Getting to work to General Practitioner is always lovely, and also a little strange. This is the first game I made with Ren'Py and there are lots of things I am not doing nowadays, either because I learned how to use the engine properly, and also because I found more efficient ways to do things.

Also, the different resolution of the images and the way they are managed are often misleading when I have to put them on-screen, and that makes everything more difficult than writing scenes for Yomi Alliance or The Devil's Shoes.

Now, getting back into business, I want to introduce you to some new stuff introduced by patch 1.9, a pre-patch for the upcoming DLC "Emergency Procedures", with an introduction to its story and medical stuff.

• Meet Jessica Wilson in a brand-new, different medical exam which will feature a lot of conversation choices and consequences upon your fame, money and what will happen in the Emergency Procedures DLC as well
  
  
  
  
  
  
• Meet Bryan Calhoun, Dr. Benedetta Borelli's former boyfriend and head of St. Francis Emergency Services. Provided you hired Dr. Borelli into your staff, this medical examination will pave the way to the Doctor's involvement into the events of "Emergency Procedures" DLC, with direct consequences on its story.
  
  
  
  
  
  Your relationship with Dr. Borelli will also change according to the choices you'll make with Bryan.
  
  Both Jessica and Bryan's exams will be conducted by conversation choices only, the user interface which you're used to in other medical exams will not be available. This is a story examination, hence it won't be available in Exam Mode but it will be available in Story Mode and in Visual Novel Mode.
  
  
• The Strip Learning minigame will be made available to owners of "Teaching Medicine" free DLC. This was an intended feature in the base DLC which never made it to the final release because it wasn't working properly as intended.
  
  
  
  You can now challenge both Ada and Annette in a test of knowledge of Biology and Chemistry, using real questions made to Italian med-school candidates to test their knowledge of basic stuff. For every right answer you will remove a piece of clothing from the girls, until they lose everything. If you will win the game a brand-new achievement will be unlocked as well. But beware that 3 wrong answers will prevent you from continuing the game at all...
  
  

Update 1.9 will be available by the end of October on every platform. Now it's the perfect time to grab your copy, because in a couple months DLC#2 will also be availble!

First of all, sorry for the lack of latest updates about the game. This was due both to the holiday period and to a very bad personal family situation of mine, which slowed down things a bit.
I can only hope you are still with me on this project, because there will be many interesting stuff available real soon for you to enjoy!

Today I am introducing you a roadmap for the future of all my games up to December 31st, when I will publish a new roadmap up to June.

I hope you'll be excited as I am for the new features and upcoming in-game events!

SEPTEMBER

• 17th - update #15 for Yomi Alliance, including 4 new full classes, Academy stories, Dr. Li's full personal story, Sulijan interactions, assistant interactions and more!
  
• 30th - full revision of our Patreon Page, with new rewards and new tiers. Expect the Patreon page to be updated at least three times a week with new polls, behind-the-scenes, downloadable content and more

OCTOBER

• 15th - update #16 for Yomi Alliance, including the remaining part of classes, Academy stories, Aberoin's full personal story, Mivak interactions, the voice of Manu Intiraymi and more!
  
• New content patch for General Practitioner, including two brand new medical examinations with moral choices to be made. A very deep bug fix wlil also be included to further polish the game!
  
• 20th - The Devil's Shoes Episode #2 available for all Patrons and on itch.io
  The Devil's shoes is not available on Steam yet, but it will be in a few months after its sixth episode.

NOVEMBER

• 15th - update #17 for Yomi Alliance, which will include a fully featured mission, different for each career choice and taking part in Academy grounds after the Prophet's attack. Sulijan will also receive a full voice-over, stay tuned for the announcement of the Actress playing her!
  
• 30th - DLC #2 for General Practitioner "Emergency Procedures" will be out for Patreon supporters. The DLC will be free on Steam on December 20th for the Christmas Holidays
  
• 30th - The Coroner Saga Episode #4 will be available as a reward preview for Patroen supporters. The episode will be free for Season One owners and will be available on Steam on December 20th

DECEMBER

• 15th - update #18 for Yomi Alliance, including the full stories for Lt. Mkrell, Sulijan, Serena and Mivak
  
• 20th - DLC #2 for General Practitioner "Emergency Procedures" will be out for free to everyone owning the base game.

An update is available for General Practitioner

• Fixed an issue in Visual Novel mode which prompted into story mode after Elisa's conversation during the "Trip to Seattle" chapter.

Affected players went to see Dr. Richards about the job at the hospital, which was not meant to be there in VN Mode. To fix the issue it's sufficient to load a save before leaving Elisa's house or before leaving Dr. Richard's office and scroll back down to Elisa's house, then resume playing. I apologize for any discomfort this might have caused.
If you didn't choose to follow Elisa's path during Trip to Seattle the bug won't be present in your gameplay.

It's with great pleasure that I'm announcing you update 1.8.1 of General Practitioner. It adds many interesting stuff for the game, fixes some nasty persistent bugs and also introduces you new characters and a brand new medical exam!

VISUAL NOVEL MODE
You can now start a new game in Visual Novel Mode, meaning you will play the story without medical examinations, moving from one chapter to the next one and choosing who to pursue as a romantic interest.



Visual Novel mode is more than just a re-cut of content: the whole game has been revisited and improved, conversations have been added, the overall pacing of the story has increased and fixes have been applied. We made every effort to give players who already tried the game once to experiment more paths in a simpler way.

Whenever a "RED" dialogue option appears, it means that's a "Path Point", meaning you will choose the romantic partner with that dialogue and that choice will accompany you through the rest of the game. You cannot change the romantic path once started (the "Story Mode" will keep allowing you to do so, this is limited to Visual Novel mode only).



NEW RITA, NON-NTR STORY
As promised some time ago, Rita's NTR path has been made optional by a setting in the Preferences Screen. You can now live your romantic relationship with her without worrying too much about other guys having an affair with her.

Dialogues with Rita have changed, a new ending has been added as well as two different events and sexual situations. Explore the new path in both Story and Visual Novel mode!

NEW MEDICAL EXAMINATION: KAVITHA
As a reward for pledging on our patreon page, you can write down and ask for a medical exam to be introduced in the game. Kavitha is such a reward and you can enjoy her medical examination helped by a medical student named Jamal.



Follow Kavitha's story and enjoy this fresh, sexy content in both Exam Mode and Story Mode!

A lot of improvements have been made throughout the game. I hope you'll enjoy them. The game is constantly being updated with new content, for free.

PRICE INCREASE FOR THE GAME
As the game gets more and more content it is planned to increase its price a little. The price stayed this way since Alpha release 0.0.18 but it also received many big updates, and more are coming. Those of you who already own the game should worry not, as they will receive every update for free.

For the others I suggest you to grab a copy during the upcoming summer sales, as the game will receive a nice discount! The new price for the game will be 19,99$ (and regional equivalents) starting from after the Summer Sales. Of course this doesn't apply to current owners of the game.

GENERAL PRACTITIONER 1.8.1 RELEASE

GENERAL:

• Added an option to turn off NTR Content with Rita when starting a new game in both Visual Novel and Story Mode. You cannot change that option once the game's started.
  
• Fixed an issue which prevented, in some cases, to play the "Physician, Heal Thyself" doctor's own examination by his relative. The issue occurred if you didn't hire all available physicians.
  This examination is not available in Visual Novel mode.
  
• Google Analytics' choices tracking system has been removed from the game.
  
• Various bug fixing
  
• Fixed a crash during Katia Lopez's 2nd examination when performing MRI or Urinalysis
  
• Fixed an issue which awarded -5 points for not performing an ultrasound exam on Felicity when it was not intended to be available.

• Fixed an issue with Maryanne's examination not giving you the right points and outcome for your choice to call social services.

• New exam available: Kavitha (ID Code 6082756276). This examination has been written upon request as a reward for a pledger on Patreon. You can play the examination in EXAM mode and in Story mode after October 23rd, in-game time.

STORY:

• A new ending and new dialogues have been written for Rita if you disabled the NTR content.
  
• A new fully dialogued sex scene with Rita has been added if you follow her path and disable the NTR content.

A few days ago I realized that General Practitioner is 3 years old! Barely a couple months older than my firstborn son! And I was almost missing the rightful celebrations the game deserved!

GP made my debut into professional videogame development, it's a project I hold very dear for many reasons, and it's been a huge success since it's first Early Access release on October 2018.

Celebrating the game has been difficult this year because of my work on more fronts: Yomi Alliance, Episode 3 of The Coroner Saga and the upcoming Steam Summer Sales kept me busy a lot. Add to this my work to include new rewards for Patrons and the Covid-19 pandemic which slowed my project A LOT, hurting it on the financial side as well, and you get the idea.
