That is one cool, collected green mutant platypus quill monster

VLAMBEER NEVER STOPS. I know. They told me so. Seriously though, Luftrausers isn’t even off the launchpad yet, and the Super Crate Box developer is already making admirable progress on a very impressive-looking action-roguelike called Wasteland Kings. I actually had the chance to play it and discuss its various ins-and-outs with Vlambeer recently, so expect impressions very soon. But until then, know this: it’s a rapid-fire, deliciously crunchy randomized romp starring a cavalcade of characters from Vlambeer’s past. And the craziest part? The arcade action maestros are going to stream a very large portion of its development – with you playing along at home via Steam Early Access.

I bet there is candy down there. I'm nearly sure of it.

How long have we been waiting for Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs now? Has it been years? Decades? Centuries? Eons? I forget. Perhaps it’s because I HAVE AMNESIA. No, no, that’s not actually true. I just don’t feel like looking it up. But today is a good day, because there’s finally a dim, ominously flickering light at the end of the tunnel. Though the machine might be intended> for pigs, we’ll be able to wrap our non-cloven hands around it early next month.

Sundays are for struggling to not watch the clock all weekend. And when the battle lulls, we can think about taking a few months to catch up in the debates of our time.

  • Polygon does a great big Rolling Stone piece on The Fullbright Comany: “”I am … merely a curious explorer, who has become entwined in this family tale … These people matter and deserve to be remembered.” This excerpt, from writer Michael Gakuran’s blog series, describes the thrill of Haikyo. Literally translated, this Japanese word means “ruins.” It’s also a term for urban exploration, the act of investigating abandoned buildings and houses.”

I co-own a very popular website about PC games with a large audience of excellent PC gamers, and there’s a PC game I want to play that doesn’t have enough funding yet. Alum.

Exactly what you'd expect from a game called SplattersI have to confess that I’m playing Super Splatters with my feet propped up on my desk and a joypad in my hands. I could play it with the mouse and keyboard, but this just feels right, which makes sense as it was previously an Xbox 360 game. Now it’s here on the PC, and I’ve spent the morning bursting goo balls over bombs, and tactically smearing my viscera to the delight of a TV audience. It is an odd and delightful game. (more…)

Oh no, zombies! I will get past them by utilizing my patented ACTION SIT.

Oh my, Techland’s totally-not-a-Dead-Island-sequel-despite-being-set-on-an-island-of-the-dead game Dying Light actually looks good. Really good>. After Dead Island: Riptide capsized into a swirling maelstrom of disappointment, I was expecting the worst, but I think I’m actually excited. For another zombie game. Will wonders never cease? Techland’s put out 12 minutes of gameplay footage, and its blend of Mirror’s-Edge-inspired sprintleaping, undead slide-kicking, and sheer, adrenaline-soaked night flight terror> looks wonderfully promising. Watch below.

DID YOU HEAR ABOUT VIDEOGAMES CARA????? THERE ARE VIDEOGAMES!!!!!!Hello there! Cara here. Sorry I couldn’t find a picture of a bucket. Mr Lewie Procter is moving house currently, as he is leaving London for newer pastures. I imagine him as a kind of suaver Shaggy from Scooby Doo type, buying a Mystery Machine and going on adventures as the bootstrap-pulling entrepreneur selling cheap videogames out the back of his VW. But it turns out he is just going to travel around the world Savygamering to fund himself. BORING. Tune in after the jump for a haphazard selection of cheap Cara games from Savygamer.co.uk. (more…)

The wild birdcar attempts to migrate alongside a flock of non-car birds. Forever an outsider to both birds and cars, it is shunned. Such is the high price of its incredible racing prowess.

Trawling through Steam Greenlight might often lead to the feeling that you’re trapped in a labyrinth minefield of well-meaning but not necessarily, er, high-quality offerings, but every once in a while it yields a gem of absolutely gleaming> promise. Such is the case with beautiful-looking, bonkers-sounding all-terrain (including sky) racer Krautscape. It sees you rocketing around in tightly coiled airplane cars, down a track that grows on the fly at the whim of whomever’s in first place. Given that only a thin sliver of red earth separates you from the sky’s unbreakable gravity lasso, odds are someone’s going to fall. And then? Why, your car unfurls its wings, of course! More cars need wings, I think. Let’s be honest here: that would easily solve most of humanity’s most pressing problems.

It is (not) midnight (due to snoozing, sorry – Ed) and hello youse.

While the Midnight Table is away getting some woodworm seen to, I thought I would drop in to the old homestead to update you on some cool board game news. Yeah, it’s that Gencon time of year, which means I’m at home reading about Gencon while lucky people are actually at Gencon, and I want to cry. But at least there’s exciting BOARD GAME DRAMA dropping all over the place, right?

Shall I tell you what has caught my eye? (more…)
