Koei's hack and slash series Warriors Orochi is headed to the Wii U when it launches in Japan on December 8 with Musou Orochi 2 Hyper, a Wii U version of the PS3 and Xbox 360 Orochi game.
Musou Orochi 2 was released in the West as Warriors Orochi 3.
A live demo of the newest Call of Duty game showed off how Black Ops II's splitscreen multiplayer will work on the Wii U. Two players can go head-to-head with one playing using the GamePad's screen and controls and another using the controller to participate on a big-screen TV. We'll have more on the Wi U version of Black Ops II soon.
Game designer Tetsuya Takahashi and his team at Monolith Soft are working on a totally new title for the Wii U.
At Monolith, Takahashi designed Xenoblade Chronicles (above) and the Xenosaga games. Before founding that studio, he designed Xenogears while working at Square Enix.
No word on what his current Wii U project is or when it will be released.
Nintendo just revealed that Bayonetta 2 is coming to the Wii U. Osaka-based game studio Platinum Games, who developed the first Bayonetta, is once again bringing the character to life.
Nintendo is publishing this Wii U exclusive. Atsushi Inaba of Okami fame is producing, and Yusuke Hashimoto, who produced the first Bayonetta, will be directing.
The brief trailer doesn't show any game play footage, but does show Bayonetta's new pistol heels, which are now blue, reflecting the character's new color motif. In the first game, her heels were a red hue.
No word on when gamers can expect Bayonetta 2 to shoot up their Wii U consoles.
Nintendo's sci-fi action franchise will be debuting in miniature form on the Wii U, as an attraction of the Nintendo Land game. A demo today showed one player controlling Samus with a Wii Remote and Nunchuk and another steering a spaceship via the Wii U GamePad. Players will need to hold off advancing waves of aliens for as long as hey can. We'll have more on Metroid Blast soon.
Nintendo unveiled the "Nintendo TVii" app for their new Wii U console today at their press event in New York.
The app, which runs as a "second screen experience" on the game pad, is personalized to each member of the household, with a separate set of recommendations and favorites for each profile. It connects not only to streaming services from Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon, but also also to a user's TiVo and live TV. In addition to movies and television, it also promises features for sports fans.
Ideally, the Wii U then becomes a tool to connect all of a user's TV and streaming services into one centralized location, and of course also features social tools like friend recommendations and (optional) connections to Twitter and Facebook.
Nintendo TVii charges no monthly fee and comes bundled with every Wii U.
It's never too early for preorder bonuses! At today's Nintendo event it was announced that folks that put their money down on the Wii U's LEGO-powered launch game will secure an exclusive minifig, which is all LEGO fans really need to know.
The minifig in question is of Rex Fury, the evil criminal mastermind you'll be tasked with tracking down in LEGO City Undercover, but that's not important right now. What's important is that it's a figure you can only get for preordering the game. What the game is about or indeed, who the minifig portrays? Details. Bah.
At a special event today in New York City, Nintendo announced the follow up to the hugely successful Wii console will be available on Sunday, November 18th.
