In Feed Me Oil, an oil pipe has burst, destroying the planet's flora. Players must redirect the oil into terrain and structures that look like creatures.
Using platforms, spinning sprockets, magnets, and fans, players create a Rube Goldberg circuit to redirect the flow of oil.
And feed them oil.
The art style is colorful and cute. The game has shades of World of Goo. There is an emphasis on impressive physics and puzzles as well as style, music, and the game's art.
One neat element is that the game has a question mark that can provide players hints if they get stuck. By taking the hint button, the game will show you where to put your platform or fan or whatever.
One sucky element is that to unlock all the hints, you'll need to pay $.99—the same price of the whole game!
That does encourage players to use their noodles (and not wallets) to clear all available levels, but I guess it's good to know there is a last resort option for those who need it.
The gameplay is interesting, and the puzzles are challenging. Future updates are planned, and Feed Me Oil is definitely worth checking out.

Would This Have Been a Better Duke Nukem Forever? While my review is forthcoming, it's no spoiler that Duke Nukem Forever isn't a Game of the Year contender. Question is, though, what game are we judging?
Is This Girl Real or Virtual? For years, gamers have developed feelings for characters that don't exist in the traditionally tangible world. They might look real, but the characters are a composition of art and reality. They are virtual.
Time Magazine's First Official Game Tie-In is for… Modern Warfare 3 Based on everything we saw at E3, Nintendo's new Wii U console didn't look any more powerful than an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3. Now, though, some developers are apparently saying that's not the case!
Modern Warfare 3 Shoots the Lights Out on Jimmy Fallon As promised, Late Night host Jimmy Fallon has kicked off his video game week with footage of Modern Warfare 3.
Time Magazine's First Official Game Tie-In is for… Modern Warfare 3 Time is one of the most storied magazines the world has ever seen, and while its relevance may have dipped somewhat during the internet era, it's still seen as a respectable publication. So its first ever video game tie-in is a bit of a disappointment.

Halls, maker of mentholated cough drops, is teaming up with dating simulator Love Plus for a product promotion. Love Plus character Nene Anegasaki appears on the packaging, but that's not all.
Digital ads, like these in Osaka Station, show Nene on a swing, trying to put a pink grapefruit Halls in your mouth. There's also one in which Nene appears to be riding in an elevator—it's more macabre than cute.

While my review is forthcoming, it's no spoiler that Duke Nukem Forever isn't a Game of the Year contender. Question is, though, what game are we judging?
Because the one we are playing clearly isn't finished. Leaving us to wonder, what game might we have been left with were 3D Realms able to actually complete their initial vision?
Maybe something like this. This concept art by Feng Zhu, completed for developers 3D Realms around the time of 2003-2004, shows a world far more detailed and easy on the eye than the "finished" product's bland levels, along with some cool designs for human soldiers and alien opponents that you never see in the game.
Some stuff did manage to make it into the final game, however, including Zhu's take on the "Impregnator", one of the finished game's more questionable inclusions. Note that one of the pieces of art in the gallery above shows the beast at work, and as such, isn't very suitable for work.

Despite its appearance, this is not 3D Dot Game Heroes for the PC. But it's something similar.
This upcoming indie PC title is called Cube World, and is described as a "3D Voxel-Based game with a focus on exploration an RPG elements". The entire world is procedurally-generated each time, and that goes for both the landscape and the buildings.
The clip above shows the game's multiplayer mode, which is still in its very early stages.
Yet another PC game inspired by Minecraft and its green, blocky terrain, then, but let's be kind on this one. Nobody ever says that about 3D Dot Game Heroes, and that seems to be the chief inspiration here.

Game designer Fumito Ueda has tweeted a nixed ending that never made it to The Shadow of the Colossus. This is it!
Ueda storyboards his games by hand. Shame he didn't post the image at a larger resolution—not simply because I want to see how different this ending it, but rather, I'd like to look at his art.
An HD version of the game will be released this fall on the PlayStation 3.

Website Cracked ran the same joke last year, but this year, it's even funnier. Or, depending on your point of view, sadder.
Is it wrong to predict that there'll be at least one major award this year for "best iron sights"? And that it won't be a joke award?
