Hot drinks!Once in a while in this job, you get to speak to a hero. A developer whose work you’ve always more than admired – perhaps even had your life changed by. But today I spoke to Jim Rossignol about his new game, Sir, You Are Being Hunted.>

Perhaps you like hanging out with human people? And you are in travel range of London’s dark heart? Then you should use your legs (and possibly London’s excellent public transport!) to propel yourself to The RPS Social Club. It’s happening here from 6pm. Many friendly RPS readers will be there. They are not like the others.

They are rather spiffing. It doesn’t take a lot for me to get obsessed. I’d managed to pull away from Team Fortress 2, but then Valve introduced the Strange category of weapons, stat-tracking guns and melee weapons that report how many kills each has, and I got into it all over again. I’m almost embarrassed by how easy it was to hook me back into the mainframe. Worryingly Valve have just added a new category of unlocks to augment the Strange weapons counting abilities: Strange Parts.

Only found in crates, Strange Parts will help you study specific aspects of your performance in battle by letting you customize your favorite Strange weapon. Now you’re free to track the number of enemies you gib, projectiles you reflect, heads you’ve shot, and more.

They’ve also dropped three new hats into the game, and that number is a more descriptive than you realise: there are only three in the entire game, and to get one you’ll most likely need to spend a significant amount of money. (more…)

This article is a day late. But you know what? Don’t care. Simply do not care. A fuck: I could not give. That’s punk of me, isn’t it? Please say so, because I need validation for my constant efforts. NO WAIT. I don’t. (more…)

The men of RPS arrive at HQ for a meeting

Edit: added details on the Mount and Musket mod!

Napoleon was most likely of average height rather than being the tiniest man in the world and I’m sure that’s been taken into consideration during the making of this expansion for Mount and Blade: Warband. Weapons, uniforms and even military musicians playing authentic songs of the period are all in place, as the hooves and hacking are somewhat eclipsed by boots and mortars. Taking in the final years of Napoleon’s conquest, it’s a multiplayer only affair, developed by the team behind this mod, that will be out later this spring. I’ve rounded up some documentary footage of the early 19th century below.

Commandeer the tractor at once

Apparently taking some cues from Silent Storm (a good thing), Zeal Game Studio’s Team Assault: Baptism of Fire is a turn-based, skirmish level WWII tactical wargame. With an emphasis on realism, including morale management, and bullets that penetrate cover and have a tendency to kill rather than chip away at health bars, it sounds like exactly the sort of thing I often rudely expect other games to be. Put a point and click adventure in front of me and even if I’m enjoying the plot and humour, I’ll be making mental notes about the lacklustre attention to damage modelling and the over-simplified chain of command. Trailer and more details cowering in the foxhole below.

Restful Pups.Don’t they know there might possibly be a potential for someone somewhere perhaps running a bit low on petrol? Square Enix releasing this trailer during a fuel panic has opened my eyes to the truth: they’ve manufactured the whole scare so we might all understand the sacrifice made at the end of this trailer for the Hong Kong set open world shooter Sleeping Dogs. The bike. The spark. The flames. 30th March, 2012: never forget, people. (more…)

pretty drifty

There used to be a cafe down the road from me called the Automatic Cafe, which transformed into the Automatic Lounge in the evening when drinks began to flow and musicians began to muse. Maybe even later, when the beat took hold and bodies began to shuffle toward a dance floor, it became the Automatic Club. Whether that’s the case or not, Auto Club Revolution aims to be a social hub, being both a cars wot go fast simulation, and a cars wot go fast collection and modification suite. Now in open beta, the community aspect of this particular Revolution seems as important as the actual driving bits. The trailer below has more menus than motoring.

More information about Ubisoft’s frontal attack on the free-to-play realms keeps pouring out. This Ghost Recon Online trailer shows off one of the character classes, revealing a bunch of the hi-tech super-gear that the assault class will have at his disposal. As the player gains experience, so the sophistication of his tools increases, too. The most hilarious of these is a microwave area of effect weapon, which allows you to cook nearby baddies on demand. Yes. (more…)

YES.

I have no way of knowing that for sure, not having played it. But I’ve looked at it. I’ve watched a video of it on the internet, and I’ve pasted it below. If you watch it I’ll think you’ll find yourself agreeing that Neutronized‘s Roar Rampage is indeed the best of all games.
