Locked in a research laboratory at the bottom of the sea, an alien lifeform breaks from its captivity and mounts an escape. That's the premise of Perfect Cell by Mobigame, our iGame of the Day.
Thinking on it, I might be mistaken in calling this a puzzler in that video. It's a platformer, for sure, except for maybe for the fact you float through it. Parts of Perfect Cell struck me as Portal-esque but that was mostly in tone and not gameplay. Either way, when you get a handle on the controls it's a very playable challenge, and is another game that speaks well of Mobigame's attention to detail and presentational quality.
Perfect Cell is available now on the iTunes App Store, and is $4.99. You may buy it for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
Two notable absences from Sony's CES 2011 keynote were the long-rumored PlayStation Phone and PSP2. In the question and answer session following the conference, Sony's head of home electronics Mike Abary gives fans the old no comment.
Abary was fielding questions that poured in from Twitter, Facebook, and the UStream TV chat room that hosted the live broadcast of tonight's event. A vast majority of the questions revolved around the rumored PlayStation Phone and PSP2. We were hoping CES would shed a little light on these new products. Apparently we'll be waiting a little longer.
And dammit, I was 100 percent sure Mike Abary was the next Kato.
Fable Coin Golf was the oddest of the games Microsoft showed in Las Vegas today, all slated to come to the Windows Phone 7 ... (you know, Microsoft's answer to the iPhone.) Check out the reel of upcoming games.
Some neat stuff there.
The only other thing we know about Fable Coin Golf is that the gold you earn in it can be used in Fable III.
The Microsoft highlight reel also showed Game Room, the Xbox 360 and Windows virtual arcade, running on the phone. Microsoft chief Steve Ballmer, who intro'd the reel of games, didn't explain what Game Room is doing there or how it'll work. On the 360 and PC, it has allowed gamers to download emulated arcade games and set them up in a virtual arcade, using Xbox Live to challenge people for high scores.

We've been wondering what Avatar Kinect is. Now we know. It's a way to use Microsoft's Xbox 360 Kinect sensor to slip us into a Matrix of avatars hanging out together in the virtual world.
They showed it in Vegas today.
Remember, the Kinect is a hands-free system and it's already been able to make avatars of gamers move on the TV in sync with movements of gamers in their living room. This Avatar Kinect tracks more and connects people via their avatars. Hence that Avatar Kinect name, of course!
During the CES 2011 keynote out in Las Vegas, Microsoft boss Steve Ballmer showed a short highlight reel that seems to promise the following:
-The Kinect sensor will not just map body movements, but facial expressions, mouth movement and eyebrow-raising
-It will then let our Avatars hang out together in virtual rooms, while we're connected over Xbox Live
-We'll be able to record videos of our connected Avatars and put them on Facebook
-We'll be able to hang out in various "sets"
It's essentially a fancy new kind of chat room with avatars puppeteered by people's gestures via the Kinect. Ballmer said it will be free for all Xbox Live Gold members (translation: paying Xbox Live users) this spring.

At CES today, Microsoft said that people with the Kinect sensor hooked up to their Xbox will be able to use the controller-free device to control Netflix and Hulu starting this spring. Meaning: choosing/playing movies and TV with a wave of the hand. No remote.
What has Microsoft brought to Las Vegas for the Xbox 360? What else will they show besides video games? The answers await inside Microsoft's CES 2011 keynote.

There's no glasses free 3D PSP coming yet, but Sony just showed that they will be making camcorders and cameras that show 3D images without the need for glasses.
Sony's not shunning glasses-free 3D, which Nintendo is bringing to us for gaming this winter.
At CES 2010 out in Vegas, Sony just showed a 3D camcorder, a $1500 handycam shown here will shoot in 3D and show 3D without the need for glasses on its digital viewfinder. The screen on the company''s new 3D Blggie cameras will also show 3D images without the need for glasses.
Sony has not yet committed to bringing 3D, glasses free or otherwise to its PlayStation Portable line, though Nintendo is doing glasses-free 3D on its 3DS, which comes out in the U.S. in March. Sony, of course, has been pushing glasses-based 3D for gaming on the PlayStation 3 for much of the past year.
So no glasses-free 3D gaming from Sony, not yet.

Sony kicked off its 2011 CES keynote with some spectacular fight scene footage from The Green Hornet. If we don't get to play Kato in a video game, something is terribly wrong with the world.
As an added bonus, here's Sony's Sir Howard Stringer and the stars of the movie, plugging the movie.
