Niffelheim - Andrew


Hi everyone,

please welcome Niffelheim ver. 0.9.020 introducing a new important NPC – the Raven!


Who is the Raven?

1. Raven appears as soon as you enter the world of Niffelheim and starts issuing quests.
2. Raven also tells stories about the world of Niffelheim. The stories are accessible through your Journal at any time.
3. After completing the last quest of the Raven you’ll get a Fragment of the portal to Asgard. Therefore you must complete this story arc by all means.
4. Raven issues quests for the entire team. Every player who currently online gets the reward for completion!
5. Raven comes flying to you only during daytime. But he won’t appear if there is nothing to tell you!


Sounds and balance for the new characters are still in development! We will complete this aspect once all new NPCs are in. Sorry for the temporary loose ends, this will surely be fixed!


Tweaks and changes:

1. All quests in the game are now issued for the entire team, as well as the rewards for completion. But only for the players currently online.
2. The “Conqueror” achievement has been fixed.

Please let us know about any bugs you encounter in the game, as some could escape the clutches of out testers. Many thanks to everybody for you reports. Incase you message has been missed, please write us via all communication channels. I’m doing my best to enter all bug reports to our tracking list right away,

The Beggar will be the next NPC to be introduced shortly.
We are still working on global GUI changes, new scenes, characters and balance. Please don’t mind the large updates, many new features are already included, but disabled for the time being or still in testing:)

Network
  • Improved algorithm used to establish connection to servers, now all servers should show the ping and be reachable (assuming they use UPnP or have the UPD port correctly open).
  • Added algorithm to aggressively reduce the refresh rate of NPCs depending on their distance to each player and if they are visible.
  • Reduced by ~80% the amount of data when syncing NPCs.
  • Greatly improved all bullet copy and poker machines sync data.
  • Reduced the amount of data transferred between client/server to sync page data.
  • Improved packet formation algorithm (new Hive generated, all servers need to be updated to be visible in the server list).
  • Greatly improved overall network packet size.

Gameplay
  • Increased interaction range from 1.0 to 1.5.
  • Improved NPC velocity computation.

Bugfixes
  • Fixed bug preventing music volume to change when using the Music volume bar.

Aesthetics
  • Removed life bar from merchants and other non-killable NPCs.
  • Improved Aimed Object Data behavior.
  • Changed item sorting rules, now the weapons come first, and it sorts the clothes more efficiently.

Translations
  • Added first version of Hungarian translation. Thank you lostprophet.hu.

Killing Floor: Incursion - [TW]Yoshiro
Hello everyone!

Killing Floor: Incursion is just over one week away for its next major update (and release on Steam) on November 7th! This update will bring with it a hardcore mode for the co-op campaign as well as the brand new Holdout mode - An endless challenge where players can leave their mark as the best Zed Killers around.

Today we want to talk more in depth about some of the feature of Holdout mode. If you’ve been keeping track, Incursion’s Holdout mode is an endless wave mode where players (or 2 person cooperative groups) make a stand and hold out as long as they can to be ranked by leaderboards per level. This includes using the brand new weapon, the Katana, exclusive to Holdout mode!

Today we want to go a bit more in depth about scoring and some of the mechanics exclusive to Holdout mode, starting with powerups!

As players continue the fight against the ever more difficult horde of Zeds in Holdout mode, power ups will make their appearance on the battlefield. These include:

  • Unlimited ammo - No reload and reduced recoil
  • Vampire - Damage dealt to an enemy regenerates player health and can add armor

  • Berserker - All melee does explosive damage, the player is also invincible

  • Zed Time - Puts the game in zed time while the player can move, reload and shoot in real time.
  • Nuke - Kills all zeds currently in the world[/color]

  • 4x Damage - Deal 4x normal damage with all weapons and damage types


Now beyond these amazing tools of Zed destruction, we have mentioned that players will be competing for top Zed Killer via Leaderboards. The way players will accomplish this is by their actions as they keep up the fight. Players are awarded points for certain actions which are:
  • Zeds Killed (bigger Zeds are worth more, bosses are worth the most!)
  • Consecutive head shots (after 3, in a short time period)

So Zed Hunters get practicing! We look forward to seeing just who is the most prepared for the Zed hordes!

Hope everyone had a great Halloween weekend! Today we have yet another significant update - the final part of our Improvements Milestone. Once again this update is mostly about improving the current content, but we did include some major features as well. Such as Building and Unit income/upkeep; renaming your towns, armies and more.

Now we are finally ready to completely focus on the big game changing features - such as Diplomacy and Lord relations. With that said - we have to warn you that there will be a significant delay with the next update - as Diplomacy is a massive change that will require a lot of balancing and polish before it`s ready for release. Hoping to bring you Update 35 - The Game Changer - around November 21st.

As always - thanks for your support, and please keep these suggestions and bug reports coming.

And so - presenting Update # 34:

New Features
-Added ability to upgrade building level on the world map by clicking on it
-Archers look for a new target, if they can`t hit something 3 times in a row (unit behind a wall e.t.c)
-Added ability to rename Armies and Towns
-Added monthly Unit Upkeep (all military units) and Unit Income (from livestock and serfs)
-Added monthly Building Upkeep (all military buildings) and Building Income (from economy buildings)
-Displaying Monthly income and upkeep on towns, armies and main screen (doesn`t count taxation)
-When capturing towns, player will get to keep all the buildings and walls previously constructed in the town
-Reworked Pausing the game - various menus now auto-pause the game
-New way to display development notifications in-game. Smaller window that fades out, and plays small notification sound

Fixes and Improvements
-Fixed various issues with the game un-pausing on it`s own
-Added multiple dialogue for build options when clicking on a world map building
-Fixed issue with not being able to collect all taxes when recruit units or construct buildings window is open
-Screen will not continue scrolling on hold RMB if only 1 unit is selected
-Updated messages for offline play, entering username and email on the first run
-Reworked how offline play and entering username works, added option to the offline play
-If the player starts in Offline mode and goes online, if they have not yet created a username, they will be prompted for one
-Fixed first run of the game issue with banners floating on the screen
-City Buttons updated - removed Exit City, and moved Enter City to the Top
-Fixed problem with some villages missing a building plot
-Potential fix for a rare bug that not allows selecting all nations on campaign creation screen

AI Changes
-AI when defending large towns will be sure to build street barricade palisade
-AI will construct wall mounted ballistas on palisade towers when defending towns
-AI will construct full range or wall mounted siege defenses on stone walls, including in Skirmish game mode
-When AI army attacks your Hamlet it will construct camp palisade to protect itself
-When AI captures player town in auto-resolve, it`ll right away put together a garrison to protect the new town

Balance Changes
-Trebuchet and Catapult do a lot more damage vs walls
-Ranged unit attacked nerfed by around 30%, especially for Hunter and Bowman
