Welcome Survivalists!

This is the fourth island orientation and we're going in a slightly different direction today... and no it's not just because the wind is carrying our raft that way!




Today we want to thank everyone for the amazing support you have all given us so far and to say we are overjoyed by the positivity we've gotten so far with the game. We can't wait for you all to play!

We'd also like to say thanks for all of the feedback on the demos and reports people have made which have really helped!






Early access to the final beta for those that have purchased the Deluxe Edition will also start on the 6th of October here on Steam. So we don't want to spoil too much before people jump into the game!

We'll have more exact launch times for the 9th and also that Early Access to the Final Beta at the start of next week if you keep an eye on our socials!

What we also have today is lots of monkeys!




We will be streaming on Monday October 5th on the Team17 twitch with several of the developers attending to answer your questions. It is currently set for 2PM BST but could be slightly later depending on everyone's schedules so be sure to follow: https://www.twitch.tv/team17ltd

Then you can be notified as we go live!




We're also running a design competition to get your monkey name into the game, all you need to do is respond to one of these threads on Twitter or Facebook with a monkey you designed that you'd like to befriend in game! Winners will have the name they give put into The Survivalists as a name that will appear when people find monkeys. This closes Monday!

Welcome Survivalists!

This is the third island orientation and one that could end up with you knee deep in oozy mud or even toasting marshmallows on lava flow!

We're also only three weeks away from launch now and can't be more excited for everyone to get their paws on the game!

Anyway, back to biomes!

In The Survivalists, each world is a set of randomly generated islands, and last time we covered how you will be getting between these islands in this nautical themed island orientation: https://steamcommunity.com/games/897450/announcements/detail/2758971956342546507

This week we look at some of the environmental dangers and biomes you will need to traverse with more care! Or at least, to take a minute and appreciate the wonder.


Some of the island's biomes will be extremely inhospitable to budding Surivivalists.

The swamps for example are patrolled by trillions of flying nuisances that will try to drain any unprepared 'suckers' dry of their life blood.

If you wander too far into a swamp and perish, getting your items back could prove extremely difficult. However, these lands have rare resources and items to find so the risk is definitely worth it!




To survive the harshness of the swamp, you require an elixir. To craft one you'll need to build a cauldron, to craft a glass bottle to hold the magical medicine and then the elixir itself from various things you can scavenge from the islands!

To take it, you just need to glug down the liquid and the buff will appear over your health where it will start the timer for its continued effects. Once that timer runs out, you'll once again be vulnerable to the elements. So be sure to keep an eye on that bar!




We can't wait for you to head out into the world of The Survivalists and experience all of it's wonders and marvels... even if some of them are extremely deadly.

Hey Survivalists!

A hotfix has just drifted ashore for the Steam demo including:

-Multi-select inventory sound bug fix! (this is the annoying repeated sound when you try to select something with your mouse from your inventory bar)
-Japanese localisation now properly enabled. (There may be an odd localisation missing)

Welcome Survivalists!

This is the second island orientation and you'd better put on your captains hat as we're getting nautical!

We're also thrilled to announce that we're opening a new Discord server for everyone to discuss the game, give us your feedback and more ahead of launch!

In The Survivalists, each world is a set of randomly generated islands, each can contain unique biomes which give specific resources you'll need to not just survive but thrive!

Some small connecting islands in shallow water can be reached by just walking across. Though deep water and ocean can be deadly and to get to islands across the big blue, you'll need something to ferry you safely across!




To build a raft, you'll first need to gather the required resources for both the raft and the sail! You'll also need to build up your camp and learn new crafting trees to put together the components for the raft!

Once all of your resources are collected and your components forged, it's time to place a blue print for the bottom of the raft. Then add the resources to the blue print and whack it with your multitool! Finally, you need to place on top the sail and you are ready to hit the high seas!




Sharks can be found patrolling the waters and can damage or even sink your raft! Repel their attacks with spears and weapons or try to make it for shore as fast as you can.




With all that out of the way it is time Survivalists, it's time to explore! What will you discover?

Hey survivalists!

Today we have some tips to help you survive in the beta! If you want anything else to be shown, be sure to let us know in the replies below!


Sleep is important!

To create the bed you will need to first open your blue print menu, 'RT' on controller or 'R' on keyboard and select the 'Flimsy Bed' and place it where you want it. First you must add some comfy padding to the bed which you can craft from the personal crafting tree, access with 'D-Pad down' on controller or 'C' on keyboard. Add this to your placed blue print and select your multi tool and craft the base for the bed. After this is completed, you must add a makeshift bed sheet which can also be crafted from the same spot as the padding. Once crafted, select in your inventory and add to the top of the beds base. Voila!




Beds are important, that's why making them is tip #1! To save the game you must return to a bed. Activating a bed will give you 3 options. To sleep, save and save + sleep. Sleeping will advance time, so depending on the time of day you might want to save but keep the game in the morning state. The other thing the bed does after sleeping in it, is saving your respawn location which defaults to your initial starting area near your shipwreck. So if you want to make sure you return to your new base, use a bed!




To train a monkey you first need to enter the monkey menu, which is 'LT' on a controller or 'Q' on a keyboard. They can mimic anything you can do. Some things require a tool to complete like crafting, where the monkey will need a multitool, which you can throw to them by selecting in your inventory and pressing 'X' on controller or 'R' on keyboard. To train a monkey you must press 'Y' on a controller or 'E' on keyboard then hover over the monkey you want to train. You can also hold the button down to expand the selection field to train multiple monkeys at once. A banana countdown symbol will appear above the monkeys head, this indicates they are in learning mode. You must then perform the action you want them to copy before the timer runs down, for example here we pick up meat off the floor and put it in the chest to train the monkey to collect and store resources.




To train a monkey in combat you must do the above, but hit a hostile enemy with a weapon and it will train the monkeys in combat. To increase their combat power, be sure to give them a suitable weapon! In the full version of the game, you will be able to craft training dummies for the monkeys to learn on rather than enemies.




A lot of survivalists have been asking about extra storage that they can take with them. Well, here it is! You can pick up a chest with 'A' on controller or 'Spacebar' on keyboard and use the same input to hand it to a monkey to carry. Make sure the monkey is following you in the monkey menu and then you have mobile storage. To take the chest back you just need to use the same inputs to grab from them, then it is 'B' on controller or 'F' on keyboard to drop the chest on the ground.
