Marvel's Avengers - The Definitive Edition - Leyla K
During Square Enix Presents on March 18, we showed a roadmap of what’s to come in the next few months for Marvel’s Avengers along with the official reveal of the King of Wakanda! Our community has been asking for this for quite some time, and now, after some lessons learned and overall improvements and stability, we’re excited to share more information. Although we’re presenting this roadmap now, it does not include everything we’re currently working on, but does provide a good idea of what’s to come!

Our focus moving forward is to deliver new content that is compelling to play and replay again while offering better rewards. We are expanding upon what the Avengers Initiative currently has to offer to provide more choices for players when they hop in game and have completed all the Operations. We do want to mention that this roadmap could potentially change depending on the ever-changing world of game development, but we also feel confident about what we have presented here and hope it also excites you.

As we get closer to each element of the roadmap, we’ll provide more detailed information, but for now, we’d like to touch briefly on each section:

Tachyon Anomaly
During this event, Tachyon Rift Missions will appear more often, and will be scaled for Power Levels 1-100 so more players can experience them and have event-specific rewards.

Since launch, we have heard players ask if more than one of the same Hero can be present in a Strike Team. We’re happy to announce that during the Temporal Assault event, you'll be able to play multiple of the same hero in the Avengers Initiative. If you’ve always wanted to see what a team of four Hulks is like, this event is for you!

Red Room Takeover
Enter the Red Room Takeover with new unique HARM Room content and outfits.

Cosmic Cube
It’s Monica’s time to shine in her very own Villain Sector as the Scientist Supreme, featuring a brand new battle where players must confront the unchecked power of the Cosmic Cube.

Wasteland Patrol
A new Patrol Mode mission type that allows you to explore the largest War Zone area to date, complete quests, and earn rewards without the constraints of a mission. You can explore these areas as long as you want and complete Assignments at your leisure!

War for Wakanda
Black Panther is coming in 2021 along with more Villains like Klaw, a new enemy Faction, the Wakandan Jungle Biome, a new Outpost, a Power Level cap increase, and much more. This will be the biggest content drop since launch. We can’t wait to show you everything that is coming with Wakanda.

Ongoing Improvements
We’re always working on tuning combat, gear, and matchmaking as you’ll continue to see in our upcoming patches, including the ability to use the directional pad in menus.

Additional Content and Features
Omega-Level Threat missions have been the most significant development challenge since we launched the game. The feature works, we have our devs and QA teams playing every day, but we’re still tracking down bugs that we need to resolve. We want to make sure we’re confident that the quality is rock solid.

We’re also working on post-level-50 progression, outfits inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and multiplayer Megahives. We can’t wait to show you more!

Our team is committed to improving Marvel’s Avengers, beginning with these upcoming additions to the game. This is only the start of our future plans and, as stated previously, not everything we’re working on. We’ll be sharing more details over these coming months, so keep an eye out on our official channels. We hope this roadmap offers you a bit more knowledge into what we’re focusing on as we continue development day in and day out in order to make Marvel’s Avengers the game we know it can be. Thank you for your continued patience, your support, your feedback, and your unbridled passion!
Marvel's Avengers - The Definitive Edition - Leyla K
March 18 is a big day for us with new content, features, and updates. We wanted to take this time to go over what you can expect, as well as offer more details on some of the previously announced features. Let’s get right to it!

New Hero: Hawkeye
One of the most iconic archers is here! We first met Clint Barton as Hawkeye in Kate Bishop’s Operation, Taking AIM, where she brought him back from the brink of a huge AIM conspiracy involving the manipulation of time itself. As Kate Bishop’s mentor and close friend, Clint and Kate have similarities in their skillset due to being mentor and protégé, but nevertheless, they are two different fighters, each with their own style. You must unlock Hawkeye in the Future Imperfect Operation in order to play him in the Avengers Initiative. Hawkeye is available at no additional cost!

Operation Future Imperfect
Hawkeye’s story takes us to a possible future where all hope is lost. With the help of the rest of the Avengers - and his canine pal, Lucky - Clint must discover the exact whereabouts of Nick Fury and prevent the incoming Kree invasion. Traverse the new Wastelands environment, fight against Maestro – a twisted Hulk with Banner’s intelligence – and pet Lucky aboard the helicarrier in Operation Future Imperfect.

You do not need to have completed the Reassemble Campaign or the Taking AIM Operation in order to begin Future Imperfect, but we highly suggest you do as important plot points are introduced in the former stories as we build a continued narrative all the way from Kamala’s origins in Jersey City to where Future Imperfect will take us and beyond. You can start Future Imperfect by selecting it from the Main Menu screen or the Operation Picker in Avengers Initiative.

Next-Gen Upgrade
Players who own the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version of the game will be able to upgrade to the full next-gen version at no additional cost. Featuring updated visuals, improved destruction and Heroic detail, significantly faster load times, cross-generational play and more.

Players who want to upgrade their digital copies must go to their respective platform’s digital store and select the free upgrade to start the download. Players with the physical copy must have the next-gen console with a disc drive and will insert the disc as part of the upgrade. An upgrade from a physical copy to a digital-only next-gen console is not available. If you want to transfer over your save data from one generation to the next, use the respective cloud system or a USB stick to play right where you left off.

If you or a friend don’t already have Marvel’s Avengers on either PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, it is available for purchase right now along with physical copies of the game on March 18!

Campaign Replay
This long-awaited feature is finally here. The Campaign Replay allows you to replay the entire Reassemble Campaign from the beginning. While your data tracking campaign progress will be reverted, you will not lose any player progression like XP, character progress, and collectibles obtained up until this point. In the Operations Picker, go to the Reassemble Campaign, and select Reset Campaign Progress to start from the very beginning at A-Day. We can’t wait to see what Photo Mode shots come out of your replays!

Customizable HARM Rooms
Many members of the Community have expressed the desire to tailor the HARM room for a personal Super Hero training experience, so we have now introduced customizable HARM Rooms with this patch! Accessible via the War Table, players can tailor their HARM Room experience for their needs. After a short tutorial, hop in and see what havoc you can unleash. Available on all platforms!

New Enemy: Cargo Runner Synthoid
Appearing in various places, the Cargo Runner Synthoid is a new enemy who carries items and will try to run away from any sign of danger. If you manage to chase it down and destroy it, it’ll drop its cargo, which contains resources – and perhaps more. Keep your eyes open for these new types of enemies.

New Currency Options
We’ll be introducing two new currency options to provide more choices for players who want to purchase Credits.
Incredible Credits Package - $9.99 – 1050 Credits
Magnificent Credits Package - $29.99 - 3450 Credits

Free Outfit for Ms. Marvel
New with this patch is a free item you can grab from the Marketplace for a limited time before 3/24! Stretch those arms and get Ms. Marvel’s Night Galaxy Outfit before it disappears into the stars. Tell your friends and Strike Team members!

We’ll be posting the patch notes for patch 1.5.0 tomorrow morning for a list of fixes and improvements also coming on March 18. We’re constantly working on more content as we have multiple teams working on different things and are committed to bringing it all to you when it’s ready. Until then, we’re excited for everyone to hop in game this week!

Hello, everyone! We’re the Crystal Dynamics team and we’d like to introduce you to a representative for the Chinese community here on Steam: SStarlight_Man. They will be speaking to you and collecting your feedback in order to make sure your voices are heard as our game adds new content and improves over time. Marvel's Avengers - The Definitive Edition - Leyla K
Hello True Believers! We’re excited to introduce to you two exciting and highly-requested new features coming to Marvel’s Avengers on March 18: Reassemble Campaign Replay and Customizable HARM Rooms!

Reassemble Campaign Replay
Ever since each of you experienced the Reassemble Campaign at launch, we’ve heard you asking to be able to replay that journey again. We were humbled by the love and support for Kamala and for our original Avengers story. Since then, we’ve been hard at work to make it happen. We’re thrilled to finally roll out Campaign Replay!

The Campaign Replay allows you to replay the entire Reassemble Campaign from the beginning. It works by resetting your campaign progress to the start of the story, meaning that you will have to play the campaign over from the first mission. While your data tracking campaign progress will be reverted, you will not lose any player progression like XP, character progress, and collectibles obtained up until this point.

Replaying the Reassemble Campaign is simple: when available, the “Reset Campaign Progress” option will appear in the Operation Picker button legend bar for the Reassemble Campaign, next to the “Continue” option. When selected, a warning notification will show up onscreen clarifying what will and won’t be reset, and ask for your confirmation. When you’re ready, hit “Continue” to move forward with the reset and enjoy replaying the Reassemble storyline again! You can reset your campaign progress as many times as you like.

Keep in mind that the Campaign Reset button will only be available on the operation picker once you've progressed past the opening cinematic and into A-Day gameplay in the Reassemble Campaign. Once Kamala has disembarked from the Quinjet, the Campaign Reset option will be available upon returning to the main menu from this point forward. You will need to reach this availability threshold each time you reset the campaign.

HARM Room (Custom)
Many members of the Community have expressed the desire to tailor the HARM room for a personal Super Hero training experience. We’re happy to announce that customizable HARM rooms are on the way!

The HARM Room (Custom) is accessible via the War Table. After a tutorial that will guide you through the process on your first entry into the HARM Room (Custom), you can use the console to customize your combat experience with modifiers like enemy types, enemy numbers, different environmental hazards like fire and electricity, difficulty, and buffs!

Want to see how you fare alone with no buffs against a gigantic horde of brutal-difficulty Adaptoids as hellfire billows around you? There’s a HARM room for that. Feel more like equipping every buff possible and smashing droves of puny Synthoids beneath you? There’s a HARM room for that too. These customizable HARM Rooms are a great resource to test the limits and discover the strengths and weaknesses of your Hero builds, as well as a great place to just have fun!

We look forward to seeing the community enjoy the Reassemble Campaign once more, as well as what kinds of HARM rooms you cook up! Both of these new features will come on March 18 along with Hawkeye and his Future Imperfect Operation. We couldn’t have done this without your support and encouraging feedback. Keep it coming! Thank you for being with us to shape the future of Marvel’s Avengers!
Marvel's Avengers - The Definitive Edition - CD_StrumSlinger

Welcome back, True Believers! With 2020 behind us, we’re excited to kick off the new year with our newest post-launch hero, Clint Barton as Hawkeye and his own Operation: Future Imperfect! We know how many members of our community are looking forward to Hawkeye and have heard their calls ever since our initial reveal at E3 2019. Now, we can finally answer where Hawkeye has been!

We first met Clint in Kate Bishop’s Operation, Taking AIM, where she brought him back from the brink of a huge AIM conspiracy involving the manipulation of time itself. Operation Hawkeye: Future Imperfect marks Chapter 2 of Season One, where we continue diving into the consequences of the Tachyon Project and come face-to-face with a possible future where all hope is lost.

As Kate Bishop’s mentor and close friend, Clint and Kate have similarities in their skillset due to being mentor and protégé, but nevertheless, they are two different fighters, each with their own style. Whereas Kate blinks around the battlefield as a blur of never-ending strikes to multiple foes, Clint is the steadfast hunter, taking down his foes with powerful, precise hits one at a time until he’s the only one left standing. Clint’s bow skills are second to none in the Marvel universe, and with intrinsics that boost his single-target attack potential and an arsenal of many different arrow types at his disposal, he’s a one-man-army to be reckoned with. We also took inspiration from his Ronin period to create his sword abilities, which makes him a powerful melee and ranged hero.

Clint’s Heroics are themselves three different arrow types. His Assault Heroic uses Nightstorm Arrow: launch it into the air and rain down projectiles to decimate areas of the battlefield. Just as important, his Recovery Arrow Support Heroic unleashes nanobots that swarm nearby allies and restore their willpower. The Hunter’s Arrow Ultimate Heroic is an AI guided projectile that flits across the battlefield, piercing through targets. Once upgraded, fire two at once, add explosive charges, or focus damage on player-targeted foes. Count on Hunter's Arrow to dish out an aerial assault with damage equal to a fleet of arrows, punishing enemies all over the fight no matter who Clint has in his sights.

Clint shoots into Marvel’s Avengers on March 18. Share with us your awesome fan content—we love seeing the incredible shots from our super talented video game photography community, your different powerful builds, your exciting reaction videos, and, as always, your consistent feedback! We look forward to seeing you there!

Marvel's Avengers - The Definitive Edition - CrystalRinny
Our first post-launch Super Hero, Kate Bishop, is on her way with her bow, arrows, and a stylish sword in her arsenal. Our Marvel’s Avengers WAR TABLE Deep Dive covered Kate’s kit and gave an overview of her role in the continued narrative. If you missed it, you can watch it below!

Today, we’re talking about the specifics of getting into the new Operation, how the introduction of Kate affects the Avengers Initiative, and expanding on combat with tips & tricks to master her unique style.

When you first boot up the game after the Kate patch is installed, you’ll be greeted with a bright purple window on the left of the starting screen that will start Kate’s Operation. If you miss this, don’t fret! You can always start the Operation in the Avengers Initiative as well.

You don’t need to have completed the Reassemble Campaign to begin Operation: Taking AIM, but we highly suggest you do as Kate’s story takes place after Kamala’s and assumes you know what happened.

The Setup

Taking AIM is a new story with a new Super Hero that takes place in the existing world of Marvel’s Avengers. Kate Bishop - who first appeared in Young Avengers #1 – is a master archer and skilled gymnast. Missing since A-Day, she resurfaces after her investigation into Nick Fury’s disappearance results in her mentor Clint Barton (aka Hawkeye) going missing as well. As she unravels the mystery behind the sudden appearance of time-warping Tachyon Rifts, she uncovers a twisted new plan from AIM, which pushes her to work with the Avengers once again.

The first Mission takes place in SHIELD Substation Zero by talking to Maria Hill. You won’t start off playing as Kate since there’s some narrative to unravel first, but rest assured you’ll shortly recruit her into the Operation.

Every Mission in Operation: Taking AIM can be played multiplayer with any character in your roster. If you choose to play through a mission as one of the core six Heroes, Kate will join you as an AI companion.

As we’ve talked about before, Operation: Taking AIM is just the first part of the Hawkeye “double feature” that will conclude with Clint Barton’s Operation Hawkeye - Future Imperfect early next year. We’re super grateful for the excitement surrounding the Future Imperfect sneak peek, have been watching your reaction videos and can’t wait to share more details with you!

But back to Kate!

Kate is a trained and dedicated warrior, always aware of her body and the environment around her. She’s constantly scoping a room or location for possible routes of entrance or exit. Kate is most comfortable when using her bow and over time it’s become a natural extension of her body. She prefers ranged combat and is deft at quickly moving to a firing distance when need be. However, if engaged in close combat, she has been trained in multiple forms of martial arts. Her goal in close combat is always to incapacitate as quickly as possible and then move back to ranged combat.

Here’s a look at some of Kate’s unique combat skills.

Kate’s Kit:

  • Tranquilizer Arrow: Quickly switch to the bow and fire an arrow that applies the Snared debuff. While affected by the debuff, enemies have reduced impact resistance, making them easier to interrupt.
  • Demolition Blast Arrow: Enabled after any Signature or Power Attack, fire an arrow that attaches to surfaces with a time delayed, proximity explosive that launches targets into the air when detonated.
  • Warp Arrow: Fire an arrow that teleports the wielder on impact. Teleporting to the arrow creates a quantum explosion that deals damage to all nearby enemies, launching them into the air. The teleport effect can also be triggered while the arrow is in flight.
  • Blade Dancer’s Strike: A melee combo move that breaks through enemy defenses, slamming them into the ground and leaving them vulnerable to additional attacks.
  • Blink: Teleport towards nearby ledges or poles. Teleporting to a pole will trigger a swing, while teleporting to ledges will trigger a quick vault over or onto nearby ledges.
  • Smoke Screen Arrow: Perform an evasive bow attack, firing an arrow that creates a cloud of smoke and inflicts additional Stun damage to enemies inside the smoke
  • Decoy: Throw a miniature hologram projector that displays a hologram of the wielder, distracting enemies from attacking actual Heroes. Through an infusion of quantum energy, the projector can create actual Quantum Arrows that it shoots at nearby targets, providing additional offensive support.

Challenge Card

In addition to all these exciting new skills, Kate also comes with a fresh Hero Challenge Card. Hero Challenge Cards allow players to earn Resources, Units, Credits, and Cosmetics for completing in-game challenges

Each Hero Challenge Card has a free and unlockable premium track with 40 Tiers of rewards. Rewards are earned via Challenge Points by completing daily and weekly challenges. Kate’s premium hero card track can be unlocked at a cost of 1,000 credits – which many of you have already earned through completing the free cards of the six starting Heroes!

Tips & Tricks

Before we wrap up, check out some tips & tricks from our dev team to ensure you’ve got the edge as Kate.
  • Intrinsic Energy Management: Kate's short-range teleportation uses up Intrinsic Energy, which means she can only use it a finite amount of times. Make sure you don’t use it all up before diving into a horde of enemies or you’ll have trouble parrying or teleporting away.
  • Close Combat: If enemies get up close to Kate, don’t feel pressured to switch to her sword. Using Scatter Show Arrows up close deals a significant amount of damage! Scatter Shot Arrows are also excellent for applying status effects to large groups of enemies.
  • Breaking Shields: Bomb arrows work well against enemies with shields – give it a try!
  • Airborne: Launch enemies into the air with the heavy combo or Demolition Charge Arrows, then juggle them with the Razor Arrows or Quantum Blitz and Strike skills.
  • Extra Damage: Parrying with Quantum Shift and following up with Quantum Arc is a good way to setup enemies for additional combat damage.
  • Critical Damage: The Disruptor Arrow and Perfect Draw are two key skills in maximizing critical damage.
  • Taking/Making Space: Blink Dash is an excellent way to close the distance to a target for melee attacks, or to create some space to take aim and attack with arrows.
  • Quick Ground Coverage: In addition to being an amazing combat tool, Warp arrow has great utility. You can use it to reposition, cover ground fast or get yourself out of harm's way.

We can’t wait for you to get your hands on Marvel’s Avengers: Kate Bishop – Taking AIM. Be sure to tag us in your Kate screenshots, Kate combos, and any other Kate content really!

For New or Returning Players

Almost three months have passed since Marvel’s Avengers launched on September 4. Along the way, our amazing community has provided feedback that has had a direct impact on the game, including the highlights below:
  • Captain America can smash doors with his shield throw to access locked areas
  • All Super Heroes can now sprint in bases such as the Helicarrier, Ant Hill, and SHIELD Substation Zero
  • All Faction Missions can be obtained in any base – previously players had to go to each base to accept their respective missions
  • Option to scale subtitle and closed captions size
  • Closed captions will no longer be automatically displayed in cinematics
  • Ability to preview Cosmetic Vendor items
  • Captain America’s shield run now damages enemies
  • Tuned enemy ranged attacks

Finally, we have upcoming features and new content coming that will both give everyone more to play and allow for an improved experience such as:
  • The ability to replay Reassemble Campaign (currently in testing)
  • A Ping System for smoother multiplayer communication (currently in testing)
  • AIM Cloning Lab – An Omega-Level Threat that will require a team of four high-Power Level characters to complete
  • Marvel’s Avengers: Kate Bishop – Taking AIM – An operation coming on December 8 that introduces a new playable Super Hero Kate Bishop and continues the story from where the Reassemble Campaign left off

Please keep the feedback coming! There is so much more we have planned for Marvel’s Avengers, including more fixes and quality of life improvements, and of course, new content, new Super Heroes, and new stories to tell. Thank you for all the support you’ve shown us during these trying times. We greatly appreciate it. See you on the Helicarrier!

MEGA HIVE

The Mega Hive is a single-player chain of eight missions that tests your team’s might. Each week, you’ll have a shot at completing the Mega Hive mission chain. When you defeat all eight missions, the Mega Hive mission chain is removed from the War Table until the next weekly refresh, when you can run it again with new modifiers.

This week’s modifiers include:
  • Famine: Enemies do not drop Regen Packs when defeated.
  • Clash: Melee damage from any source is greatly increased.
  • Heavyweight: Enemy stun meters build at an increased rate.
  • Bane: Significantly increased presence of Adaptoids.

Weekly Rewards: As you progress through the Mega Hive, rewards start as basic gear, resources, and small amounts of cosmetic currency. The more missions you survive, the resource drops increase. As you near the final mission, you’ll see better gear and artifacts awarded more often, and increased chances for patterns/nameplates. When you complete all eight Mega Hive missions, you’ll be rewarded with exclusive goodies reserved for this gauntlet, including a significant amount of high-quality resources.

Modifiers are game changers! Check out some pro-tips from our team that will help you prepare for this week’s challenges!
  • Blizzard: Equip any gear that provides Cryo resistance and pay careful attention to Cryo hazards in the environment whenever Blizzard is the modifier in play. Cryo enemies are also especially lethal so make sure to prioritize taking them out first to ensure you won’t be frozen mid fight.
  • Clash: When Clash is active, make sure to play a Hero who has strong melee abilities and equip gear high in the Might attribute. Don’t forget, enemies also inflict greater melee damage so watch out for combatants who try to get in close!
  • Fireball: Equip any gear that provides additional Plasma damage or increases the rate at which the Plasma status meter builds to really heat things up when Fireball is active.
  • Famine: Focusing on Takedowns and careful usage of the regenerative nanite containers are key to survivability when Famine is active.

This week’s Marketplace spread features plenty of choices for Ms. Marvel and Captain America! You can catch new items like Ms. Marvel’s Legendary “Future Suit” and Captain’s Epic “Battlefield Warrior” among others.

The Marketplace is a place for us to feature purchasable cosmetics in the form of Outfits, Emotes, Takedowns, and Nameplates. The Marketplace’s Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary items rotate weekly, and can be purchased with Credits.

Check out our patch notes for V1.3.5 here. Patch V1.3.6 is already in the works!
