The entirety of this video is impressive, but things start to get really crazy around 1:50 in.
If you're wondering where these guys got the time/money to build something you'd normally only see in a platforming video game, Red Bull stumped up the cash.

The 3DS XL add-on circle pad got its first public airing at this year's Tokyo Game Show. I checked it out—and it was pretty good! Nintendo, however, didn't give a release date for the peripheral. Until now.
The 3DS XL Circle Pad Pro will be out in Japan on November 15, Nintendo announced today. It's priced at ¥1,500 (US$19). No word on when it will hit the West.
Of course, the 3DS XL peripheral can be used with the same titles that supported the original 3DS Circle Pad Pro.

The delightful Zac Gorman, who must be a good person if he loves Wind Waker this damn much, has come up with both a t-shirt and a poster paying tribute to Nintendo's post-apocalyptic high seas adventure.
They both feature different pieces of art, and are available from his store either individually or as part of a package deal.
There's my Christmas wish list sorted. And it's only October!

Police in Spain have won the admiration of Nintendo nerds worldwide this year after naming a major sting operation after a bunch of Pocket Monsters.
Operation Pokémon is the name given to an effort by Spanish police to stamp out corruption amongst the ranks of the nation's politicians. Why "Pokémon"? There are two theories. One is that because there were so many suspects that they almost matched the total number of Pokémon. A more believable one is because the corruption is apparently so rife that the cops simply want to "catch 'em all".
Sounds like a bad joke, I know, but the name, at least, is real.
Over 15 people, including the Mayors of Ourense and Boqueixón, have been arrested thus far. While none have fainted, you could still say police actions have nevertheless been....super effective. OK, I'm sorry, I'm done now.

It may not be quite 1:1 scale, but at 18.5 inches, this new Mass Effect statue is still one enormous piece of adult collectible.
Only 1000 of these recreations of the villainous Sovereign will be made, with preorders available at BioWare's store (below). If they're not live when you visit, they should be ready to go by the morning.
It'll cost you $350 if you're interested, which for something of that size isn't too bad.

This is the work of Anthony Jones, a concept artist previously employed at Sony's Santa Monica studio, and a man who can draw both monsters and robots better than almost anyone else on Earth.
In the gallery below you'll see examples of his work, which includes all kinds of stuff, from commission pieces to toy design work for Hasbro to some of the fan art that we've actually featured previously here on Kotaku.
Those who like what they see, there's plenty more of it over on Jones' personal site and CGHub page.

Director J. J. Abrams was on Conan tonight, and was dying to show off footage from the new Star Trek sequel. You know, the one that's not even done yet.
Surprisingly, Paramount Pictures let him! What follows is equal parts hilarious and disappointing.

Let's stop talking about the losers from the first US Presidential debate, and instead talk winners. Like the guy who got a Pokémon joke up on CNBC's news ticker.

Let's say you really, really want a Wii U for Christmas. Problem is, it's pretty tough getting hold of a pre-order, because most places are sold out. What options are you left with?
Two. The first is to suck it up and spend the holidays without a Wii U. The second is to take to eBay and/or Amazon, where savvy assholes and re-sellers are more than happy to get you a Wii U. For a price.
At time of writing there are several Wii U consoles, some with game bundles and some without, going for over $1000 on eBay. Even funnier, shipping on some of these consoles can be priced at $200+. For shipping. It had better get to my house on a procession of elephants sounding trumpets for that kind of fee.
(For reference, the Wii U's retail prices are $299 (standard) and $349 (deluxe) respectively in the US.)
That's the price being asked, though. As for what people are willing to pay, things are a little more reasonable (relatively), with the highest bid on a Wii U auction currently at $465 for the deluxe console, a mark-up of only $116, which isn't too bad.
For now. I'd imagine things will get even crazier once Christmas inches closer and loved ones become more desperate.

Just this week, I bought a pair of Converse Chuck Taylors for the first time since… maybe middle school? I'd forgotten how much fun these shoes can be, even if they are a little bit hard to get on and off every day.
But while my rust-colored sneaks are cool, they're not as cool as these wicked custom Game of Thrones Chuck Taylors, which Etsy user Tannim is selling for $115 a pair.
Those Lannister ones up top are a little bit loud for me, but I really dig the Stark and Arryn ones. Though man, I dunno if I could rep House Arryn on my shoes every day.
Check out some other highlights:

Would you consider throwing down for these? If so, which house? Does the nature of the house matter more to you than the color scheme? Those Targaryen shoes are pretty hot…
