We have released a Beta update for Counter-Strike 1.6.
Changes in this update are:
<ul>
<li>Set snd_noextraupdate to "1" by default, this value provides better performance for current PCs
<li>Added support for hitting Ctrl-A to select all text in the game console
<li>Improved download status when doing a fast HTTP download
<li>Better filter between normal (4:3) and widescreen video modes in the video options dialog
<li>Fixed first mouse press sometimes getting lost after alt-tabbing back into the game
<li>Fixed Delete key not working in the game console
<li>Fixed in game view jumping when going out to the main game ui
</ul>

Tripwire Interactive, makers of Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad have picked the winners of their Workshop based mapping Competition. Congratulations to all the prizewinners including the top three who each won $5,000! We're excited to announce the fifth set of games and software titles to advance through Steam Greenlight, and be offered worldwide distribution via Steam. • Evoland – This journey through the history of action/adventure gaming caught our attention early on with their dramatic gameplay video and proved to also be a community favorite, getting voted up the charts in just a month.
  
• Huntsman:The Orphanage – This unconventional survival-horror game has captured the interest of the community by showing a lot of detail, posting gameplay videos and responding frequently to fans.
  
• Kingdom Rush – This highly rated tower-defense mobile game comes to PC and Mac, exciting the gaming press and picking up supporters across the Greenlight community.
  
• Legends of Dawn – This open-world RPG has moved up the Greenlight charts quickly and steadily since being posted at the end of December. Along the way, they almost doubled their funding goal on Kickstarter.
  
• Organ Trail: Director's Cut – This retro zombie survival game brings you back to the days of gaming where your friends lived long enough to die of dysentery.
  
• Receiver – Detailed FPS game that puts you in control of solving puzzles and the mechanics of operating your weapons.
  
• Surgeon Simulator 2013 – This simulation game quickly climbed the charts with their free demo and hilariously tricky gameplay.
  
• War Thunder – This World War II MMO has seen huge success in its open beta, already logging a half-million players and tens of millions of hours played, translating to a huge community of voters on Greenlight as well.

 
As with past batches, these titles will be released independently in the months ahead, as they complete development and integrate with any of the Steamworks features they are interested in utilizing.

Sai is very pleased with all the attention she got this weekend! The tournament for her kiss is still running and she told me that the competing marauders look promising. Today we dive deeper into Sai’s obscure past.

<a href="http://www.isotx.com/?p=5718">Sai found herself in quite a predicament</a> after her airship crashed and she was kidnapped by Alesta and her band of marauders. Alesta told her that she worked with Sai’s father to fight against the Emperor of Rahmos. However, marauders are only loyal for a price. Alesta demanded one of his daughters and he chose Sai.

In the days after her kidnapping, Alesta brought Sai to Anchorpoint, the biggest pirate town in Kathos. At first Sai thought about escaping and going home. Her nights were filled with visions of her mother and her sisters. But whenever she saw Alesta, she was reminded of how her father had betrayed her. She wasn’t being kidnapped; her father knew exactly where she was.

When did she stop being a prisoner? One day, just after they reached Anchorpoint, Sai woke up and realized going home wasn’t among her options. Suddenly she fully understood what Alesta’s loyalty meant for her family. If Sai tried to go home, Alesta would sell the family out to the Emperor. And the Emperor didn’t deal lightly with traitors. Exile or imprisonment would be the best outcomes. However, traitors of the Emperor were mostly sent to the quarries in the North. Sai and her family would become slaves, chipping away stone for the rest of their days.

Sai decided that morning that a pirates’ life was all that was left for her. First order of business; commandeering her own air ship.
