  • Factory is back and better than ever
  • Full of new props, hiding spots, and creepy dolls
  • Watch out for the murder dolls...
Ghostsmasher Rework

Added a small buckler shield that can be used to block incoming damage. It is not as effective as the full riot shield, but can be useful when dueling a Ghost before or after Midnight.
  • New small buckler shield to block some incoming damage
  • Can chain lightning damage up to 3 times against Ghosts or moving possessed props
Sledgehammer Rework

Added the ability to charge up an attack for added damage; the higher you heft your hammer, the stronger your swing will be!
  • New charge up attack
  • Can destroy large props in 1 or 2 hits depending on the charge up
New Hero Props
  • Murder Doll - Runs around and lunges at hunters with a knife
  • Warehouse Gate - Acts as a guillotine to smash hunters
  • Forklift - Yeeting hunters into the air has never been more fun

Hey all we have another patch ready for you today!

This patch has a fairly large matchmaker change for lower level players, as well as some bug fixes. The team is hard at work behind the scenes on a large content update as well, keep an eye out for more information on that very soon! 👀

Patch Notes
  • Low level player matchmaking changes: players level 6 or lower now have their own matchmaking pool for up to 2 minutes before resetting back to the wider pool. Bots will be used to fill empty slots depending on queue times/player population. This is in an effort to improve the new player experience
  • Fixed the "Master of Loadouts" achievement not unlocking properly. If you have previously met the requirements, simply log in to receive the achievement and title
  • Sledgehammer damage increased (note: melee weapons are due for a larger rework, stay tuned)
  • Fixed an exploit that could allow for multiple ghost chargeup attacks at once
  • Fixed spots on Ghost Ship where possible to avoid salt water damage
  • Fixed many collision issues on Ghost Ship, Asylum, School, Theatre, and Museum
  • Fixed incorrect prop damage on a few props

Thanks once again for all of your feedback and bug reports! If you haven't already, join us on our Discord!

Thanks again and see you on the hunt!

Happy Friday all, today we have another patch ready for you!

We have seen some improvements overall to the quality of matches created since the changes last week, and are still keeping a close eye on it to make sure they continue to improve.

As always, we are focused on addressing the biggest issues and incorporating feedback.

Patch Notes
  • Hosts of quick play games (games created by quick play) can no longer kick players or force change teams. Games manually hosted can still kick, though we are now monitoring more closely for kick abuse in public lobbies
  • New Victory Pose: "Rainbow" - adapted from our recently added Rainbow in-game emote
  • Hunters can now properly jump onto ladders without sliding down
  • Ghosts can no longer break fellow Ghosts out of Doppelganger form with damage
  • Ghost charge-up attack and ghost punch damage reduced slightly but only before Midnight, after Midnight is unchanged
  • Ghosts can now more reliably damage traps that are placed on a slope below or above them
  • Added Ukrainian as a supported in-game language
  • Fixed bug in custom games with respawns enabled always displaying "99" lives remaining until the first respawn occurs
  • Fixed bug where consuming bots and sometimes players would not show up in the killfeed properly
  • Beta tester title and skins no longer appear to players unless they have it unlocked since they are no longer attainable
  • Suit of armor on Asylum behind invisible wall fixed
  • Out of bounds in Museum nature room dome fixed
  • Potentially fixed rare bug where Hunters could respawn out of bounds
  • Fixed Ghost Ship collision issues with sword trophy prop
  • Various collision and unintended hiding spot fixes as usual
  • Various localization fixes and updates

Thanks once again for all of your feedback and bug reports! If you haven't already, join us on our Discord!

We are also hard at work on a roadmap for Early Access to share with you all, stay tuned for that.

Thanks again and see you on the hunt!

Hey all! Happy Friday, we have another patch ready for you!

As always, we are focused on addressing the biggest issues and incorporating feedback.

We are continuing to adjust our matchmaker to provide better quality matches. Initial tests look promising, though may result in slightly increased wait times. We will continue to monitor and tweak going forward, thank you for the feedback and ongoing discussions.

Patch Notes
  • Ongoing matchmaker tweaks, should result in better matches although could increase wait times slightly
  • Generator is now invulnerable for 10 seconds after match starts (eventually will have salt circle VFX to illustrate this)
  • Anvil prop damage reduced, was misclassified as a 'large' prop
  • Hunters are now much easier to ping directly
  • Quickcharge Ghost perk now comes with a longer cooldown (roughly 20% longer) to make staying airborne a little more difficult
  • Ghost punch damage lowered slightly
  • Fixed prop chargeup attack multi-hit bug when knocked back by Salt Shotgun or Riot Shield
  • Fixed issue where rarely possessing a prop that was just destroyed will pull you underground
  • Fixed bug where you could not start firing automatically if you have run out of grenades
  • Fixed bug where Ghost Ship was incorrectly marked as Mansion in match history
  • Fixed bug where Lamp title was not properly awarded upon completion of achievement
  • Fixed bug where Hunter's Worst Nightmare and Ghost's Worst Nightmare achievements were mismatched
  • Fixed bug where unlocking cosmetics in the firing range would not count towards cosmetic unlock achievements
  • Easter Egg props have been collected and put into storage until next year
  • Shader and texture optimization work is ongoing
  • Many collision and out of bounds fixes

Thanks once again for all of your feedback and bug reports, they have been extremely helpful. If you haven't already, join us on our Discord, where we have channels setup to make it super easy to tell us all about any bugs you run into or any feedback you might have!

We are currently preparing a roadmap for Early Access to share with you all, stay tuned for that.

Thanks again and see you on the hunt!

Midnight Ghost Hunt - Skedog
Hey all! Another great week of Early Access has passed, and we have another patch ready for you!

As usual, we are focused on addressing the biggest issues and incorporating feedback. Also, we've got some easter eggs for you to find! Read on below.

Patch Notes
  • NEW EASTER EGG PROP! (1 on every map, can you find them all? 👀)
  • We have made some major improvements to the anti-cheat! Please continue to report cheaters as you see them, we have taken action on some accounts already, and will continue to do so as needed
  • Phantom Ghost ability now breaks pings and cannot be pinged directly during duration
  • Reaper has been made slightly more accurate when not scoped in. This isn't a full revert, but we agree that we might have slightly over tuned it last week, so we are dialing that back a bit. The crosshair is now also accurate to the level of spread during movement
  • Fixed major Ghost damage bug sometimes causing "11" or similar damage - this was due to latency and incorrect ordering of the damage server-side
  • Fixed several prop hit detection issues, related to the knock-back from the Salt Shotgun and other collision issues
  • Frostbite slow effectiveness improved and damage increased
  • Project X damage has been bumped down slightly
  • Untrappable now prevents Frostbite slow in addition to the others
  • Added Korean and Italian as supported languages. More to come!
  • Ghost souls for reviving will now return to the floor to prevent souls from floating and being unable to be revived
  • You can now directly ping Apparition ghosts as if they were a real Ghost, furthering confusion
  • Miasma can no longer damage generators/traps/C4 through walls
  • Doppelganger damage increased slightly and cooldown reduced slightly
  • Fixed Doppelganger health bug with custom rules enabled
  • Shove Hunters has been adjusted to be more consistent with the displacement effect
  • The basketballs on School are now 100% more bouncy
  • Fixed falling out of the map on Asylum as a dead ghost, sorry about that!
  • Many collision issues fixed as well

Thanks again for all of your feedback and bug reports, they have been so very helpful. If you haven't already, join us on our Discord, where we have channels setup to make it super easy to tell us all about any bugs you run into or any feedback you might have!

Thanks again and see you on the hunt!

Midnight Ghost Hunt - Skedog
Hey all! It has been 1 week since we launched into early access - thanks again everyone for your incredible support and feedback! It's been a blast playing and discussing with you all.

Over the past week, the team has been listening and focusing on how best to address common feedback and complaints without disrupting what people seem to be enjoying the most.

As a quick note, we are aware of the prop damage/hit registration issues, and while we don't have a fix ready for that in this patch, it is high on the team's priority list and will ideally improve this in the next patch.

We've just released our first patch in an attempt to address various feedback and reports we've been getting from the community, and here's what you can expect from it!

Patch Notes

  • By default, Quick Play-created games now end after 2 matches and put everyone back into queue. This should help mix up the matches a bit and improve our matchmaker pool significantly. Server browser-created games are not affected. Players can vote on a rematch to continue the rounds as desired
  • XP/Shards are now granted as soon as the game is over, rather than waiting until after the MVP screen. This will ideally improve host quits to deny progress
  • New "lobby code" system: Share the code to make it easier for your friends to join your lobby
  • Added 4 new languages: French, Spanish, Polish, and Brazilian Portuguese. More to come!
  • BONUS NEW EMOTE: Rainbow!
  • Harpoon Bazooka now has a reload/cooldown animation to make it less spammable, and the duration of Harpoon attachment reduced
  • Untrappable Ghost Perk now works as a counter to Harpoon as well by making the duration much shorter
  • Reaper is now less accurate while moving/not scoped in. Movement speed increases inaccuracy while hip firing
  • Pinging a player now will only track them for 2.5 seconds instead of 4, allowing for more escapes
  • Minor prop health and speed adjustments, and Ghost form is slightly faster now
  • Streamer mode improvements, now hides lobby name, invite code, and team text chat
  • Added option to turn off the auto-balancer in Server Tools
  • Vacuum and Consume XP set to 50XP down from 100XP due to outshining kills in MVP screen
  • Fix issue where you could not apply some resolution settings in the video options menu
  • Password entry is no longer visible plaintext
  • Potentially fixed memory issue while sitting in the friend invite screen for awhile
  • Fix "Generator Under Attack" sound not playing
  • Many map collision problems and unintended hiding spots fixed
  • It should be less likely for NA and Asian lobbies to end up together, though this is something we are continuing to adjust
  • Many more bug fixes

A note on Anti-cheat: we are currently working with our anti-cheat provider to improve overall reliability, there have been some improvements as we go but not completely solved as of this patch. We will keep everyone posted on our progress.

Thanks for all of your feedback and bug reports, they have been tremendously helpful! If you haven't already, join us on our Discord, where we have channels setup to make it super easy to tell us all about any bugs you run into or any feedback you might have!

Thanks again and see you on the hunt!

Midnight Ghost Hunt - Skedog
Greeting Ghosts, and Hello Hunters! 👋

We launched into Early Access yesterday! The entire team here would like to express our most heartfelt thank you to all of you who’ve already purchased the game, the Early Backer Pack/Bundle, or soundtrack. We appreciate the support immensely and will continue to improve upon the game as we continue through Early Access!

It’s been an absolute joy to play with you all, chat about the game, and check all of your wonderful MGH creations - whether they were memes, screenshots, YouTube videos, or live streams. We love to see that, and hope to see them coming! 😊

WHERE TO FIND US

There are a couple of things we wanted to point out to make sure that you can access all the information that’s out there. We have a wonderful, active Discord community where you can discuss the game, look for a group to play with, give us valuable feedback, post memes, and screenshots, and promote your stream or channel.

If you come across any pesky bugs while playing, you can report them over at https://midnightghosthunt.featureupvote.com/ As a quick reminder, we want to point out that our board at Feature Upvote is solely for bug reporting. Feedback and suggestions can be discussed over on our Discord.

You can also join us on Twitter or Reddit!

INCOMING UPDATES

We have a long list of languages on their way to MGH:
French
Spanish
Polish
Brazilian Portuguese
Korean
Italian

These will be added to the ones already in-game:
English
German
Russian
Chinese (simplified)

We’ve also gone through your feedback and are keeping a close eye on the matchmaking concerns, as well as Harpoon Bazooka balance.

Matchmaking is something we’re continuing to look at, and it appears related to how many players often find one good lobby and play there for awhile, instead of being thrown back into the matchmaking queue after a few games. So the amount of open slots available tend to be reduced at any given time. We’re looking into ways to reduce the chance of being put into very high ping lobbies as much as we can.

Teams of Hunters stacking the Harpoon Bazooka is also something we’re looking into. There’s a few potential routes we could take here, be sure to let us know your thoughts on our Discord. We’ll try some things internally and keep you all posted.

We’ve also heard about hosts leaving before XP and shards are granted. This will be improved in an upcoming update, with XP/shards being granted immediately on game over instead of when the top players screen appears a bit later.

Eventually, we will set up a way for shards/XP to be granted as you go in a match, though that may take some time to implement and test properly.

We’ve seen the discussion about dedicated servers - this is something the team is working on with high priority. We were hoping to have them in for launch, though we hit some technical hurdles. We’ll continue to work on them and hope to have them ready in a future update. Stay tuned for news on that.

On a lighter note, a little bird told me there are some cool new emotes in the works, too, so remember to keep an eye out! 👀

See you on the hunt!

We look forward to playing with you all, and we’ll catch you around midnight! 😉
Midnight Ghost Hunt - Skedog
Hey Ghosts and Hunters,

Another week with more exciting news! This time around, we’ve got a release date for you, as well as an awesome new cinematic trailer.

THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT
Today at the Future Games Show, we announced that we are releasing into Steam Early Access on March 31st, at a price of $19.99! This is wildly exciting for our team, as we’ve been working for years to develop Midnight Ghost Hunt, and now we’re finally closing in on the day it’s available to everyone.

THE TRAILER
As mentioned, we also released an incredible new cinematic trailer today. We’re excited to share this with all of you, as we’ve been working on it for quite some time. It definitely evokes the spirit of MGH, and it’s awesome (if we do say so ourselves). Be sure to check it out!

ONWARD TO EARLY ACCESS!
Now that you’ve watched the cinematic trailer and you’re all pumped for Early Access (...you DID watch it, right?) we can let you in on a little secret. Before we get to Early Access, we’ve got one last hurrah planned. On March 28th, we’ll kick off a two-day closed beta!

All of you long-time players have one more chance to sharpen your hiding and hunting skills! This is also a fantastic opportunity for some of you who have never had the chance to play to get another crack at experiencing MGH before it kicks off worldwide.

While we won’t be able to grant access to everyone, new players can still request access to this Beta on our Steam store page for a chance to get to play during the Beta period. We’re planning to really open the flood gates for this final test, so we’ll do our best to give access to as many folks as we can manage.

Also, this beta will NOT BE UNDER NDA! Content creators rejoice, it’s finally time! 🙏

Here’s some of what’s new for our final beta:

CUSTOM GAME OPTIONS
This is by far the biggest feature we’ve added since our last test. With custom game options, you can take even more control of server settings to randomize loadouts, choose which weapons to allow and which to ban, and even do things like adjust movement speeds or give everyone a mystery loadout! This should make for all sorts of fun scenarios (who doesn’t like 5x movement speed and only weapons that make for big booms?!), and we can’t wait to see what crazy game modes you all come up with!

NEW HERO PROPS
We’ve also added two new hero props to MGH! The new hero props are… T-Rex Head and the Skeleton! We’ll leave it up to you to figure out where you can find them, what they do, and how they work. Suffice it to say T-Rex Head has more than a little bite to it!

FIRE, FURY, AND BALANCE
As we’ve had the balancing of the Flamethrower on our minds for quite some time, we’ve decided to make it a heavy weapon from now on, similar to Project-X. Gone are the days of rapidly razing every prop in sight to the ground - now you’ll need to employ a more measured pace when using the Flamethrower, as your movement speed will be reduced while it’s equipped.

COOKING WITH A BANG
Grenades can now be cooked and will cause self-damage if cooked too long (just like mom’s macaroni recipe) or if standing too close to their explosion radius, similarly to C4.

LIFE TRACKING
In order to prevent players from quitting games and rejoining to be alive again, we’ve implemented a new life tracking system. Now players won’t be able to game the system by hopping in and out of servers.

ACCESSIBILITY - COLOR VISION DEFICIENCY OPTIONS
We want as many people as possible to be able to play and enjoy MGH. To make that easier for our friends with color vision deficiency, we’ve added a first pass feature aimed at easing the difficulties of play they experience. We intend to continue improving this feature for the future, so if you experience color vision deficiency, be sure to let us know how this works for you!

SHOW ‘EM HOW YOU FEEL
There will be FIVE new emotes to try out with this beta!
  • Admire the Duck
  • Kung-Fu
  • So Scary
  • Nirvana
  • Peek-a-boo
NEW VICTORY POSES
We’ve added 13 new unlockable options for victory poses! Of course, you’ll need to win to use them yourself, so… best of luck!

NEW HUNTER SKINS
We have added several new Hunter skins and have reworked a couple of the existing ones as well! Let us know which one is your favorite!

TITLES AND ACHIEVEMENTS
In addition to victory poses and emotes, we’ve also added 29 Titles, and 42 Achievements for you to unlock!

RECENT PLAYERS LIST
In order to make it easier for you to add new friends and connect with awesome players (and report ones the less awesome ones who left before you had a chance to report them), we’ve added a recent players list. You can find it in the add to party panel.

NEW VAN AND RIDE-INS
Last but not least, we’ve hooked you all up with a new whip. The van has been totally redone, and vehicle ride-ins are much more realistic now! There’s stuff to look at, the vehicles turn and maneuver, and the experience is overall more dynamic and enjoyable. And before you ask… yes, you can still spray your profile picture in the van - don’t worry!

And much much more - we will publish a full changelog as usual on Discord when the closed Beta goes live!

That about wraps it up this time around, Ghosts and Hunters. We really hope you’ve enjoyed the cinematic trailer, and we look forward to playing with you all in the upcoming Beta and then Early Access. If you haven’t yet, be sure to wishlist MGH on Steam ahead of the Early Access launch to be notified when MGH is finally available for everyone. We’d love to hear all your thoughts regarding the last Beta, Early Access, and all things MGH so let’s chat over on Discord and Twitter!
