Maybe you've already picked up a few tricks and are getting used to the game. But for those of you that are still struggling, we've prepared these helpful tips!
Battles and Growing Your Corps Crew
Sometimes it's impossible to avoid battle while exploring the dungeons, even when you really need to. Making smart decisions at the right time will help you in tough situations like these.
Take advantage of your Leader's Expedition Skill: Change your Corps Crew Leader to use different skills that get you out of harm's way, like Shadow Blade's "Hide" and the Witch's "Time Stop." (Remember that your Fullness has to be at a certain level to use an Expedition Skill.)
If you can't avoid fighting, always engage first: When monsters run into you and initiate a battle, they get the upper hand. They may be able to attack first, or will break your formation, causing characters to randomly move before the battle begins. Pay close attention to monster movement and pace, using "Wait" if you need to. Try your best to bump into them first!
Do you always MISS? Then it's time to level up!: Your character may be too weak. You can strengthen them by not only leveling them up, but by improving their skills at the Training Camp and equipping them with better grade or Fused equipment. (For reference, each charater has basic stats that mean the following) : Attack power as a range (minimum to maximum). : Block power as a percentage of how much damage is reflected. : Health or HP. : MP (or SP/YP). HIT: Determines accuracy when attacking a target. CRI: Determines the ability to deal with fatal blows to a target. EVD: Determines the ability to evade an enemy attack. GRD: Determines the ability to block an enemy attack and take less damage. SPD: Determines the order of characters each Turn
Revive your dying members during Limbo: When the HP of a Corps Crew member reaches 0 during battle, they will enter Limbo, a state between life and death. Heal as soon as possible, and use SOS to give your turn to another character at random. Your teammates can turn the tides of the battle if they use the right skills!
Doomsday Clock
Are you running out of time before the Doomsday Clock strikes midnight, marking the end of the world? With thorough preparation and successful expeditions, you can turn back time.
Explore every nook and cranny of the dungeons: Opening Treasure Chests is important, but so is searching Debris, activating unlit Light Flowers, and defeating monsters. Successfully interacting with as much as possible in the dungeons may make the hands of the Doomsday Clock move backward. If you want to perform well, don't forget to find hiding monsters and chase after the ones that avoid you!
Prepare enough Food, Seed, and other consumable items to last longer during expeditions: But be careful not to bring too much, either. Any unused items that you leave the dungeon will be contaminated by the Mist. These "polluted" items may cause negative side effects.
The Doomsday Clock is affected by difficulty level: If you are playing on Easy, the Doomsday Clock will move more slowly than if you are playing on Normal or Hard mode.
Don't be afraid to try NEW strategies out!
There isn't a perfect way to play MISTOVER. You can use different gameplay styles and strategies to stay alive. Once you get the hang of it, you'll be able to enjoy even smoother expeditions into the world of Mist.
The more you play MISTOVER, the more freedom and wisdom you'll gain, and the better you'll become at staying one step ahead!
We hope that the tips we've provided above help first-time players and anyone else having trouble getting through expeditions.
Browse our previously published Beginner's Guides if you want more guidance.
The items in MISTOVER can largely be grouped into three categories: Equipment, Cursed Equipment, and Consumables.
Equipment: Weapons, Armor, Accessories
Weapons and Armor: Each class has equipment that is exclusive to them. These items can be obtained during expeditions. Equipping weapons will raise base stats that affect attack power. Equipping armor will raise base stats that affect ability to block.
Accessories: Usable by all classes, accessories raise stats like HIT, EVD, CRI, etc.
Equipment Properties:
There are three equipment rankings: Normal, Rare, and Epic.
The higher the ranking of equipment, the better stat boosts they provide. Rare and Epic equipment can be Fused more times than Normal equipment.
Epic and Rare equipment acquired during expeditions can be Evaluated at the Alchemy Workshop to reveal hidden abilities.
Consumables Food, Seed, and Potion are among the different consumable items available.
Food : Recovers Fullness. Ensures that the Corps Crew does not starve and can continue exploring.
Seed : Recovers Luminosity. The amount of Luminosity required changes depending on the size of the dungeon. Carrying at least 3 Seeds for small dungeons, 4 for medium-sized dungeons, and 5 for large dungeons is highly recommended.
Potion:Immediately recovers HP. While somewhat expensive, having 1-2 Potions on hand may be the difference between life and death.
Bandage : Cures Bleeding. It may seem like Bleeding does not cause significant damage, but over time, the value of Bandages will become clear. Carrying at least 3 Bandages is encouraged, although needs may vary depending on dungeon size.
Purified Water : Cures all Mesmerize/Debuff states, except for Bleeding and Stun. Mesmerize and Debuff states cannot kill the Corps Crew. However, when they severely interrupt the flow or progression of a battle, Purified Water should be used without hestitation. Carrying at least 1 Purified Water is recommended, although this may vary based on dungeon size.
Consumables carried in the Bag that remain unused upon exiting will be contaminated by the Mist. They then become "polluted" items.
Polluted items have a chance of causing side effects. While not fatal, the effects can temporarily disrupt an expedition, so use these items wisely.
Yesterday, we released an updated MISTOVER Demo, giving you a chance to experience what our game has to offer.
We have been keeping an eye on the forums and appreciate all your feedback. Today, we wanted to share a few updates related to the demos and upcoming official release!
1. Fast Forward Mode for Battles
After taking into consideration the feedback we received about the Time Trial Demo, we decided to make specific improvements for the Full Demo.
We realized that the timer may have unintentionally made gameplay more difficult, for example. But knowing the Full Demo wouldn't have a timer, we were more concerned about players wanting to fast forward through battle animations.
We added a feature so you can speed through by holding the A button! * For Nintendo Switch, however, updates will be released as a patch on October 1st. We're sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
2. Feedback Review
Since making the MISTOVER Demo available, we've been tracking your comments and feedback. We will be looking into the bugs, localization issues, and other suggestions that are being made. Your feedback is important, so don't forget to let us know what you think!
How did you you feel about our latest Time Trial Demo? Many of you left us encouraging feedback, but may have been frustrated about the time limit and inability to choose the classes or formation you really wanted.
That's why we've prepared a new Demo. It's available for free on Steam, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4, so try it out and have fun exploring!
Official Demo Features:
Enjoy the beginning of the MISTOVER storyline (about 3-4 hours of play time).
Nothing's been left out! You get access to the full mechanics and gameplay options, just as they'll be in the Official Release.
Mix and match 6 different classes for your Corps Crew, experimenting with skills and formation for the best expeditions and battles.
Please be aware your progress in the demo cannot be transferred to the full game when it releases on October 10, 2019. Think of this as a practice run!
* For those of you that have already downloaded the Time Trial Demo into your Steam Library, please restart your Steam client to download the latest "MISTOVER Demo." There is no time limit in the Official Demo, so we hope you enjoy playing our newest Steam build!
MISTOVER is a turn-based game where time plays a key role in determining your fate. The encroaching Mist threatens all of humanity, and every moment is precious in the countdown to the end of the world.
Each turn you take throughout the game is linked to your survival and the time remaining for you to save humanity. That's why understanding the role of both "time" and "turn" in MISTOVER is essential!
What is the Doomsday Clock?
The mysterious contraption visualizes the time remaining until the end of the world. At the end of every expedition, the Doomsday Clock may move. When it strikes midnight, the world will face its doom.
Depending on gameplay and performance, the hands of the Doomsday Clock will either move forward or backward.
Defeat more monsters, illuminate more Light Flowers, and search more Treasure Chests and Debris to keep the Doomsday Clock from striking midnight.
Even trivial activities can affect the movement of the Doomsday Clock. Explore dungeons efficiently and work hard to prevent the end of the world!
Why is Time/Turn Important During Expeditions?
Each action performed during an expedition counts as 1 turn, including moving, using "Wait," using an Expedition Skill or item, etc.
Every turn depletes Fullness and Luminosity. The higher the level of your Corps Crew members, the more Fullness and Luminosity they will consume.
When Fullness is at more than 1, HP and MP will be recovered. However, when Fullness reaches 0, your Corps Crew will lose HP for every action performed!
Luminosity
When Luminosity falls below a certain level, your field of vision will decrease. At 0, visibility will be very limited.
Continuing an expedition with low Luminosity makes it more difficult to efficiently explore a dungeon and anticipate the approach of monsters.
Have you all enjoyed playing the MISTOVER Time Trial Demo? We hope everyone was able to receive the three smartphone wallpapers! The Time Trial Demo was an event created with our players in mind. We're keeping an eye on every bit of feedback we receive on Steam, Twitter and more.
Today, we wanted to briefly update Steam users about the improvements we're planning for our Steam build. With limited development resources, we have been preparing to release MISTOVER at the same time across multiple platforms (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation4, Steam). But we realize we could be doing more to make the Steam build even better.
Aimo team has been paying close attention to the Steam forums, tracking comments and opinions from our Korean and international players alike. We are doing our best to reflect user wants and needs into upcoming builds.
Our first course of action is to improve the following three issues on our Final Build (Launch Version):
UI Improvement: Adding a "Quit" menu.
Keyboard Controls Improvement: Making diagonal movement easier by using the 10 key pad and movement action key.
Bug Fix: Fixing the "Press any key" bug at the start of the game, which currently only works if the "C" key is pressed.
We look forward to your continued support and feedback, and will work hard to make sure that MISTOVER is an even better, more enjoyable game!
Before entering a dungeon, up to 5 Corps Crew members can be assigned different positions (front, center, back) on a 3 x 3 battle formation grid.
The skills that each class can use changes based on their position, so carefully consider the best Corps Crew formation.
Formation bonuses will be given based on placement in the front (GRD), center (EVD), and back (CRI).
Take Expedition Bag:
For expeditions to go smoothly, it is necessary to bring useful consumables.
However, there is a limit to how many items can be carried.
Begin Expedition:
After making the necessary preparations, press and hold the "Begin Expedition" button to start exploring.
Exploring Dungeons
The most important thing to remember during expeditions is making it back to Town safely. Keep the Corps Crew alive by moving efficiently, conserving supplies, and acquiring useful items from Debris and Treasure Chests.
Corps Crew Leader: Displays the character selected as the Corps Crew Leader in the middle of the screen. When the Expedition Skill button is pressed, it is the Leader's Expedition Skill that will be activated.
Movement: Use the Directional Buttons/Left Stick (or Arrow Keys) to move the character in any of 4 directions: up, down, left, and right. Press the "Shortcuts" button (R, R1, or D) + Directional Buttons/Left Stick (or Arrow Keys) to move diagonally.
Fullness and Luminosity: As the Corps Crew moves and performs actions, their levels of Fullness and Luminosity are depleted. When Fullness is at more than 1, the Corps Crew will recover HP and MP over time. However, when Fullness is at 0, the reverse will happen and HP will decrease. Use Food from the Bag to keep Fullness from dropping too low.
Map: Every dungeon is mazelike with a layout that changes each time the Corps Crew enters. It is thus difficult to navigate without referring to the Map. Throughout an expedition, make frequent use of the Map to check the location of the Corps Crew.
Debris: Search Debris to acquire helpful expedition items, like consumables.
Treasure Chests and Keys: Find Treasure Chests hidden in the dungeon to acquire equipment and other items. To open a chest, a matching key must be acquired first. There are three types of Treasure Chests/Keys: Golden, Silver, and Wooden. The number and types of keys that have been found are displayed in the upper right corner.
Returning to Town: Leave the dungeon through the Exit (see image below) to retain 100% of what was acquired while exploring, including EXP, items, and gold. If it becomes impossible to continue the expedition because of fatal wounds or otherwise, use "Run Away" to escape. Keep in mind there is a penalty for failing to use the Exit. No EXP will be awarded, and 50% of all acquired items and gold will be lost.
Basic Battle Commands
Skills: Only one skill can be used at a time. To activate a skill, an ordinary character uses MP. (The Ronin and Grim Reaper are the exceptions, and have special points called YP and SP, respectively.)
Block: Immediately recover a set amount of MP and reduce the damage dealt by future monster attacks.
Bag: During battle, accessing the Bag to use items is considered performing an action, just like using Skills or Block.
Move: Move 1 cell in any of 8 directions if a skill is unusable from a character's current position, or even to minimize the range of an enemy attack.
Analyze Status: See what effects (like Buffs/Debuffs) are active on a Corps Crew member or monster. Monster skills and skill descriptions are also viewable.
Escape: Give up on the current battle to avoid fighting or stay alive. Each character has a fixed chance of success to Escape.
Turn Order: The order of characters for every Turn is displayed as icons lined up from left to right at the bottom of the screen. After each Turn, the order changes based on the SPD of each Corps Crew member and monster. Buffs, Debuffs, and other effects during battle can also influence the Turn Order.
Corps Crew Details
We've explained MISTOVER's battle formation before in the Dev Blog "Formation and Co-op Skills," but you can check it out again by referring to the links at the bottom of this page!
Battle Skills:
Battle Skills: The position of a Corps Crew member affects the skills they can use and their area of effect. When creating an expedition party, it is thus very important to consider the overall formation and position of each character. Next to every skill are boxes that mimic tiles on the battle formation grid. The white boxes to the left show in what positions the skill becomes usable (front, center, back). The boxes to the right represent what range a skill will have on allies (green) or enemies (red).
Co-op Skills: After reaching certain levels, special Co-ops skills that require cooperative casting between two Corps Crew members can be acquired. These powerful skills are only usable when specific classes are positioned in front, behind, or next to another Corps Crew member. Each class has a maximum of three Co-op skills. These often have a wide area of effect, causing damage, recovery, Buffs/Debuffs, and other status changes on multiple allies or enemies.
Abnormal States
During battle, Buffs apply positive effects for a specific number of Turns, while Debuffs apply negative effects.
Bleeding, Weaken, Stun and other Debuffs can be recovered from by using Bandages, Purified Water, or Corps Crew member skills that remove specific status effects.
Jinx Skills:
Corps Crew members acquire passive Jinx skills as they level up. Exchange an unfavorable Jinx for another random Jinx using "Modify Jinxes" at the Training Camp in Town.
Think carefully before equipping the cursed equipment salvaged from a deceased Corps Crew member. The Jinx attached to the items will be transferred to the wearer.
Death:
During expeditons and battles, a Corps Crew member will die if their HP falls below 0.
Death is permanent, and deceased Corps Crew members cannot be revived.
When the HP of a Corps Crew member hits 0 during battle, they enter "Limbo." By quickly recovering HP, they can evade death.
Today, we'll share all about the activities across Town that will help ensure your expeditions are safe and efficient.
MISTOVER's Town is the central location from which you'll prepare your Corps Crew to explore the dangerous dungeons in the world of Mist.
Expedition Center
(*The control keys in the screenshots may vary depending on the platform.)
Recruit new members and manage your Corps Crew.
Every week, recruits that are not hired will be switched out with new recruits that may know different battle skills. (Any Expedition Corps members rescued from dungeons will also be available for affordable prices.)
Training Camp
Corps Crew members with SP (skill points) gained from leveling up can learn new skills or increase the level of existing skills using "Train Battle Skill."
For a Corps Crew member to learn a new skill, another character that already knows it must be recruited. After the skill is passed down, the predecessor will disappear.
Characters also acquire passive Jinx skills as they level up, which can cause either positive or negative effects. Exchange an unfavorable Jinx for another random Jinx using "Modify Jinxes."
Alchemy Workshop
Items acquired in dungeons may have names in blue (Rare) or purple (Epic). They contain special attributes that can be revealed using "Evaluate Equipment." Evaluation requires "Mist," which can be found in Treasure Chests.
Use "Fuse Equipment" to improve items with unimpressive qualities, enhancing them with the attributes of other items.
Fusion requires "Essence." This can be obtained from Treasure Chests in dungeons, or by using "Disassemble Equipment."
Support Lab
Make requests that help the Corps Crew during expeditions and battles. Conduct research to increase maximum Fullness or Luminosity, expand space in Storage or the Bag, increase EXP or Gold acquisition, and more.
Research requires different types of "Journal" items that can be collected from Debris and Treasure Chests.
Storage
Check items purchased from the Shop or acquired during expeditions.
There is a limit to how much can be kept in the Storage. To free up space, either discard items or sell them to the Shop.
Shop
Buy items necessary for expeditions or sell unused items. Visiting the Shop is vital for making sure the Corps Crew has enough supplies to survive while exploring dungeons.
Depending on game progress, different types and quantities of items will be available.
Office
Accept requests from Stella and Heinrich that are tied to the storyline, and report back after fulfilling all the conditions.
Complete requests to receive helpful items for making progress in the game.
Pier
Use the Pier to visit the vortex and explore dangerous dungeons in the world of Mist.
Every week, the dungeons available in each area will change. Dungeons will have different sizes, levels of monsters, and acquirable items. Check the dungeon descriptions and evaluate the Corps Crew to decide which dungeon to clear.
We hope that you had a much better understanding of all the different characters and possible battle styles, through the previous posts explaining the battle skills of each class in MISTOVER.
In case you missed it, we have also started accepting pre-orders for the game since last Thursday!
There isn't much time left before the official release, so today we'd like to share with you a very important part of battle: formation.
Formation
MISTOVER features a 3X3 battle formation grid. In order to take advantage of all the diverse class skills, characters must be assigned to positions where those skills are usable!
For example, most of the Werewolf's skills require him to be in the front or center of the formation. Placing him in the back only allows him to use 2 of his 10 battle skills.
That's why it is important to place each class in the right position.
During battle, formation positions may randomly change because of skills cast by monsters or your Corps Crew.
Continuous maintenance of the front, center, and back of the formation is crucial. Similarly, you should strategically use skills that disrupt the enemy formation, forcing monsters to move.
Co-op skills
One of the most exciting game elements in MISTOVER is when two different classes in specific positions come together to use special Co-op skills!
The Co-op skills introduced above are a subset of powerful battle skills because their range of effect includes either all enemies or all party members.
Co-op skills only become usable when a specific class is placed in front, behind, or next to another. Therefore, which characters you choose for your Corps Crew and what formation positions you assign them can radically alter how battles progress.
Paladin (+Ronin): Defensive Posture - Give all party members a 25% DEF Increase buff. Requires a Ronin in front of you.
Witch (+Ronin): Star Striker - Inflict damage equal to 150% of your ATK on all enemies and recover HP equal to 25% of the damage. Requires a Ronin next to you.
Grim Reaper (+Witch): Practical Death - 80% chance to give a 25% ATK Decrease debuff to all enemies. Requires a Witch behind you. Brand all enemies.
So, what do you think? Do you have what it takes to venture into the world of Mist with your Corps Crew and make it out alive?
