This Halloween 2 book unlocks 20 additional levels for Coloring Pixels! The third seasonal spooktacular book for coloring Pixels! If you love Halloween as much as we do then pick up this pack...if you dare!
Available for the price of $1.00, £0.79, (or your regional equivalent). The pack will release on the 16th October at 19:00 UTC/12:00 PDT.
This update, we just wanted to focus on giving Coloring Pixels some much-needed love and attention. Although mainly this update brings lots of back end improvements, there are plenty of small bug fixes included!
Bug Fixes & Misc
Upgraded Engine version
Dark mode is now much more consistent and reliable throughout the game.
New main menu font for book select buttons.
Book select button's text now consistently turns yellow when pressed. (Apparently for the top few books it stayed black?)
Using the scroll wheel will now only work while the mouse is over the game.
Altered the artist credit for Impact level on the Community 2 book.
Bonus Book:
Fixed broken tick image.
Added YouTube link.
When you follow the links, the book automatically opens.
When you open a level and you then go back to the main menu, the game remembers how far down you were scrolled in the level select part of the game. So if you are working on the later levels in a book, you don't have to scroll down every time.
The game closes MUCH faster. (about time o.o)
Steam Cloud sync is working again for Mac! In theory, you should be able to play on Mac, and your save file should transition to PC.
Edit
Patch Notes V1.15.1
Bug Fixes and Misc
Fix for the high-speed scrolling bug.
Added support for the Halloween 2 Book.
Updated the intro splash screen to use the new ToastieLabs logo.
Reduced the number of graphics settings (in the Unity launch popup) to "VSync Off" and "VSync On". Although there were previously 5 settings, the only thing that changed between them was VSync. Hopefully, this small change helps improve clarity for the setting.
Do you want to hang out with our Coloring Pixels fans, chat to the devs and get an insight into what we are planning next? If so the best place to do so is our community Discord! https://discord.com/invite/wwXVWvA
Something that has been requested for a while but we never had the time or manpower to officially run is a Discord server. Well, that changed when we moved into the Toastie Office!
We have had a Discord server running since the 8th September that we announced on our Social Media. Just over 50 of you are already taking part!
Now we have had a few weeks to figure out what we need to smoothly run our server, I am excited to extend the invite to the rest you!
The purpose of our server is to build a friendly community for everyone who enjoys our games to hang out together, as well as give you the chance to communicate directly with us here in the office in a more casual manner! All of our community announcements go to Discord first and we will also host exciting giveaways and competitions from time to time!
As Rob announced the team is now bigger! (+1 Lee) Expect to see more posts on our media platforms as I have taken the responsibilities of Community Director for ToastieLabs!
As part of our efforts to grow, and moving into a set office space, we now have more time to focus on our community as well as our games! We want you to see the inner workings of the team!
With that in mind, we are excited to announce that we are now shooting, and uploading weekly videos of behind the scenes in ToastieLabs!

Monday 17th August marks the second year anniversary of Coloring Pixel’s launch! The kind comments and support for the game you have continued to give is incredibly heart warming, we are overwhelmingly grateful.
It has been a good year, we now have over 500 levels (with many more to come) and Coloring Pixels is available on Android and iOS. Somehow over 200,000 of you have downloaded the game, and with an average play time of 24 hours… that’s a lot of pixels colored!
We are just getting started! Rest assured that we have plans for at least another year of DLC content, as well as some content updates. We have some big plans for the future, but for now let’s take a moment to celebrate: we have added new birthday image; we’re hosting the 3rd annual pixel art competition; and all DLC will be 20% off for the week!
We are Going Full Time And Getting An Office!
We have some big news (don’t worry it’s good news) we are moving from part time to full time games development!
This might seem like some odd news, but we are a VERY small development team. The core team consists primarily of myself (Rob) with a lot of support from my long term girlfriend Kim. For the last two years, I have been doing my best to manage content updates and new DLC packs for Coloring Pixels while also working a full time job. It has always been a dream of mine to do ToastieLabs work full time, and thanks to the continued support of all of you reading this, it is becoming a reality.
Myself and an old friend Lee, have both resigned from our current jobs and will start to work full time at the new ToastieLabs Office “Toastie HQ” on the 1st September! This is incredibly exciting for the both of us; we are both going to be working our dream jobs, we will have an office to call our own, and we will have much more time to be able to dedicate to the community, the development of Coloring Pixels, and hopefully new projects!
I can’t stress enough that all of you wonderful people who have supported us the last two years are making this possible. You are truly amazing! Thank you (>’o’)>
So keep your eyes peeled in September for more updates! We are hoping to start a Discord server, but other than that we are open to suggestions. Do you want to see dev logs, more games from us, or just want some more love and attention to Coloring Pixels? Let us know, and in September we will see what we can do <3
Pixel Art Competition!
It’s starting to be a tradition for us, it’s time for the third Coloring Pixels art competition! For those of you that don’t know, this is the chance to get your art into the game! We ran one shortly after launch and another last year for our 1st birthday, with the top 20 submissions being selected to form the free ”Community 1” and “Community 2” books!
To celebrate the 2 year anniversary of Coloring Pixels, we’re hosting another competition!
The 20 winners of this competition will have their pixel art featured in a free update to Coloring Pixels. It's very easy to enter; keep reading to find out all the information you need. When you're ready, follow the link at the bottom of the post.
The deadline is the 16th October 2020 at 17:00 UTC, the winners will be announced on 23th October 2020 via a blog post on our website, Steam announcement, and via Twitter. Follow us on Twitter to stay informed: https://twitter.com/ToastieLabs
Rules and Suggestions
We need to make sure that your pixel art is compatible for use in Coloring Pixels. To help improve your chances, we have come up with a few simple rules for you to follow and some suggestions to help you get started.
Rules (the dull bit):
You must submit an image of file type PNG. Sadly, PNG is the only image file format supported by Coloring Pixels. Other formats can easily be converted to PNG through most image editing software and online converters.
Image must have a maximum dimension of 300x300 pixels. As you will have noticed, the larger images in Coloring Pixels take exponentially more time to complete. Although we know a lot of you prefer larger images, we don't want levels taking weeks to complete.
Submission must have fewer than 100 different colors. The fewer colors, the better for Coloing Pixels; so try to keep to as few as possible. It is difficult to know how many different colours there are in an image, so if you accidentally submit more than 100 colors it will be alright (we will just need to pass your image through a filter). Some applications such as Aseprite let you create a color palette (which we recommend) which allows you to keep track of colors easily. If you choose an application such as paint.net we recommend sticking to the pencil tool over using paint brush tools as they can often create numerous different colors in an attempt to blend with the background.
Suggestions
Size doesn't matter! As long as you keep within the 300x300 image dimension limit you won't be penalised for submitting a smaller image. We will be judging submissions based on aesthetic and not complexity. For example, if you submit an image of size 10x20, it will be judged equally to one of size 150x200.
Which software should I use? We recommend using either Aseprite or Paint.net (free). Both are very powerful pieces of software which are more than capable of creating pixel art for this competition. That being said, you can use whichever software you want, as long as you can draw and produce a PNG file it should be good enough.
I need inspiration! We can't choose for you, but you can draw anything. If you can't think of anything new or inspiring, try drawing something you love (film, game, pet fish) or even something on your desk (lamp, a book, that murder weapon you need to get rid of).
Can I submit multiple times? Yes, don't hold back! Submit as many images as you like. We will judge each image anonymously and individually.
