Coming soon to a Retro-Pixel Castles near you, a few new systems that I think will really add to the depth and complexity of the game play. The influence system, heroes and building/wall damage.
As always, more content than whats on the road map will be added along with the usual bug fixes. These are just the primary goals of the update. There's also a few things originally planned for InDev 13 that didn't quite make it in, that I plan to get into 14.
InDev 14 Road Map
Influence System - One of the more interesting features of InDev 14 will be the influence system. As currently planned, the influence system will be a new tab added to the work tab on the left hand side, when selected you'll have various "godly" influence command you can use to manipulate the environment. For example, you could scare or lure villagers around, maybe zap a monster with lightning, or regrow a small chunk of trees.
These influences will cost "Influence" points that will be slowly generated as you play the game, and the rate these points are accumulated will be based on your village's average happiness.
Heroes - This will be the first update to introduce hero class villagers to the game. The first heroes added will just be your basic fighters, they will be born/summoned randomly from time to time. For the most part they will act like normal villagers, but with a couple of major differences. First, they will never be allowed to be assigned to buildings at all. Second, they will have boosted stats, and third they will roam around your village protecting your villagers and slaying nearby monsters on their own. For example, some expected AI you'll see is heroes patrolling the village killing off near by monsters, and running to protect villagers, buildings and resources that are attacked.
Building and Wall Damage - Finally, monsters will be able to damage your pretty things. This means if you try to wall yourselves in, the bad guys are just going to start tearing down your walls!
It's important to note though, that while the monsters will be able to tear down walls and knock over buildings, they will usually try to take the shortest non-blocked path to your village. You can use this to your advantage to bottleneck them into a pit of towers, but if you wall yourself in completely, all bets are off!
