Nether: Resurrected - PlayNether

photo by : vanilla @ Nether Community

Patch Notes #3 11/8
The Patch to fix crashes, additional launcher issues, and more in-game bugs is coming tonight (5-8 hours to roll out to all servers and players)! We’ve also went back to random spawns after the large amount of community feedback requesting random spawns until we can more properly balance saved locations!

Note that this is a FULL GAME DOWNLOAD, we said we wouldn't do this again but this is critical to fix performance, lag, and crashing issues. This patch will make Nether more stable and a better patching solution will be implemented in following patches.
  • Fixed potential crashes and lockups on the client related to physics code
  • Greatly improved framerate on the client (Some users should see performance increase)
  • Fixed a problem where servers would eventually stop responding to connections
  • Fixed an issue that would eventually degrade performance on the servers
  • Added more controls for admins to easily ban and kick cheaters from within the game
  • Added bullet whiz-by sounds near the player
  • Added bullet impact sounds near the player
  • Marketplaces will now show up as icons on the map
  • Fixed some pickups that previously couldn't be picked up
  • Added some fixes to try to address looping download issue in launcher
  • Added some fixes to try to prevent admin-related problems when installing
  • If installer fails, it won't try to redownload it if it doesn't need to
  • If the game is now already running when the installer starts, it will make sure to kill it first
  • Fixed some launcher issues arising from installing two launchers in two different directories
  • Fixed voice chat to be more reliable
  • Added setting to mute all voice chat in the settings menu
  • Fixed several collision issues
  • Fixed an exploit where market could be made accessible anywhere in the map
  • Removed marketplace access from character select
  • Restored random spawning until we can balance saved locations
  • Players can now enter console commands in the chat box by prefacing them with "/"
  • Various art fixes and texturing fixes

Hey everyone!

Since we've launched, we found a few bugs, crushed them, seen them driven before us, and heard the lamentations of their significant bug-others. The update posted today should take care of the following issues:
  • Combo length achievements (Centurion, etc) unlock properly.
  • SOS achievement has been fixed.
  • Points on the Board achievement has been fixed.
  • Swing and a Miss achievement should unlock on steam, as well as in-game.
  • Heart Attack achievement text has been updated to be more clear.
  • King of the Will achievement has been updated to just beating a 30 million score.
  • Barbershop achievement has been fixed.
  • Lifetime achievements (Shifting Sands, etc) show their progress in Steam now.
  • If you play on a new computer, your cloud save should sync properly.
The update has been live as of ~3pm EST, so if you see any other issues, please report them in the forums! We are keeping an eye on them!

Half-Life 2 - Programmer Joe
The beta for Half-Life 2 (including Lost Coast, Episode 1, Episode 2, and Half-Life: Source) has been updated with enhanced VR support. To opt-in to these changes open the Properties for Half-Life 2, click on the Betas tab and pick Beta from the dropdown (in a few cases this is labelled SteamPipe beta.)

The following Virtual Reality-related changes are included:
  • Improved readability of the UI in VR
  • Removed the IPD calibration tool. TF2 will now obey the Oculus configuration file. Use the Oculus calibration tool in your SDK or install and run "OpenVR" under Tools in Steam to calibrate your IPD.
  • Added dropdown to enable VR mode in the Video options. Removed the -vr command line option.
  • Added the ability to switch in and out of VR mode without quitting the game
  • By default VR mode will run full screen. To switch back to a borderless window set the vr_force_windowed convar.
  • Added support for VR mode on Linux
  • Added VR support to Half-Life: Source

If you're cool with bugs, and want to support the game, then we'd love to have you on board. Bear in mind any issues WILL be fixed, so if you're cool with that, feel free to buy away.

However, if the money is important to you and you want a perfectly stable and polished build out of the gate and no risk of temporary compatibility or performance problems, please consider downloading the demo, even if just to test it runs, and ensuring the game is ready for you, and you are ready for the game.

While we're very proud of what we have and many people play the game for hundreds of hours, we are aware the game isn't perfect and may have glitches or performance/compatibility issues on some machines, particularly in the next few days as we suddenly have a ton more of people with different configurations running the game, and an issue on a few machines can suddenly become an issue on hundreds or thousands of machines, and as a small development team our ability to mass test is limited by our prior wonderful customers who were interested in testing.

We want everyone who buys to be satisfied in the meantime, even if it costs us sales. If you try the demo and hit these issues, please be kind. We provided it so you didn't spend money to find out it's too early for you, or flat out doesn't run for you, and to help us locate and fix these issues without people paying for the privilege if possible.

Please bear with us, and try the demo if you're not offering the early purchase in part to support development.

Love,

Indie Stone

(Remember to try Safe / Compatibility launch option in Steam if you have problems!)
