Are you a bombastic sort of Knight? Do your friends describe your personality as *explosive*? Do you favor detonation over mediation?
Do you like to place explosive devices on the ground and then blow things to tiny bits with them? Then we have some information that might be of use to you!
To wit: There are a number of detailed changes being made to shard bomb behavior in Spiral Knights. These changes were initially detailed in a previous post on the official forums. Here's what's happening:
New Bombs and Bomb Behavior The following bombs have new attack behavior, as described in the above link.

Crystal Bomb

Sun Shards

Radiant Sun Shards

Rock Salt Bomb

Ionized Salt Bomb

Additionally, new bombs have been introduced with this patch and some existing bomb damage types and recipes have changed.
To summarize the changes: 'Shard bombs' previously sent 'shrapnel' in random directions, damaging enemies in their path. The new behavior for these bombs is a bit more dynamic. Now, individual shards are expelled and 'stick' to surfaces, where they in turn explode. The effect is to create both a primary explosion and then a series of secondary explosions, both to create a more "bomb-like" explosion overall, and to give a bit of variation to how these detonations occur.
Bomb Acquisition Recipes for these bombs are available in all the usual places including NPC vendor Basil, the Bazaar, and the Hall of Heroes. Additionally, these bombs will be added to your Supply Depot catalog as you complete missions.
Existing Bomb Owners: We have worked hard to ensure these changes will work for both gameplay balance and, of course, your enjoyment of the game! However, we do realize that many players will be invested in certain modes of play. As a thank you for both your testing and feedback, as well as the time you have invested into old systems, we would like to offer you a token of 'thanks' -- any current owners of shard bombs at the time of this patch's release (Aug 8th) will receive a free gift.
Via an in-game mail you will receive the following for each bomb you own:

Crystal Bomb: 1 Variant Ticket

Sun Shards: 2 Variant Tickets

Rock Salt Bomb: 2 Variant Ticket

Ionized Salt Bomb: 3 Variant Ticket

Radiant Sun Shards = 3 Variant Ticket

Please allow up to 24 hours from the time the patch goes live to receive your rewards.
Additional Item Changes

Reduced the size of the damage area for all Flourish-style swords

Adjusted the particle effects of Flourish-style swords to better reflect the damage area

Increased the blast radius and added a chance to inflict Stun on the Irontech Bomb, Irontech Destroyer and Big Angry Bomb

Made minor adjustments to the sound effects on some bombs

I’m happy to announce that due to many requests/suggestions and the awesomeness of the Curiosity Mars Landing, the next Lunar Flight update will feature a Mars Map and will be suggested as (Expert Difficulty). I’ve been doing a bit of thinking about it and it seems like a great concept to pursue.
Clearly this is a fictional scenario and the LM was never designed for Mars but it should make for a fun new set of challenges. Featuring a brand new Ambient Music Track from Jason Poots, Mars will also be a visual contrast to the Moon. A variety of terrain features, eroded from water flows, dusty clouds and dense fog. We are also looking into to adding dust build up on the LM which will be spotless clean when you get a New LM.
For the experienced Module Pilot, Mars offers a new set of physics dynamics to add to the mix. With it’s higher gravity constant and low atmospheric density creating drag, fuel consumption will be higher. This will be a level that you will want to have your LM upgraded for but the Mission rewards will be worth it.
This will be a free content update to say thankyou to all the people who have supported the project thus far. You have been waiting for something new to play and the update will include additional Achievements to get and a new highest Rank, Level 8 (Title TBD)
There will be further announcements in the coming weeks about additional new features coming to Lunar Flight.
