Today Namco-Bandai held a Macross 30th Anniversary event at their booth in the Tokyo Game Show. During the event they talked about upcoming Macross projects like Macross the Musiculture (a Macross-themed stage musical debuting this fall in Japan) and showed the first non-teaser trailer for the new Macross movie, Macross FB7. There were even several short interviews with veteran Macross voice actors from across the franchise.

But the highlight of the show was the final fifteen minutes where Megumi Nakajima (Ranka Lee in Macross Frontier) gave a mini-concert of some of her most popular Macross songs. This was followed up by 20-year-old Haruka Chisuga, winner of the 30th Anniversary Miss Macross idol search competition making her Macross singing debut.

Check out the videos to see them in action. (And sorry about the sound quality, it was too loud for the camera's mic.)

Expect The Wii U Version of Dragon Quest X Next Spring... Maybe... HopefullyAt Tokyo Game Show 2012, Square Enix held an event with special guests, Yuuji Horii, the creator of the Dragon Quest series, and producer Yousuke Saitou to showcase the Wii U version of Dragon Quest X.

During the stage event, Horii was asked when the release date for the Wii U version of the game would be. Horii was evasive at first, but tentatively answered "Sometime next spring." Saitou stressed that this was not a set date but rather a target and that the development team was working hard towards release of the game.

Saito also noted that allowing for players to use their Wii version characters in the Wii U version open beta was "technologically feasible" but did not make any definite statements as to if it would be implemented.

Giant Robots and Giant Insects Look Even Cooler in LEGOIn Earth Defense Force, you save the globe by blowing up huge bugs and big robots, which lay waste to Japanese urban environments.

At the game's Tokyo Game Show booth, LEGO master builder Yoshikazu Saitou has recreated Earth Defense Force in brick form.

Don't expect an EDF set to hit your local LEGO shop anytime soon, but hopefully Saitou's work provides enough of a blueprint to make your own.

At this year's Tokyo Game Show, Square Enix showed off its newest figures, as well as upcoming ones in unpainted prototype form.

I Kissed A Girl With My Brain... The Results Weren't So GoodFind out if you really like each other by testing your brain waves. That's what the Brain Kiss app tests to see.

By wearing a brain wave scanner and looking into each other's eyes for 15 seconds, you can get the results of how you really feel about the person you're looking at in 5 levels of attraction: Like very much, Like, So-so, Not very, and No interest.

I got a chance to try it out at the Architect Co., Ltd. booth at Tokyo Game Show 2012. The companion at the desk fitted the brain wave scanner onto my head and started the app. We then looked into each other's eyes for 15 seconds which was pretty embarrassing (she was pretty cute), and got out results.

According the app screens, her feelings for me were "Like very much," but my feelings for her were "No interest..." (Above image) I would swear it wasn't true, but it's kind of hard to argue with science.

It might be fun to try Brain Kiss with my friends, but while the app is free, the brain wave scanner costs ¥9,500 (US$121.5), which is a little steep for what is kind of a novelty game... There is also a brain training app that utilizes the brain wave scanner, Zone Trainer, that is scheduled for release in fall, 2012.

I should go back and ask that companion out for some coffee after the game show...

The First Guy in Line Didn't Come to Play GamesMeet Keita Wada. The 24 year-old was the first person in line for the first public day of this year's Tokyo Game Show.

You'd think he would be the hardest of the hardcore gaming fans. He's not. In fact he's not planning on playing a single game at the Tokyo Game Show this year.

Instead he's here for the Macross 30th Anniversary stage show at Namo-Bandai's booth where they will premiere the trailer for the new movie, Macross FB7. As soon as it's over, he's bailing on the show for another event.

When asked how he got the first ticket for the show he had a one word answer: "Guts."

Different Takes on Final FantasyAt this year's Tokyo Game Show, Square Enix is showcasing how various illustrators and manga artists envision Final Fantasy. The result is a different spin on the Final Fantasy games and characters you know and love.

Many of the illustrators (such as Higasa Akai, Aguri Igarashi, and Shiro Amano) have either done art for Square Enix on different games or properties—but not necessarily Final Fantasy! This is a collaboration between FF and Square Enix's manga imprint GanGan. Have a look.

Guy Does Every Drug Ever, Then Draws Himself While HighFiled right under "Things I'd never do but kind of wish I would" is this art stunt/project by Washington D.C. based artist Bryan Lewis Saunders. A little while back, Saunders took a ton of different drugs and drew a portrait of himself while under the influence of each one. Sure, coke and pot are here, but so are Butalbitals, a dilaudid/morphine cocktail, and a snort of computer duster. Holy hell.

This amazing and, frankly, disturbing feature at Cultso shows all of the self-portraits Saunders made, and it's harrowing, fascinating, and totally worth checking out.

Would you ever consider doing something like this? Do you think you could find the energy to draw a self-portrait after taking a bunch of dilaudid and morphine? Do you think this was maybe just an excuse to do lots of drugs? Oh, and what games will you be playing this weekend?

Feel free to talk drugs, or whatever else, here or over in the Talk Amongst Yourselves forum. Have a wonderful weekend, one and all.
