We've glad to announce a major patch to Foresight - V1.04. (BuildID 487410)
First of all, I'll like to apologize to the folks who have been limited by the fixed shortcuts of Foresight previously. This is especially so for European folks using different types of keyboards. But, in V1.04, you'll be able to assign your own shortcuts based on your own keyboard's layout to almost all Foresight commands.
The new controls interface isn't a quick fix and wasn't intended to be in the game initially. It was through feedback from users like you that we discovered and recognized this problem. Thus, we hope you'll be able to get a better gaming experience after updating to V1.04.
Controls
There're many controls available and some controls are "layered". This means, although they're in the same category, they only appear at different times, thus allowing the same shortcut key to be assigned to it.
These layers are differentiated by teal, green and red. As long as the colours are different, you're allowed to assign the same key as a shortcut.
An example would be - getting a ship to join a fleet > Fleet -> Join Fleet -> Assign to Fleet 1 or Officer's Quarters -> Officer's Mess -> (Pick a commander)
Notice there're 3 layers in this instance. In each layer, the same buttons do not appear together at the same time, thus allowing them to share the same shortcut keys if desired.
The key binding system is as flexible as it can be, barring certain keys from being used, ie, F12, Alt+tab etc... but it's possible to have long key combinations like Ctrl+Shift+Alt+Numpad 5 ... while it's technically possible, we highly discourage that since such a combination makes a shortcut... not so short anymore.
Multiplayer
We fixed a host of issues pertaining to multiplayer and some regression bugs as well.
1) Now there'll be more synchronization points for ships 2) Fighters no longer appear out of nowhere (unless syncing) 3) All clients and server will not stop execution even when you deactivate the game application. The game will still run its logic without rendering in the background. Of course, this only applies to multiplayer and you must already be in a game session prior.
List of issues fixed
1) Fixed texture for NSAU 16:9 panel 2) Fixed texture for UI list box so that it won't look so translucent. 3) Changed the texture for plasma burns to a more fire-realistic variant. 4) Fixed a small problem when you head into the campaign mode and suddenly there's a loud boom of sounds of fighting. 5) C2End cutscene assets are now cached prior so eliminate any jerking. No difference to memory usage; flow is improved. 6) Fixed a bug with Salvagers having a -65XXX% harvested during multiplayer games. 7) Fixed a bug where EVA doesn't report a unit construction complete for fighters and runners. 8) Implemented auto-reflection for tool tips that will reflect YOUR desginated shortcuts, not the default ones. 9) Fixed a bug in mission 20 where Ganymede is missing. 10) Fixed a bug in mission 8 where the player's assign path of escort isn't properly related. 11) Fixed a bug in the mission briefing room SAVE feature - requring you to press BACK to return to the game. That's no longer necessary and any options changed will not cause a prompt to appear.
** There were a lot more implementations and bug fixes that can't be listed out here.
We hope that with this fix, everybody will be able to at the very least, see where all the commands are and remap it if necessary.
With this, we'll head back to looking at some of our gameplay improvements for the next patch, which will commence development next week.
