addition of trees and rocks for characters to hide behind, as well as a lot of decorative small plants, the map is finished! This map is planned to be the site of a boss fight, with the central, raised area of the island acting like sort of a citadel for the boss.

My Time at Portia - Lauren_Team17
Hey Portians!

We’re excited to share with you a first look at what you can expect to see in the next update for My Time At Portia. We’ve just upgraded Unity, which will help us with optimisation and compatibility, and make the port to consoles much easier. Aside from that, we’ve been working on some new game features that will be coming very soon. Here’s a sneak peek…

Achievements
As we’ve now progressed on from the early stages of development, we will be adding achievements to the game. This won’t be the full and final list, as we will be adding more in later updates. So, if you have any thoughts or ideas on what you’d like to see, please leave us a comment below, and maybe you’ll even see one of your ideas go into the game!

Rename your workshop
We’ve had lots of feedback from players who want to be able to change the name of their workshop. We’re adding that feature in with this update! Head to the mayor’s office to complete a form and pay a service fee to change your workshop name – it’s a very official process!

Catch a new ride
We had lots of you suggesting that you’d like to be able to catch a wild animal to ride. We were inundated with requests for the colourful llama to be your trusty steed, so we’re adding this one in first!

If you want to hunt a colourful llama, you’ll need a trap cage to catch them with, as well as a specific type of food to increase the favour points. When ready, a button command will appear on screen that will indicate that you can tame it. After completing a series of quick time commands you’ll be able to make the llama your new mount.

Of course, as a mount, the attributes and loyalty of the colourful llama can be improved just like your horse and you can train the llama in the stable.

Annual workshop competition
So, are you a good builder? In this update, we’ll be adding a ranking system at the end of every year. On the last day of the year, we’ll announce who the winning builder is in Portia, according to your workshop scores. At the start of the next year, there will be an award ceremony hosted in Peach Plaza. You can choose whether you’d like to participate in this competition or not, but if you choose to give up, you will not receive a prize.

New weapon - gun
You’ll now be able to have a ranged weapon in My Time At Portia! At the moment, you can only use melee weapons (sword, hammer or boxing gloves). With this update, you’ll be able to get your hands on a new ranged weapon – a shotgun.

If you want to build a shotgun, you’ll need to collect the appropriate materials first. So, do you think this weapon will be powerful? We’ll let you find that out for yourselves! But we can tell you that the shotgun has an embedded laser device. Sounds cool, right?

We’ll also be adding harbour missions, the level 3 assembly station, and we’ll be optimising the riding system. Follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook, and stay tuned for more info!
