We know most esports pros are young, but not this young.

Team Secret, best known for its successful Dota 2 pro team, has just set up a pro Fortnite squad - and it includes a 13-year-old Londoner.

Kyle "Mongraal" Jackson, from Sidcup, is much younger than his 21, 20 and 17-year-old teammates, but that hasn't stopped him from dominating Epic's phenomenally-successful battle royale game.

For The King

Bold and bright, stuffed with charm and whimsy, For the King is gorgeous.

And its beguiling world is all a little misleading. Yes, the animations bring this oh-so-cute board game to life, and no, the game doesn't take itself too seriously. But beneath that day-glo veneer For the King is brutal, unflinchingly unfair in the way only a roguelike game can be. Right at the heart of it lies the stone-cold heart of a savage RPG... and pretty or not, this is not a game for the faint-hearted.

The story's one you've likely heard before; a cherished leader is dead, chaos is unleashed across the kingdom, and it's up to you - yes, you, mysterious stranger - to put things right again. Only in this instance, Chaos is a malevolent force of the same name that's intensified by too many lurking baddies, the sad demise of your squadmates, and even so much as a hint of dilly-dallying.

Valve's latest Steam sale is now on, and it's a big "hooray" to Denmark's bustling game development scene, featuring the likes of Inside, Echo, and A Hat in Time.

And what fantastic games they have made! Peruse the sale and you'll find Ultra Ultra's fascinating third-person shooter Echo ( 12.72 from 18.99), in which everything you do is thrown right back in your face as the game generates duplicates of you to kill yourself.

Sonic Mania

Sega has announced that its upcoming Sonic Mania Plus expansion update thing is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch on July 17th.

Sonic Manic Plus is essentially a refined, extended reworking of last year's excellent Sonic Mania - what Sega is calling the "definitive version". It takes the already rock-solid retro platforming core of the original and finesses it into a blurry blue sheen.

For starters, it introduces two new, if somewhat obscure, playable characters in the form of Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel (both first seen in the 1993 isometric arcade spin-off, SegaSonic the Hedgehog), along with an intriguing new Encore mode. This, says Sega, gives "a fresh look to familiar zones" with new challenges, layouts, and visual changes.

Here's an unlikely collaboration: Japanese mega publisher Bandai Namco, Lost in Harmony developer DigixArt and Wallace and Gromit creator Aardman Studios have joined forces for a story-driven narrative game set during World War 1.

11-11: Memories Retold has a painted visuals style you can see in the video below. The narration is In Flanders Field by John McCrae.

11:11, of course, refers to Armistice Day, "the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" of 1918, when the armistice was signed between the Allies and Germany at Compi gne, France, for the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front of World War 1.

Counter-Strike 2

Hot on the heels of the Netherlands declaring loot boxes are gambling and therefore illegal, Belgium has had its say.

The Belgian Gaming Commission looked at Star Wars Battlefront 2, FIFA 18, Overwatch and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and found only Star Wars was not in violation of the country's gambling legislation - and that's only because EA stripped out the game's loot boxes after its launch debacle.

It determined FIFA 18, Overwatch and CS:GO's loot boxes are a game of chance and so are subject to Belgian gambling law. Battlefront 2, at the time the investigation was conducted, did not have loot boxes, so escapes unscathed.

Perhaps inevitably, Microsoft is working to eradicate the eye-catching fan-made Halo Online mod Eurogamer reported on last week.

ElDewrito is (was?) a community-made mod for Halo Online, the cancelled free PC game based on Halo 3 Microsoft built for the Russian market.

ElDewrito lets you play multiplayer games in player-hosted servers, with multiple server browsers, player and emblem customisation, stat tracking and even ranked and social servers.

Update 24/04/2018, 11pm: As if UFOs popping up all over the place yesterday wasn't enough to convince everyone that an earth-rending conclusion to Fortnite's long-teased meteor disaster is imminent, emergency broadcast systems have now been activated in-game.

It all started on the official Fortnite twitter feed earlier today but, soon after, players discovered that the same test card now appeared on TV screens throughout the Battle Royale map.

Interestingly, the ever-ready-for-action Fortnite community has already done a deep dive into the game's innards, and found a number of sound files that correspond with the new TV emergency broadcasts. One of these, it transpires, is an incomplete message delivered in morse code that translates to "They don't want us to k...".
