Hallo! John’s away so I’m taking over for our latest weekly rundown of the biggest-selling games on Steam over the previous seven days. Familiar faces are here, of course, but the charts also include more survival games than I’ve seen in yonks. The slightest peek of sun outside and you lot start acting as if it’s the end of the world, eh?

subserial-3

Hello fellow synthetic, would you like your breast implants in silicone or liquid nitrogen? In the world of Subserial Network, you could have either. But your real job is to hunt down troublemaking synthetics and dispatch them by using a retrofuturistic web browser. It s an upcoming game from interactive fiction wizards Aether Interactive. You might remember them as the makers of Arc Symphony (the forum-lurking story of a JRPG that never existed) and Localhost (another game about deleting poor machines). This time, it s definitely the right thing to do. Can you imagine what would happen if we didn t eliminate these data dissidents? Your manager can. We ll end up just like the humans. (more…)

SUPERHOT - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Alice O'Connor)

Super-stylish time-slowing shooter SUPERHOT is off to Japan in a new spin-off game, temporarily titled SUPERHOT JP. It’ll shoot and slice through Japanese environments from hot springs to karaoke bars, with new enemies, weapons, and other local fun. The folks at SUPERHOT Team aren’t making this one, rather Japanese studio GameTomo, who say they’re working “with guidance from” the creators. GameTomo plan to release SUPERHOT JP first in Japan and say it’ll only “possibly” go elsewhere later, but the fact that the website has an English translation suggests it’s likely. (more…)

This year’s communal Combat Mission scenario (click here to catch up on the story so far) incorporates a deadly version of the shell game. The computer-controlled British have a choice of three routes off the beach and the short-of-resources commenter-controlled Germans realistically can’t picket them all. Judging by the distribution of Axis units at the start of Turn 3, the players believe/hope the enemy will favour the westernmost route. Unfortunately, the Brits seem to have other plans. (more…)

You’ve been locked out of your cabin and you have to explore the woods. Turns out that getting your key back is going to involve a few spooky adventures. You know why? Because in Woodsy the woods are spooky. There are monsters everywhere, but said monsters very quickly can become your friends, if you run a series of errands on their behalf. It’s a delightful mix of scares and cares, and it is absolutely free.

The Warmind expansion has been out for a few days now, and while the DLC for Destiny 2 is light on missions, it is big on hidden surprises. A few intrepid explorers have been cracking the codes to locate a real world loot drop. And it was just located. After lots of decoding, users on the Reddit’s Raid Secrets board found a drop at Sleeping Beauty Mountain in upstate New York which contained a stash including a huge spear, based on the Valkyrie weapon from the new DLC.

two point hospital

Do no harm, goes the Hippocratic Oath. So it s with trepidation that I approach Two Point Hospital, a spiritual successor to Theme Hospital that could all too easily do harm to fond childhood memories of Bullfrog s heal em up. Thankfully, Alec s recent visit to these shiny new wards have put my mind at rest – it sounds like the team has successfully transplanted the heart of that game, but grafted on smart quality of life improvements (to muddle my medical metaphors). And now you can see it all in action in one handy video.

My dude Junkrat is looking glamorous as ever, in a leaked video from the Brazilian Overwatch Twitter account. Keen eyes from the Overwatch Reddit saw what Overwatch Twitter was messing up on, and posted the video to Overwatch YouTube. Or something. Point being, we’ve got a look at what’s happening for the game’s second birthday celebration, despite Blizzard not being super keen on the whole leaking to-do, I’m sure.

And Junkrat? Junkrat’s a legit pirate now. We have to call him Captain Bigboy. That’s the law of the sea. Sea Law.

If you ve not played The Temple of No before, it s good, and you should try it. These are the words that the makers of The Temple of No told me to say about their Twine game. The update to the game is also very good. These are not the words that the makers of The Temple of No told me to say about their game. They are words I settled on all by myself without outside influence. Because I am brave, much like any adventurer will need to be, in order to find the new mysteries hidden in The Temple of No. Also: there’s been a vague promise of fire. You should know that from the get-go.
