PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS

A note from the editor: Jelly Deals is a deals site launched by our parent company, Gamer Network, with a mission to find the best bargains out there. Look out for the Jelly Deals roundup of reduced-price games and kit every Saturday on Eurogamer.

Update 8:36 pm: Looks like ShopTo has now raised the price of this one back up to a much more regular 24.85 price. It was nice while it lasted, though!

Original Story: If you've not been keeping up with things recently, you may have missed the fact that the international sensation of the year that is PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will finally be released on console next month, specifically arriving on Xbox's Game Preview program on December 12th.

Fornite's latest update is a whopper, fixing a lot of pesky bugs and adding some much-needed new content to both Battle Royale and Save the World.

The new update adds smoke grenades to Battle Royale. Smoke grenades can be found in all container types, but can also be found randomly as floor loot, providing a handy magician's escape or distraction for your enemy.

Two new leaderboards have also been introduced to Battle Royale: a global leaderboard, which is measured by wins and spotlights the top 50 players for the selected match type, and a scoreboard, measured by the amount of total experience gained.

Developer Scott Ethington has announced Ripped Pants at Work, a "frantic stealth game about searching for new pants". That's the trouser kind, by the way.

Ripped Pants at Work begins when a routine pencil-retrieval operation goes badly wrong, causing your trousers to tear so vigorously that they explode clean off.

From there, with your undergarments embarrassingly exposed, you're tasked with slipping unseen through the bustling rooms and corridors of your workplace (eventually moving out into the city streets) in search of new trousers.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda has spoken out on the future of Deus Ex - the first time the company has discussed the status of its long-running sci-fi series since reports emerged more than ten months ago that it had been placed on hiatus.

Back in January, Eurogamer revealed that Square Enix had put Deus Ex on hiatus after the well-regarded Deus Ex: Mankind Divided failed to generate the level of sales needed to grow the series into a mainstream franchise.

Prior to its release, Square had talked bullishly about its plans to create an "ongoing, expanding and connected game world built across a generation of core [Deus Ex] games", including a third, concluding entry for the narrative arc started in 2011's Deus Ex: Human Revolution. This did not come to pass. Following Mankind Divided's underwhelming sales, Square Enix became tight-lipped regarding Deus Ex's future prospects.

Hand of Fate 2

Update, 28/11/17: Defiant Development has announced that the delayed Xbox One and Xbox One X editions of its excellent deck-building RPG, Hand of Fate 2, will now launch on Friday December 1st. Both were originally due to release alongside the PC and PS4 versions earlier this month, but were held back due to unavoidable delays and issues in testing .

Original story, 4/10/17: Defiant Development has announced that Hand of Fate 2, the sequel to its unusual, thoroughly entertaining deck-building role-playing game, will release on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on November 7.

The original Hand of Fate's main gimmick was that it (mostly) shirked the ultra-immersive trappings of modern video game RPGs in favour of a more literal take on card-based tabletop questing. Most of the game was spent in a dingy chamber, face-to-face with a supremely well-designed digital dungeon master, known as the Dealer, who narrated proceedings with an irresistibly gravelly flamboyance as he laid out cards and flipped them over to dictate the unpredictable direction of your adventure.

Earlier this month, Take-Two interactive chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick told investors to expect "recurrent consumer spending" to be a key part of every game the company published.

"It may not always be an online model," said Zelnick, "it probably won't always be a virtual currency model, but there will be some ability to engage in an ongoing basis with our titles after release across the board.

"That's a sea change in our business. Recurrent consumer spending is 42 per cent of our net bookings in the quarter. It's been transformative for us."

Hearthstone's 2018 release schedule will take the form of three more big expansions, developer Blizzard has revealed.

After years of alternating between 100-plus card expansions and smaller, narrative-driven single-player "Adventure" drops, 2017 has seen a move to consolidate the two.

The result - three expansions in one year, with single-player content included - will continue into 2018.

Hysterical multiplayer brawler Gang Beasts is coming to PlayStation 4 on 12th December, just in time for family arguments this holiday season.

Gang Beasts sees players take on the role of Beef City thugs, going toe to toe in a variety of challenges (mainly: punching, kicking and humiliating each other). You can hurl your foes from fearsome heights, into fiery incinerators and hazardous machinery. Just the fun kind of violence everyone needs after a filling Christmas dinner.

Sid Meier's Civilization® VI: Australia Civilization & Scenario Pack

Firaxis has announced the first big expansion for strategy game Civilization 6.

It's called Rise and Fall, it costs 24.99 and it's out 8th February 2018.

The fancy trailer, below, shows poor old Sean Bean, Civilization 6's narrator, die once again, this time from some bastard plague. Civilization 6 trailer fans will remember poor old Sean Bean bit the dust in the main game's video. He doesn't have much luck, does poor old Sean Bean.
