Cell to Singularity - Evolution Never Ends - lunch
There are reports of save file being erased after the recent Steam Client update (Monday Dec 21st 11AM). It seems to be mostly happening to MAC players.
UPDATE 22/20 1pm: It appears Steam Cloud saves are having issue on Mac. A number of other games are experiencing the same issue. Please contact us if you have been affected lunch@computerlunch.com
UPDATE 26/20: It looks like many Mac players have been effected by this issue. We are working to create replacement saves for any player that lost progress. Please to not hesitate to contact us at lunch@computerlunch.com so that we can help restore your progress.
If this has happened to your save progress here are two options.
A. Use a backup save from the save folder
Try this first.
There should be a local backup of the save data in: [user]/Library/Application Support/com.computerlunchllc.cells
Make sure the game's closed, then copy all the contents from that folder into: [user]/Library/Application Support/Computer Lunch/Cell to Singularity
Overwrite any existing files. Restart the game and you should see your data restored.
If you do not see the "com.computerlunchllc.cells" folder check if you have restore files in the main save file folder [user]/Library/Application Support/Computer Lunch/Cell to Singularity.
Cells creates back up of your save file as you play. Hopefully you can use that to get you progress back. Here is where to find the back up save file and how to replace it.
1. Make sure the game is closed. NOTE: Before you start it might be a good idea to make a duplicate copy of the save folder in case you make a mistake.
2. Navigate to the save folder.
On Mac it should be: User > [Your user] /Library [hidden]/Application Support/Computer Lunch/Cell to Singularity/savedGames.gd
You should see six files: savedGames.gd savedGames2.gd savedGamesDeepBackup.gd savedGames.gd.restore savedGames2.gd.restore savedGamesDeepBackup.gd.restore
3. Move any files that don't end with ".restore" out of the save folder
4. Remove ".restore" from the remaining file's names. You should now have the following files remaining in the folder: savedGames.gd savedGames2.gd savedGamesDeepBackup.gd
5. Restart the game
B. Contact Cells Support
We will help create you a new save that is close to where your progress left off. Send us a email at lunch@computerlunch.com , let us know that you are playing on steam and you save file was erased.
If you have more details or have questions please leave them in the comments.

Hello Universe Architects,
The time has come for an optimization update!
We have been fleshing out important improvements since the release of The Mammal Kingdom expansion. These new features have been added to create better visuals and gameplay for your simulations.
Let's take a look...
A Picture is Worth 1,000 Words
Get the perfect shot with our new camera features! Freeze your subject as soon as you take a snapshot, and change the angle using vertical and horizontal sliders (just in time for our photo contest)!
More MetaBits!
Worry no more! MetaBit production has been increased for most Reality Engine upgrades. Now the overall maximum speed increase has been bumped up from 1650 to 2105!
Time to Branch Out
We've rearranged the structure of the tree! Now Eutherians are well aligned in the tree of evolution, alongside Apes, Mammals, Tetrapods, and multiple nodes.
New Nodes to Unlock!
Enjoy discovering new traits on the main tree! From the Medulla Oblongata trait to the Puma 3D trophy, these nodes feature interesting and surprising facts!
Additional Features:
- Mesozoic Valley ranks now give a higher speed boost to the main simulation (2% >>> 10%). - Controller support has been improved, now allowing for directional hopping between special nodes (such as the Mesozoic Valley skull and the Idea brain). - Numbers in Simplified Chinese have been localized. - 3D parrot model has been updated on the main tree. - Updated boost graphics and MetaBit icon. - FIXED: Amount of MetaBits earned is now correct and matches number of mined MetaBits on stat page.
-----
With these added improvements, the Cells team will be on winter break for the rest of the year. We hope you enjoy this new update into 2021!
Stay safe, stay cellular, and happy holidays. ~Lunch

Dear Cellular Cadets,
Your elite beta testing abilities are requested.
We have herd reports of metabit production decreasing, the metabits must flow. This beta patch increases the overall speed of the simulation when unlocking Reality Engine nodes. Make sure to also check out the advance improvements in photomode.
Add any feedback in the comments. We are hoping to release this update sometime early next week.
What to look out for while testing
- Increase metabit production for Reality Engine upgrades. Increase over all speed increase maximum. 1650 >>> 2475 - Each Mesozoic Valley Rank give a more speed increase to main simulation. 2% >>> 5% - Fixed bug where on entering the game metabits would be increase by the of earned metabits that simulation round. - Puma/Mountain lion is now a trophy animal on the tree. - 2 New evolution traits for the Brain track and reproduction track ( Medulla oblongata , Menstruation ) - Advance photo mode features. You can freeze frame the world after a photo is taken. Then adjust the horizontal and vertical panning to get the perfect shot. Just in time for the photo contest. - Controller support much improved. Tree navigation allows for directional hopping to nodes on the tree. You can navigate special nodes on the tree such as Mesozoic Valley of the floating Brain. Tools has more options for controller navigation. - Simplify Chinese number have been localized. Including both Big Chinese number and time scales. - Reconfigured tree layout between Tetrapod and Ape. With the Mammal Kingdom update this section needs more polish to smooth the game play. We are still working on the layout and upgrade progress on this part of the tree. - Parrot on the tree replaced with the new Parrot model.

Semblance Log: After many months of work, the simulation has progressed to new levels of advancement. But it appears that a reboot of the Realty Engine system has exposed anomalies: unusual "glitches" have appeared in an unexplored section of the tree. Perhaps we can use the "MetaBits" that upgrade the simulation to fix them. I anticipate that this mystery may hold the key to a whole new branch of evolution...
