Given how creative the Conqueror’s Blade community is, we thought it would be a good idea to let you guys create your own loading screens to help us celebrate the first anniversary of Conqueror’s Blade.
Loading screens aren’t usually something to be celebrated as they represent the wait between gameplay sessions - and the shorter they stay on screen the better - but a good loading screen will give players a flavour of what’s to come when the game cuts to the action. Some loading screens can become as iconic as other parts of the game.
Which is where you come in. What we’re hoping to see are three winning entries that have the potential to be as good - if not better - than the current crop of loading screens. Booming Games will work with the three entrants to ensure their work fits with the other art in the game.
The winning loading screens will be only displayed ahead of Deathmatch battles, so please theme your ideas around unit-free arena encounters. As well as their work being displayed for all to see, winners will also receive 2300 Sovereigns.
RULES OF ENTRY
Entries should be submitted via the Anniversary Contest Discord channel. Please include your character name and server alongside your submission. (We may ask for further evidence to prove that your entry was created by you.)
Entries must be received before June 25th, 2020 at 23:59 CEST (2:59pm PDT).
Only 1920x1080 .jpg and .png image file formats will be accepted.
There should be no blood, skeletons, or dead bodies depicted in entries.
There should be no signature added to the artwork - these can obstruct game elements and will be added by our team when necessary.
Your entry cannot feature any copyrighted or third-party material. Only entries featuring original artwork inspired by Conqueror’s Blade will be considered.
The best entries will be determined by Booming Games and the Conqueror’s Blade team and winners will be announced on the Conqueror’s Blade website after the contest has ended.
Winning entries will only be added to the game at the discretion of Booming Games, assuming entries fully adhere to quality standards.
You agree that your entry can be used by Booming Games, My.com and MY.GAMES for promotional purposes (for example, for publication on our official social channels or websites) for all versions of Conqueror’s Blade across all territories in perpetuity.
Entrants found to violate the Terms of Service or break competition rules are subject to disqualification up to and beyond the conclusion of the competition.

It’s very easy to say you are a medieval history geek, but there is plenty of evidence to suggest that Crescentine knows more than most about her chosen speciality. As well as Conqueror’s Blade she regularly streams about a number of interests, among them her love of archery, which goes some way to explaining her preference for the longbow. “I am very passionate about archery and I’m an archer in any game I play” she says, before talking about the bows she owns and their lethal-sounding accoutrements. ”I’ve always been attracted to medieval themed games since I was a child and when I saw Conqueror’s Blade, I just knew it was the game for me.”
It’s now a year since Crescentine started streaming Conqueror’s Blade at the start of open beta testing, having been streaming games since 2017 when she moved to Europe. “It became difficult to play with my friends back there [in Asia]” she says, “so I decided to start streaming to find a community online wherein I can make friends and play games regardless of timezone!”
“I love reapers, they are so good in everything! Attack and defence; you can turn the tide of any battle by using your reapers wisely.”
Crescentine calls herself a “variety streamer”, as she plays RPG games, hosts archery training sessions, indulges a passion for art, cookery and even tarot card readings, all of which has proved to be very rewarding: “After every stream, receiving messages from people saying how much they’ve enjoyed your content is so motivating and brings me so much joy! Needless to say, I am in love with this game for so many reasons that I can’t fully describe in a short sentence but most of all, I am in love with the people I play with every day. With the people who fight by my side. The camaraderie that builds amongst players and diplomats in such tight-knit communities in a medieval setting. It’s so inspiring!”
Most days Crescentine (QueenCrescentine in-game) says that many hours are spent in discussion with her house and alliance leadership team and other diplomatic allies, working on ways to entertain and inform the members of MoonManor, MoonHouse, MoonDojo and the wider Lunatic alliance, as well as establish new friendships. “My channel goal has always been to be a part of a group of people who care for and support each other, who actually want to be friends despite online barriers” Those alliances have extended to other content creators, with recent collaborations with the likes of EvoLozGaming. “I’ve also been interacting a lot and supporting TouchMeSama, Czaruna and Zetsuky” she adds. “There are other content creators I’ve met but haven’t interacted with as much yet, but I’m looking forward to getting to know them all better in the future!”

Two maps are being reintroduced to Conqueror’s Blade as part of Thursday’s anniversary update, Harbour City and Augolia Outskirts. Harbour City, a war-ravaged Siege map, was first glimpsed back in June last year, but it was later withdrawn due to balancing issues. The seemingly more tranquil Augolia Outskirts is a more recent addition that is now joining the Field Battle ranks.
Harbour City (Siege)
Intractable and ceaseless combat is the theme of Harbour City, a Siege map that lives up to the adage of being easy to learn but hard to master. Both sides start along stark frontlines, with an impressive array of options to either breach or hold the smouldering walls of the city. The simple layout is even more deceptive inside the battlements, with barricades that force the attackers to explore the flanks while, while the defenders are able to make use of chokepoints to hold back the assault while counterattacking the centre line.
Changes to the map have been incremental and in favour of the attackers, such as an increased number of Trebuchets and siege ladders, plus an extra minute added to the timer when the first control point is captured. It’s still a tough challenge for an attacking force however, especially now that the defenders can call on one more hero, bringing the max player count to 15vs15. For the full list of changes, check out the patch notes (coming soon).
Augolia Outskirts (Field Battle)
Augolia is somewhat iconic, being not only the capital of Ostaria, but the host city for the game’s first-ever playable siege battles. Its distant walls will be for some a reassuring and nostalgic presence - a psychological redoubt for the defeated if nothing else.
Augolia Outskirts is a classic Field Battle map in most respects, with its three capture points more-or-less equidistant between the two starting sides, with point B commanding the high ground and providing the focus for the battles. The centre of the map is dominated by a half-built (or half-destroyed - it’s hard to tell) stone folly; presenting a dilemma for both sides: Whether to divide their forces and secure the flanks to gain a more long-term advantage, or to hold the centre and punch out when an opportunity presents itself. Needless to say the line between victory and defeat is a fine one.
Harbour City and Augolia Outskirts will be accessible via the in-game Battle menu (press J) from June 4th. See you there!
Back in January we introduced Auxiliary Units, a way by which you can temporarily include new units in your warbands - trial them, in effect - without having to unlock them in the usual way.
Six months on, the system is being updated to allow more and higher tier units to be recruited. Rather than a single Chivalric Era (3-star) unit and a single Heroic Era (4-star) unit, each available Auxiliary Unit will have a Recruitment Pont cost (roughly equal to its Leadership Point cost), with players able to spend up to 450 Recruitment Points per week.
In addition to 3 and 4-star units, there will be up to two Golden Era (5-star) Auxiliary Units available to temporarily recruit, although these will be limited to level 80 characters and above.
As under the previous system, Auxiliary Units will be automatically disbanded at the end of each weekend and characters will be free to select a new group of units up to their 450 Recruitment Point limit. However, if you subsequently permanently unlock a unit previously deployed as an Auxiliary, its Unit XP and Veterency will be restored.
Each week the following will be available as Auxiliary Units:
1-6 Chivalric Era units (3-star)
1-4 Heroic Era units (4-star)
1-2 Golden Era units (5-star)
The idea behind this change is to give players practical experience of units before committing to levelling them up. By including 5-star units in the mix, higher-level warlords will be able to trial more diverse and distinctive warband combinations. We certainly look forward to seeing them on the battlefield when the improved system is deployed later in the week!
He’s only been streaming for a few months, since January 2020, yet Hjulstad has amassed an impressive body of work that chronicles his relentless advancement in the game, with closing in on 3,000 matches completed as one class alone: “Nodachi for life!” he proclaims. “I always get pulled towards life-stealing damage classes in whatever game I play!”
Initially dismissing Conqueror’s Blade as a game overloaded with time-consuming NPC quests when he first heard about it early in 2019, Hjulstad later tried it out when he was recovering from a back injury in September last year. “I fell in love with its perfect mix of action-combat and abilities” he says. He also fell for a unit to accompany his beloved Nodachi hero: “The Tercios, my babies, have got a special place in my heart” he beams.
“Keep enjoying the game! If you feel something is OP or broken, try to play around it. It becomes more fun that way!”
It’s no surprise to learn that Hjulstad plays Conqueror’s Blade often. “After getting my kids off to school I log on and start streaming” he says. “Then I start checking the world map for resources, maybe some market checking, usually followed by sieges with my buds Thanatoss or Daybur!” Another friend through Conqueror’s Blade is YouTuber ShadeOnline: “We share the same mindset, in wanting to help new players on their journey.”
For Hjulstad, streaming Conqueror’s Blade and being part of the Content Creator’s Program is all about sharing practical knowledge while having fun. “The goal has been to entertain people and make them feel at home, while trying to answer any questions” he says, recalling times when he’s asked the viewers to decide which weapons and units to use, as well as taking on “very unserious Rebel Camp runs and some serious sieges.” He adds: “That’s why I started streaming in the first place!”
If you would like to support a Conqueror’s Blade Content Creator, you may like to consider purchasing a creator pack from the MY.GAMES Market. You can benefit Hjulstad’s efforts directly by using the influencer code ‘HJULSTAD' at checkout.
26/05/20 UPDATE: The amount required to unlock Pavise Crossbowmen with Honour was listed incorrectly and has been amended.
25/05/20 UPDATE: A few days ahead of schedule, the final Season III unit, Pavise Crossbowmen (tier 5), will be available to unlock from May 26 - from midnight server time!
As was the case for Season II, the new units that will be available during the course of Season III will need to be unlocked. For the Wrath of the Nomads units, this was achieved by completing weekly challenges, which scaled up as higher-tier units were introduced. The release of Season’s III units will follow a similar pattern, with four Seasonal units unlocked via Unit Challenges, with the Tier-5 Pavise Crossbowmen also able to be accessed with Honour points.
Each Unit Challenge stage will require a number of tasks to be completed, 6 out of 8 for Tier-3, 8 out of 10 for Tier-4 and 10 out of 12 for Tier-5. The Season III schedule is currently planned to last 10 weeks.
In addition to the four Seasonal units, Season III will introduce a new Mercenary unit, the Martellatori, which will be available from the Mercenary panel of the Unit interface for 4,900 Sovereigns or 700k Silver.
Units:
Prerequisite:
Condottieri Guards (Tier 3)
● Complete 2x Tier-3 Unit Challenge stages
Martellatori(Mercenary)
● 4,900 Sovereigns / 700,000 Silver
All Season II units
● 8 challenges need to be completed per stage (rather than 6), otherwise as per Season II
● Or, unlock with 25,000 Honour + prerequisite Unit Tree nodes
(*Dates are subject to change)
The return of Season II Unit Challenges
For those that didn’t manage to unlock all of the previous season’s units, the requisite Season II Unit Challenges will also be accessible for the duration of the new season. You can access them from a drop-down box in the top-left of the Unit Challenge screen of the Seasons interface (F5). Note that, while similar prerequisites will apply to unlock them, there will be no wait for higher tier units to become available. Also be aware that the additional rewards that were specific to Season II for unlocking units - Fangs and cosmetics - will not be issued, nor will it be possible to acquire Season II cosmetics from the Seasonal Store.
It’s important to note that you can only focus on one set of Unit Challenges at a time. If you wish to switch from completing Season III Unit Challenges to Season II’s, it will cost 1,000 Silver and there is a time penalty to switching back (which can be offset by Silver), so consider carefully when might be the best time to focus on the units you need. If and when you do switch, your progress will be saved for when you return.
New Challenges
As well as the return of unit Unlock Challenges, new to Season III are Experience Challenges and Growth Challenges. Together they comprise all the Unit Challenge stages, but there are differences among them in terms of the rewards you’ll receive.
Completing Experience Challenges (the first stage) offers a way to temporarily unlock and progress Season III units before they are permanently acquired through Unlock Challenges. All Unit XP and Veterency gained will be retained, but only if the unit is permanently unlocked before Season III ends (via stages two, three and four - depending on the unit tier).
Once you’ve unlocked your new Season III units, you can start advancing them by undertaking Growth Challenges. Unlike other seasonal unit challenges, Growth Challenges are specific to each unit and reward completion with Epic Doctrines and other useful items that are specific to that unit. For tier-5 units, there are two stages to work through.
● Condottieri Guards Unit Challenges ● Fortebraccio Pikemen Unit Challenges ● 2x Falconetti Gunners Unit Challenge stages ● 2x Pavise Crossbowmen Unit Challenge stages
Acquire Epic Doctrines for Season III units
If during the course of Season III you are finding it difficult to stay ahead of Unit Challenges, individual tasks can be completed for 100 Sovereigns, which was a feature of the previous season. Regardless of how you intend to unlock and advance your units, we hope you enjoy doing so - good luck!
Keep an eye out for future articles detailing other features and content coming as part of Season III: Soldiers of Fortune, due April 21st.
The above images are taken from a pre-release version of the update and cannot be considered final.
