  • Fixed a crash that could occur after the bomb exploded.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when attempting to exit the game.
  • Changed default values of the following server variables to reflect the increase of the default tick rate from 33 to 66:
    • sv_mincmdrate - 10
    • sv_maxcmdrate - 66
    • sv_maxupdaterate - 66
  • Marked ‘developer’ cvar as cheat.
  • Corrected kill/death reporting in gun games. Deaths were not being properly counted in games using instant respawn.
  • Marked test_round_winpanel, test_match_winpanel, test_freezepanel commands as cheats.
  • Added sv_nowinpanel and cl_nowinpanel options that can be used to disable the win panel that displays the team winner, MVP, and fun fact at the end of a round.
  • Clamped ladder dampen values.
  • Fixed jointeam cvar so giving it invalid values no longer spams the server console.
  • Removed functionality of cl_minmodels.
  • Fixed voice indicators to display at all times rather than just after their respective players have come into contact when -alltalk is on.
  • Fixed scoreboard to display correct number of SourceTV viewers.
  • Adjusted death notices to display under scoreboard.
  • Defaulted ‘Simplified list’ to OFF and made the setting persistent.
  • Fixed an issue that could make it appear as if a player already had one or more MVP stars upon joining a server.
  • Made text on loading bar more legible.
  • Added more materials that were missing for community maps.

Engine
  • Fixed disconnect exploit causing players to be forced off of a server due to an overflowed packet.
  • Fixed players being able to start the game using a DirectX level less than DirectX8.

Windows Dedicated Server
  • Added Counter-Strike: Source to the list of games for the dedicated server when running through the Steam client.

An update on the Update
The reason for the recent update was to move Counter-Strike Source (CSS) from the older HL2 version of the Source engine to the most recent version. This brings the CSS codebase in-line with our other games. This resolves long standing issues associated with the older engine and allows us to benefit from features and bug fixes in other source games as they come online, such as improved graphic effects and more accurate hit registration.

During this process we created some unintended side effects, these are bugs. We are actively investigating all reports.

A good example of this is bullet penetration changing on Linux Servers only; not Windows Servers. This was a subtle bug to track down and understand. It has been fixed.

Rest assured we will continue to fix old and new CSS bugs. We want to retain the CSS gameplay experience that you know and love. We would also like to thank everyone reporting bugs and posting constructive feedback. This is an invaluable part of the process.

    Mordsweiler:

    Four rivals compete to reign supreme in Mordsweiler, a wide valley high up in the mountains of Tandria. It may be beneficial to choose your strategy wisely depending on your starting position. There are two marketplaces allowing trade with the world behind the high mountains, one located at the western border, the other at the eastern border. To the north is a cavernous labyrinth of cliffs, a defended sector which offers a victory point when conquered. If you are looking for help in overcoming your competitors, search for the Pilgrimage Site in the north, the Enchanted Tower in the southeast or the Dark Fortress in the southwest.

    Nienroth:

    The Realm of Nienroth is divided by a broad river. Two rulers have set up camp on opposing sides of the river. By the riverside, you'll find another town sector - already fortified by palisades - which offers a victory point when conquered. Long bridges grant access to a huge river port located nearby. Two special places are also worth a visit; the Royal Observatory in the northwestern mountains and the Ancient Library near the meandering river in the south. Choose your tactics wisely depending on your starting position, as it may favor a certain strategy.

Updates to Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted.

- Added server-side lag compensation for bulleted and close range weapons when hitting other players. This makes those weapons hit where you aim, even at high pings (in versus modes).
- Automatic matchmaking system. It tries to find a server with a good ping and with some players already in - if possible.
- Deathmatch mode is forced to the front of game mode list, so users always select it by default when choosing versus modes (if they just continue pressing OK when joining).
- Fixed several exploits on Bear City.
- Fixed cases where Palenque Demo couldn't be completed in some game modes (most notably when using warmup).
- Fixed cases where Land of Damned could not be finished on tourist/easy difficulty in coop modes.
- Several optimizations in network bandwidth used by projectiles. Fights with a lot of flying projectiles should now be more responsive.
- Several improvements regarding tighter packing of data in network messages.
- Sometimes, under conditions of packet loss, some enemies would not get deleted but would stand as zombies around or their corpses would never get deleted.
- More optimized bandwidth use for voice chat.
- Fixed regression in standard menu font size. The font is now smaller, as it was before.
- Some improvements in support for multimonitor setups.
- Added workaround for wrong version report from ATI driver.
- Driver version detection is now controlled by an external .lua script, which can be easily updated when drivers change.
- Steam.dll was missing from the dedserver installation, causing it to report warnings on the stdout.
- Fixed "Secret.santa" typo.
- In some rare cases, unreliable RPC compacting could randomly drop some other message from the message queue.
